Este fin de semana, tenemos uno de los pasajes más desafiantes de los
evangelios, sobre amar a nuestros enemigos. Todo en el pasaje va en contra de
nuestros instintos e incluso de nuestro sentido de la justicia. Si bien puedes
pensar que no tienes enemigos, per se, cada uno de nosotros tiene personas que
nos han lastimado o maltratado en nuestras vidas. Si aún no lo has hecho, te
recomendaría que continúes leyendo el libro "Todo el mundo necesita perdonar
a alguien". Es una lectura fácil pero poderosa.
Aquí hay un breve comentario del Comentario Católico sobre las Escrituras
acerca del Evangelio de este fin de semana: “Con una serie de imperativos, Jesús
ahora se dirige a todos los que lo escuchan. Al igual que con las
Bienaventuranzas, sus órdenes habrían inquietado a sus oyentes: ama a tus
enemigos. Para aquellos que pudieron haber esperado que Jesús dirigiera una
revuelta contra Roma, Jesús en efecto decía: "Ama a los romanos". Este fue y
sigue siendo un mensaje difícil. También expande el alcance de la ley de
Moisés: “Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo” (Lev 19:18). Jesús interpretará
de manera similar este mandamiento de Moisés para incluir el amor a los
enemigos en la parábola del buen samaritano (véase Lucas 10: 25–37). Por
supuesto, el mensaje de Jesús también significa amar a los enemigos dentro de la
comunidad. Incluso entre los apóstoles probablemente se necesitaba esta
instrucción, ya que los Doce incluían tanto a un recaudador de impuestos como a
alguien celoso de la ley. Tres comandos más dan ejemplos concretos de lo que

Práctica para los servidores de altar
El sábado 2 de marzo, tendremos nuestra primera práctica de servidores de altar
en muchos meses. Me gustaría animar a todos nuestros jóvenes que son
servidores y a todos aquellos que quieran comenzar a servir para que vengan. La
práctica será de 10:00 a.m.-12: 00 p.m. a partir del mediodía en el gimnasio.
Noticias de primera comunión
Padres, si tiene un hijo que se está preparando para su primera comunión, por
favor, si aún no se ha inscrito, inscríbase para su entrevista de primera
comunión, comienzan el 2 de marzo y continúan hasta abril. Además, recoja sus
libros si aún no lo ha hecho.
La Iglesia del Espíritu Santo está teniendo una
misión parroquial desde el lunes 25 de febrero
hasta el 28 de febrero de 7 pm a 9 pm. Estamos
invitando a todos a participar. No hay costo,
aunque se aceptará una donación voluntaria la

Hospitalidad/Hospitality El desayuno después de las Misas estará suspendido
hasta que estemos de regreso en el edificio de la
Iglesia. Por lo tanto, el primero, segundo y último
fin de semana del mes no tendremos pan, donas, o
desayuno. Breakfast after the Masses will be sus-
pended until we are back in the Church building
since it will be difficult to set up and take down
chairs and tables after every Mass. So, on the first,
second, and last week ends of the month, we will not
be having bread, donuts, or breakfast.

This weekend, we have one of the most challenging passages in the gospels, on
loving our enemies. Everything in the passage runs counter to our instincts and
even our sense of justice. While you may think you don’t have enemies, per se,
every one of us has people who have hurt us or mistreated us in our lives. If you
haven’t already, I would recommend you continue reading the book “Everybody
needs to forgive somebody.” It is easy yet powerful read.
Here is a short commentary from the Catholic Commentary on Scripture regard-
ing this weekend’s Gospel: With a series of imperatives, Jesus now addresses all
those who hear him. As with the Beatitudes, his commands would have unset-
tled his listeners: Love your enemies. To those who may have expected Jesus to
lead a revolt against Rome, Jesus was in effect saying: “Love the Romans.” This
was and remains a difficult message. It also expands the scope of the law of Mo-
ses: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Lev 19:18). Jesus will similarly
interpret this commandment of Moses to include love of enemies in the parable
of the good Samaritan (see Luke 10:25–37). Of course, Jesus’ message also
means loving enemies within the community. Even among the apostles there
was probably a need for this instruction, since the Twelve included both a tax
collector and someone zealous for the law. Three more commands give concrete
examples of what it means to love one’s enemies: do good to them, bless them,
pray for them. Jesus is again further developing Old Testament teaching (Exod
23:4–5; Prov 25:21–22; see Rom 12:20). He himself will set the standard by
praying for those who crucify him (Luke 23:34). The early Christians will fol-
low Jesus’ teaching and example (see Acts 7:60; Rom 12:14; 1 Pet 3:9).
Practice for Altar Servers
Saturday March 2, we will be having our first altar server practice in many
months. I would like to encourage all of our young men who are servers and all
those who would like to begin serving to come. The practice will be from 10:00
am -12:00 pm noon beginning in the gymnasium.
First Communion News
Parents, if you have a child preparing for their first communion, please, if you
haven’t signed up yet, sign up for your first communion interviews, they begin
March 2 and run through April. Also, please retrieve your books if you haven’t
done so yet.
Holy Spirit is having a Parish Mission beginning
Monday, Feb. 25 through Feb. 28 from 7 pm-9 pm. We are inviting all to participate. There is no
cost although a free will offering will be accepted
the last night. Fr. Larry Richards from Pitts-
burgh, Pennsylvania will be the presenter. If you

Adult Education at Holy Spirit Church in Sioux Falls is on Tuesday, March
5th at 7:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room. The presenter is Fr. Kristopher
Cowles, Pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Sioux Falls. His topic is, “Our
Lady of Guadalupe and the end of the Reign of Darkness.” There will be an
opportunity for Q & A after the presentation. If you have any questions, please
