Box: 116-5019, Beirut – Lebanon www.cts.com.lb La Découverte de la Tunisie (8D/7N) Departure from Beirut every Wednesday , Friday & Sunday Program details: DAY 1: BEIRUT - TUNIS Arrival to Tunis airport, meet and greet by your guide and transfer to Hammamet. Dinner and overnight at 5* hotel DAY 2: HAMMAMET – NABEUL – HAMMAMET After breakfast at your hotel, your driver will take you to explore the new resort of Hammamet Yasmine with its lovely marina. Then visit of Hammamet old medina – a chance to barter for souvenirs and handicrafts, while the Spanish fort offers wonderful views over Hammamet from its ramparts. Tucked away in the maze of alleys is the traditional wedding dress museum - small but delightful. Then on to Nabeul, 12 kms north of Hammamet, it has the biggest weekly market in the area, held every Friday morning. The town is famous for its pottery and ceramics (it is known as the ceramics capital of Tunisia) and is also a holiday resort with long stretches of sandy beach Back to your hotel in Hammamet for diner and overnight stay. DAY 3: HAMMAMET – MONASTIR – SOUSSE – HAMMAMET Breakfast at your hotel then drive to Monastir: it was the birthplace of Habib Bourguiba, who lead the country out of French rule in the 1950’s and now houses the beautiful twin minareted Bourguiba Mausoleum. The town is still a busy fishing port and at its heart is the Medina, originally built around the Ribat but extended in the 18th century. The Medina in Monastir is undoubtedly worth visiting for the Ribat, from outside; (a sort of fortress for devout Muslim warriors), built at the end of the 8th century, with distinctive ramparts and a watchtower. Then on to Sousse, it has been an important port for every civilization visiting this coast. Though nowadays a modern, thriving commercial port and holiday resort, the ancient walled Medina retains the history of the town. The modern town has shops, cafés, bars and discotheques and most of the hotels are set along the promenade or directly on the beaches to the north of the centre. Apart from being able to bargain for souvenirs and handicrafts, while in the Medina it is well worth visiting the Ribat, a sort of fortress for devout Muslim warriors, dating back to the 9th century; the Great Mosque, also founded in the 9th century. Not far from Port El Kantaoui is a purpose built resort created in the late 70’s and situated just north of Sousse. It features a lovely Andalucian style marina, parks and fountains, shops, restaurants, bars and cafes with most of its hotels built along its sandy beaches DAY 4: HAMMAMET After breakfast at your hotel, your guide will take to the marina to enjoy a half day boat trip. (Optional at Extra charge). Afternoon free at your hotel. Dinner and overnight at your hotel DAY 5: HAMMAMET Breakfast at your hotel. Today is at leisure, you will have the chance to explore Hammamet on your own. In the afternoon you can have dinner at an ‘Arabian Nights’ restaurant outside the hotel (Optional, at Extra charge): “Alf Leyla wa Leyla restaurant” Dinner and overnight at your hotel DAY 6: HAMMAMET - TUNIS Breakfast at your hotel and then check out. You will be transferred by your driver and guide to Tunis the capital to visit the 13th century Medina of Tunis - a World Heritage Site. It is home to silver and goldsmiths, fez and carpet makers and many more artisans. It houses the magnificent Zitouna Mosque and several museums. Out of the Medina, Tunis is a modern, bustling, busy city, its main thoroughfare being Avenue Habib Bourghiba, with the Medina at one end and the TGM Metro line, to Carthage and Sidi Bou Said, at the other. Sidi Bou Said: a Cliffside town overlooking the Bay of Tunis, its white and blue houses spread down the hill towards Sidi Bou Said’s marina. In the warm summer, evenings there are often concerts of traditional Tunisian music. This is a place to stroll around the narrow cobblestone streets, take in the wonderful views and try a Turkish coffee or mint tea. You will also enjoy shopping at Tunisia Mole. Then arrival to your hotel 5* and overnight stay on half board basis (dinner included) DAY 7: TUNIS Free time at leisure DAY 8: TUNIS – BEIRUT After breakfast, your driver and guide will pick you up from your hotel to Tunis airport for return flight. Starting rate $ 665 PER PERSON
