Call for Applications for Intern Positions at the
L3S Research Center / University of Hannover,

The L3S Research Center (www.L3S.de), associated to the
University of Hannover, Germany is
pleased to invite dynamic and highly motivated undergraduate
salvadorian students in the fields of
Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Electrical
Engineering to apply for a research
internship in 2010 (2 positions). The interns will be matched
with a doctoral student whom they
assist and who will also serve as their mentor.
1. Program Mission
L3S internship placements provide students the opportunity to
live and work in an international
context, to strengthen their practical and theoretical skills,
and to improve their (or begin learning!)
German. Last but not least, the research internship should be a
source of mutual cultural enrichment
for both the interns and their hosts.
2. Requirements
To apply for a internship placement for 2010 you must:
have completed all the degree courses required (status of
Egresado de la Carrera)
be currently enrolled at a university and ready to start your
bachelor's thesis (Trabajo de
Graduacin), which is expected to be developed and finished
during the internship.
have a working knowledge in the Java and/or C++ programming
languages is definitely a
plusGerman language skills are not required for most positions
but would be helpful to manage
everyday life outside of the laboratory. The working language
will generally be English, which is a
must.

3. Terms of Award
A. Duration : 6 months
B. Scholarship:
i. Monthly scholarship: 660 Euros, taxable, finally resulting in
about 600 Euros.
ii. Student accommodation at the university hostel will be
provided (self paid by thestudents). The likely costs are around
180 - 300 Euros per month.
iii.L3S also pays for the student registration (around 200
Euros) which will give you
student status, and free local transport for the semester.
iv. L3S will refund the air ticket costs up to 600 Euros.
v. The air flight costs are refundable once the student signs
the contract, thus only after
he/she has arrived to Hannover. Student accommodations will be
arranged ahead of
time. There are usually no other fixed costs.
vi. L3S also pays for the student's health insurance.
C. Expected monthly expenses range between 100-150 for food,
100-300 for
accommodation (depending on what type the student gets).
Usually, students can get by in
500, and have enough left to make occasional visits to nearby
cities.

a cover letter in which you state your motivation to apply for
this internship
full curriculum vitae/rsum (1 page maximum), including your
personal information and
current Grade Point Average (i.e., C.U.M)
As a later step, you will have to complete your application by
also sending the following
documents:
up-to-date official university/college transcript(s)
as a supplement to this transcript (if necessary), a list of
courses you will have completed by
the time the internship begins
a letter of reference from a senior academic in your field of
study
a cover letter in which you state your motivation to apply for
this internship
which should be combined within the pdf document you sent in the
first step.
All applications have to be sent as soon as possible and
completed no later than
February 14th, 2010
You will be notified by the beginning of March 2010 whether your
application has been successful.
