DNA

Looking 4Ward

It all started in the year 2000. We met as a group of friends with similar interests at school. Even though we are L4 and we work together, we are friends in daily life too. It’s hard to remember a day when we didn’t see each other. As a band, we have been together since 2007, and performed live for the very first time in March 2008 as L4.

Although we listen to all kinds of music we make Hip Hop. We have a live band, so it isn’t the typical “Boom Bap Rap” that one might be used to hearing nowadays. It is fresh, because we have the tendency to cross over to jazz, funk, soul and/or even reggae. So basically, you really need to come see us live to get the full picture. There are not really any limits to our sound, but it’s all Hip-Hop. We’ve been actively making music for a little less than 10 years now. However, you could find us freestyling with friends here and there before it became a fulltime thing.

We have our own studio and that’s where all the magic happens. We’re lucky to have the luxury of being able to work whenever we want without having to make appointments with other producers. Before having our own studio, we would travel around just to record a song. We spent months in the studio recording and re-recording. Some

songs were swapped around and others were replaced. And at the end, we said ok, enough is enough! The album itself is a mixture of styles and a variety of sounds ranging from very soulful laid back tunes to some hard and heavy head bangers.

L4 has been described as the United Nations of Hip Hop.

In other words, we all come from different corners of the world. This gives our music diversity as everyone has a different musical background. No matter the age, when you see L4 live on stage you will always remember the experience. Every show is unique and tailor made for the occasion or venue. This is why we consider a L4 show an experience of sight and sound.

We’ve had a bumpy past in music with previous projects that ultimately brought us together to create a group trying to start “Looking Forward”.As we prepare for take off, our aim is to fly high. We believe that L4 has what it takes and this is the time to push harder than ever before. We would be happy to travel the world and let our music be heard. As global citizens, our music is all done in English; therefore it shouldn’t know any borders.

L4 is looking forward to a colorful and vibrant entrance into 2010.

Let us introduce three hotties the world has been waiting for. Dna, Mic Nif and Stamina. No fire has been blazing with such intensity when they burn on stage. A must see for any music lover, no matter the age, gender, or ethnicity.

and LIVE bandThe election of a president is nothing compared to creating a team of musicians that can make it work together. Fortunately L4 has shown on numerous stages that there is sufficient talent in this country of oranje! Just like every president has a strong woman behind him, L4 has a superb crew of musicians backing them up. Blame it on their individual talents, their diverse backgrounds, or on the entire chicken soup...the experience and their professionalism will make your tail feathers shake.Mu

In juni 2005 opende The Blueprint zijn deur. Muziekgenre’s in The Blueprint zijn lounge, jazz, latin/house, funky/sexy, club. Wij streven hoge

kwaliteit en service na. Onze gekwalificeerde bartenders maken de cocktails met premium dranken en vers fruit. The Blueprint leent zich ook goed voor een borrel, afscheidsreceptie of feestje.

95% of all females are interested in fashion. That is why Stamina, Dna, and Mic Nif sat down and thought about what they would like to see women wear this coming season! One item they agreed upon is “the hat”. They see women wear it with shorts, leggings, and blue jeans...definitely a must have item! Woman’s Wardrobe L4 touched!

L4 Style Update

Stamina thinks women dress best wearing shorts, with a comfortable hippy long sleaved shirt. He paired it with an elegant flowing summer hat, a vintage clutch and closed wedges. He keeps the colors earthly and warm. Stamina’s choice is a great casual set and can be worn out shopping, or for lunch with friends. Now all we need is the sun to come out and warm us!!!

Mic Nif keeps it cool with black leggings paired with a casual loose fit shirt. He includes a trendy wide shouldered west and killer heels. Put on a gentleman hat and some big 70s shades and you are good to go. This outfit flatters just about any shape and can be worn to the office, out to drinks, or to the club. We believe this to be a superb choice.

Dna styles a vintage tunic with skinny jeans. The tunic looks extremely glamorous and is fitted underneath the chest. The flowing materials and soft colors will caress any figure! A great, comfortable summer look paired with white pumps and a matching hat. He even advised on some bling bling attire. This look can be worn going out for cocktails, shopping, or out to lunch. Either way you wear it, enjoy the sunshine!

Experience sharing time! Real musicianship, what is that exactly? Do we give it a name, is it a feeling, a colour, all of the above? Every music lover is touched on different levels. And we all have songs reminding us of past moments. How many times were you sitting in a car smiling, becasue that song brought back that memory? Kwesi Asante, in his 20s with a perspective far ahead his time and well versed in his writing, shares his view on musical talents and drives in the Netherlands and the United States.

I consider myself an international man. Born in Germany by African parents (Ghanaian) and raised in Holland and New England, The United States. I also consider myself somewhat of a musician. I play multiple woodwind instruments and have been known on occasion to grab a microphone and sing a tune or two. As such I thought it an interesting choice when I was asked to speak on the differences between the social music scene in the United States and Holland.I will premise this by saying that my opinions may have more of a bias than most.

This is because I fell in love with Holland many years ago so although times change, my outlook doesn't seem to.

But it's not exactly an accurate assumption

that my outlook is totally based on my love for Holland. Those of you living in The Netherlands don't know what you have. It's true that the United States has a lot to see and experience. The music scene sets the standard of music throughout the whole world. The nightlife also tends to draw large crowds from worldwide audiences. But what America seems to have lost, is it's soul.

The creativity that once made it the greatest place to be for musicians and music lovers. It seems that these days, you need to venture out to experience true, pure, musicianship. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I'd suggest you take a trip to a small bar in the heart of the Centrum, The Hague. Although quite unassuming in appearance, this is one of those places that musicians walk into and realize that they are in music heaven. On specific nights, you'll walk in and find that piano players, percussionists, violinists, singers, and even MCs have converged on this location to entertain who ever is lucky enough to have found this whole in the wall club. They aren't paid to be there; they're there to express themselves and release the caged dragon that is their passion. If you're so inclined, as I was, to join the jam session; you need only to grab a mic. That can be said about most of the experiences in Holland. There is a purity among the people that can't be found in the States. Don't get me wrong; there are open mic nights in various clubs in the States. The difference is the fact that the musicians here seem to have big dreams and stars in their eyes while the artists in the States seem to have dollar signs in theirs. I'm sure my bias is now becoming evident. Needless to say; I stand by my position.

“Go out and explore”.

You'll love the fact that you're in America. I'm sure that you'll have a GREAT experience. Just don't down play the fact that you live in a place that is considered by many to be the only place to be for real artists and musical lovers...
