What You Need2 small green tomatoes1 c buttermilk1/2 c panko bread crumbs1/2 c self-rising ßourVegetable oil for fryingSaltRed pepper4 slices bacon1 c lettuce leaves2 tbsp mayonnaise2 tbsp roasted red pepper vinaigrette4 slices bread

Directions¥ Slice green tomatoes. Put

in a colander and set in the sink.¥ Sprinkle salt over them

Fried Green Tomato BLT Sandwich

and let the excess liquid be drawn out. This should take about 30 minutes.¥ Pour the buttermilk in one bowl.

In another bowl, mix together the panko bread crumbs, ßour, salt to taste, and red pepper.¥ Heat approximately 1/2 cup vegetable oil in a skillet. ¥ Place tomatoes in the buttermilk,

then dredge through the panko mixture. Pan-fry until crispy. Drain on a cooling rack.¥ Mix together roasted red pepper vinaigrette and mayo. ¥ Toast bread slices.¥ Assemble sandwich with red

pepper mayo, lettuce, bacon (2 slices per sandwich) and tomatoes.

The City of La Feria will receive sealed bids for Unit 4-A: Tio Cano Relief via the Wilson Canal until 2:00 PM on Thursday July 30, 2015 at 115 E. Commercial Ave., La Feria, Texas (City Hall). The bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at 2:00 PM on Thursday July 30, 2015at City Hall.

Scope of Work: The proposed project involves construction and installation of geomembrane with concrete cover, construction of one check gate structure, installation of check gates, and installation of a cast in place box at Palis Drive. Contractor must demonstrate relevant experience with construction of drainage/irrigation canal facilities and have adequate equipment for construction of improvements as specified in the plans.

Bid/Contract Documents, including Drawings, Technical Specifications, and Administrative Documents & Procedures are on file at 611 Bill Summers Intl., Blvd., Weslaco, TX 78596, (956) 968-2194. Copies of the Bid/Contract Documents may be obtained by depositing $100.00 with SWG Engineering, LLC, for each set of documents obtained. The deposit will be refunded if the documents and drawings are returned in good condition with 10 days following the bid opening. Bidders must be registered with the Engineer of record to obtain any addenda which may be issued for these plans. A bid bond in the amount of 5 percent (5%) of the bid issued by an acceptable surety shall be submitted with each bid. A certified check or bank draft payable to the City of La Feria or negotiable U.S. Government Bonds (as par value) may be submitted in lieu of the Bid Bond.

The City of La Feria strongly recommends bidders attend the pre-bid conference scheduled for Wednesday July 22, 2015 at 2:00 PM atLa Feria City Hall.

The City of La Feria Section 3 Policy seeks to ensure that to the greatest extent feasible, training, employment and contracting opportunities created by the City’s receipt of federal housing and community development funds are made available to "Section 3 Residents" and "Section 3 Businesses." The awarded construction contractor will be responsible for meeting the requirements of this policy. The City's Section 3 Policy is included in the bid documents. Attention is called to the fact that not less than, the federally determined prevailing wage rate (Davis-Bacon and Related Acts), as issued by the U.S. Department of Labor and contained in the contract documents, must be paid on this project. In addition, the successful bidder must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of race, color, religion, sex age or national origin. The City of La Feria is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer.

The City of La Feria reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any informality in the bidding. Bids may be held by the City of La Feria for sixty (60) days from the date of the bid opening for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the bidders' qualifications prior to the contract award. All contractors/subcontractors that are debarred, suspended or otherwise excluded from or ineligible for participation on federal assistance programs may not undertake any activity in part or in full under this project.
