CHILD WATCH/KIDS ZONEAGES 6 WEEKS TO 12 YEARSChild Watch/Kids’ Zone service is available to all Family Memberships for children 6 weeks to 12 years old. It is provided for parents while they are on site using the Y’s facilities for a maximum of 2 hours.

Child Watch/Kids’ Zone are fully supervised by trained staff who are all First Aid and CPR certifi ed.

HOURS:Mondays – Thursdays: 8am – 1pm & 2:30pm - 7:30pm

Fridays: 8am – 1pm & 2:30pm - 5pm

Saturdays/Sundays: 8:00am – 12:30pm

FAMILY FITNESSFAMILY FITNESS CLASSES AND WELLNESS TIMEWe are proud to offer family fi tness classes andwellness time so that families are able to focus on their health and wellness together. Ages 7-11 may use the wellness center when accompanied by a parent.

Family fi tness classes are for ages 7+, ages 7-11 must be accompanied by a parent at all times. Our classes include: Family Fitness, Family Yoga and Family Friendly Cycling. Please see current Group Exercise schedule for times.

QUALITY TIME TOGETHER

Y FAMILY EVENTSThrough family activities, our Y strengthens therelationship between a parent and a child. Parents andchildren have an opportunity to build stronger bonds, achieve greater work and life balance, and become more engaged with their community. YMCA Aquatics is about water safety, skill development and fun for everyone. At the YMCA, aquatics include swim lessons for all ages, water exercise, lifeguard certifi cation, recreation, fi tness and water safety. We have an aquatic program for every skill level and interest.

WATER FITNESSThe YMCA’s Water Fitness program encourages people of all ages to use the buoyant qualities of water to enhance their physical fi tness through exercise. It’s an ideal form of exercise for all ages and increases physical strength and endurance without putting stress and strain on joints, as in land-based exercise. You can reduce emotional stress and tension, improve health, and encourage and improvefeelings of well-being and self-esteem.

ASHI TRAINING COURSESCPR-AED/FIRST AIDKeep your family safe and healthy by learning what to do in an emergency. Being trained in CPR and First Aid can save a life! The La Jolla YMCA offers regularly scheduled classes to get and maintain these important skills. Come by yourself, bring your family or sign up your group!

MODEL UNITED NATIONSThe California YMCA Youth and Government Model United Nations Program is for 6th - 8th graders throughout the state. These students are given the opportunity to engage in international issues, discover other cultures, make friends and have a lot of fun.

• Learn about the world• Research and debate• Establish policies and treaties about international issues• Make new friends throughout California• Attend two statewide conferences

TEEN LEADERSHIP CONFERENCEJoin us September 26-28 for the San Diego Teen Leadership conference. Meet teens from throughout San Diego County while focusing on building leadership and confl ict resolu-tion skills, preparing and setting goals for the future, college preparation and more! The conference will be held at YMCA Camp Marston, located in Julian. Join us for this memorable and engaging experience!

PRESCHOOL

Our preschool is licensed by the State of California Depart-ment of Social Services, Community Care Licensing. We offer quality care and the excellent standards of the YMCA.

Our licensed preschool program provides a nurturingand educational environment for children ages 3-5. Our programming focuses on developing the whole childincluding, early literacy, fi ne motor skills and healthy habits development. The curriculum at our early childhood learning centers is designed to offer enriching child care,catering to families that value education beyond traditional child care. CHARACTER BUILDERSOur Licensed Character Builders Before & After School Program serves students ages 5-12. Research shows that children who participate in before and after school programs are more successful in academics, are health-ier, and exhibit positive behaviors. GYMNASTICS CLASSESOur Gymnastics program is based on the skills, levels and progressions developed by USA Gymnastics. Participants will learn the basic skills to progress through each level of the program. Classes are designed to allow for a smooth transition from one class level to the next.

YOUNG GYMNASTS (18 MONTHS-5 YEARS) These classes will introduce children to tumbling,obstacle courses and gymnastics equipment. Your children will develop coordination, balance and strength.

PROGRESSIVE GYMNASTS (5+) These classes will provide a safe and solidfoundation from which to progress. Your child can build strength, coordination and self-esteem.

COMPETITIVE TEAM GYMNASTS (7+) Participation by tryout only.

The Y has a state-of-the-art gymnastics center that can help your child learn gymnastics in a fun and encouraging atmosphere. Your child can build strength, self confi dence and coordination. All classes run at the Y on a monthly basis and registration is required.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Our Y serves over 11,094 members and participants each year throughout the communities of La Jolla, University City, North Clairemont, Sorrento Valley, Carmel Valley and North Pacifi c Beach.

BE A PART OF OUR CAUSE

GIVE TO OUR ANNUAL SUPPORT CAMPAIGNEach year over 240 volunteers are recruited to assist in our Annual Support Campaign. In February 2014, our volunteers were successful in raising more than $470,000 in donations from friends, family and others involved with our YMCA. Our Annual Support Campaign provides children, families, adults and seniors with fi nancial assistance and program subsidy within our community. Every gift matters. Everyone has a role to play. The Y. So Much More.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIESDo you want to make a difference in your community? Here at the Y we rely on volunteers to play an integral role in many of our programs. They serve on various committees, teach classes, fundraise, coach sports teams and provide offi ce support.

YMCA HERITAGE CLUBPRESERVING THE HERITAGE AT THE Y FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS

The La Jolla YMCA Heritage Club is composed ofindividuals who have created endowments to support the La Jolla YMCA’s community efforts in the future.

Support may be given through:• Partial bequests in your Family Trust or Will

• An existing or new insurance policy may be utilized by naming the Y as a partial benefi ciary

• Various forms of charitable remainder Trust may be created which results in income, capital gains and estate tax reductions. In addition, they may create additional income.

An endowment gift to the La Jolla YMCA providesresources for the Y’s many excellent programs andservices. Gifts of endowment may be directed to anyof the Y’s programs of interest to the donor. Theendowment program will provide the La Jolla YMCA the opportunity to continue serving the community for years to come.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCEThe Y is more than a gym. We’re working hard to better our community by developing young people and preparing them for the future.

Each year, we run programs designed to ensure that the youth in our community have opportunities to learn, grow and thrive.

Whether it’s using the latest technology, learning to swim, or building confi dence and self-esteem, we truly believe children are the future, and it’s our job to prepare them for success. We provide Financial Assistance to those in need.

The Y is for everyone! We have a strong group of members we consider to be Active Adults – those age 50 and older who stay active by participating in physical and social activities that enhance the spirit, mind and body. We provide opportunities for our adult members to pursue their interests, stay active and continue learning. YAA is a way for our active adults to stay connected, vital and engaged.
