When operated and maintained according to all supplied instructions, if this riding equipmentfails due to a defect in material or workmanship within two years from the date or purchase,call 1-800-4-MY-HOME® to arrange for free repair.

Also, when operated and maintained according to all supplied instructions, Warranty willalso cover defects in material and workmanship of the Frame and Front Axle for five yearsfrom the date of purchase

This warranty covers ONLY defects in material and workmanship. Sears will NOTpay for:

• Expendable items that become worn during normal use, including but not limited toblades, spark plugs, air cleaners, belts, and oil filters.

• Standard maintenance servicing, oil changes, or tune-ups.

• Tire replacement or repair caused by punctures from outside objects, such as nails,thorns, stumps, or glass.

• Tire or wheel replacement or repair resulting from normal wear, accident, or improperoperation or maintenance.

• Repairs necessary because of operator abuse, including but not limited to damagecaused by towing objects beyond the capability of the riding equipment, impactingobjects that bend the frame or crankshaft, or over-speeding the engine.

• Repairs necessary because of operator negligence, including but not limited to, electricaland mechanical damage caused by improper storage, failure to use the proper gradeand amount of engine oil, failure to keep the deck clear of flammable debris, or failure tomaintain the riding equipment according to the instructions contained in the operator'smanual.

• Engine (fuel system) cleaning or repairs caused byfuel determined to be contaminated oroxidized (stale). In general, fuel should be used within 30 days of its purchase date.

• Normal deterioration and wear of the exterior finishes, or product label replacement.

All riding equipment and battery warranty coverage is void if this product is ever used forcommercial or rental purposes.

This warranty applies only while this product is within the United States.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights whichvary from state to state.

Use common sense when towing.Operate only at the lowest possible speedwhen on a slope. Too heavy of a load, whileon a slope, is dangerous. Tires can losetraction with the ground and cause you tolose control of your tractor.

I. GENERAL OPERATION

• Read, understand, and follow all instruc-tions on the machine and in the manualbefore starting.

• Do not put hands or feet near rotatingparts or under the machine. Keep clearof the discharge opening at all times.

• Only allow responsible adults, who arefamiliar with the instructions, to operatethe machine.

• Clear the area of objects such as rocks,toys, wire, etc., which could be pickedup and thrown by the blades.

• Be sure the area is clear of bystandersbefore operating. Stop machine ifanyoneenters the area.

• Never carry passengers.• Do not mow in reverse unless absolutely

necessary. Always look down and behindbefore and while backing.

• Never direct discharged materialtowardanyone. Avoid discharging materialagainst a wall or obstruction. Materialmay ricochet back toward the operator.Stop the blades when crossing gravelsurfaces.

• Do not operate machine without the en-tire grass catcher, discharge chute, orother safety devices in place and working.

• Slow down before turning.• Never leave a running machine unat-

tended. Always turn off blades, setparking brake, stop engine, and removekeys before dismounting.

• Disengage blades when not mowing.Shut off engine and wait for all parts tocome to a complete stop before cleaningthe machine, removing the grass catcher,or unclogging the discharge chute.

• Operate machine only indaylight or goodartificial light.

• Do not operate the machine while underthe influence of alcohol or drugs.

• Watch for traffic when operating near orcrossing roadways.

• Use extra care when loading or unloadingthe machine into a trailer or truck.

• AIways wear eye protection when operat-ing machine.

• Data indicates that operators, age 60years and above, are involved in a largepercentage of riding mower-related inju-ries. These operators should evaluatetheir ability to operate the riding mowersafely enough to protect themselves andothers from serious injury.

• Follow the manufacturer's recommen-

dation for wheel weights or counter-weights.

• Keep machine free of grass, leaves orother debris build-up which can touch hotexhaust / engine parts and burn. Do notallow the mower to plow leaves or otherdebris which can cause build-up to oc-cur. Clean any oil or fuel spillage beforeoperating or storing the machine. Allowmachine to cool before storage.

li. SLOPE OPERATION

Slopes are a major factor related to loss ofcontrol and tip-over accidents, which canresult in severe injury or death. Operationon all slopes requires extra caution. If youcannot back up the slope or if you feel uneasyon it, do not mow it.• Mow up and down slopes, not across.• Watch for holes, ruts, bumps, rocks, or

other hidden objects. Uneven terraincould overturn the machine. Tall grasscan hide obstacles.

• Choose a low ground speed so that youwill not have to stop or shift while on theslope.

• Do not mow on wet grass. Tires may losetraction.

Always keep the machine in gear whengoing down slopes. Do not shift to neutraland coast downhill.

• Avoid starting, stopping, or turning on aslope. Ifthetires Iosetraction, disengagethe blades and proceed slowly straightdown the slope.

• Keep all movement on the slopes slowand gradual. Do not make suddenchanges in speed or direction, whichcould cause the machine to roll over.

• Use extra care while operating machinewith grass catchers or other attachments;they can affect the stability of the ma-chine. Do no use on steep slopes.

• Do not try to stabilize the machine byputting your foot on the ground.

• Do not mow near drop-offs, ditches,or embankments. The machine could

suddenly roll over if a wheel is over theedge or if the edge caves in.

Iii. CHILDREN

Tragic accidents can occur if the operatoris not alert to the presence of children.Children are often attracted to the machine

and the mowing activity. Never assumethat children will remain where you lastsaw them.

• Keep children out of the mowing areaand in the watchful care of a responsibleadult other than the operator.

• Be alert and turn machine off if a childenters the area.

• Before and while backing, look behindand down for small children.

• Never carry children, even with theblades shut off. They may fall off andbe seriously injured or interfere with safemachine operation. Children who havebeen given rides in the past may suddenlyappear in the mowing area for anotherride and be run over or backed over bythe machine.

• Never allow children to operate the ma-chine.

• Use extra care when approaching blindcorners, shrubs, trees, or other objectsthat may block your view of a child.

IV. TOWING

• Tow only with a machine that has a hitchdesigned for towing. Do not attach towedequipment except at the hitch point.

• Followthemanufacturer'srecommenda-

tion for weight limits for towed equipmentand towing on slopes.

• Never allow children or others in or on

towed equipment.• On slopes, theweight ofthetowed equip-

ment may cause loss of traction and lossof control.

• Travel slowly and allow extra distance tostop.

V. SERVICESAFE HANDLING OF GASOLINE

To avoid personal injury or property dam-age, use extreme care in handling gasoline.Gasoline is extremely flammable and thevapors are explosive.• Extinguish all cigarettes, cigars, pipes,

and other sources of ignition.• Use only approved gasoline container.• Never remove gas cap or add fuel with

the engine running. Allow engine to coolbefore refueling.

• Never fuel the machine indoors.• Neverstorethe machine orfuel container

where there is an open flame, spark, orpilot light such as on a water heater orother appliances.

• Never fill containers inside a vehicle or

on a truck or trailer bed with plastic liner.Always place containers on the groundaway from your vehicle when filling.

• Remove gas-powered equipment fromthe truck or trailer and refuel it on the

ground. If this is not possible, then refuelsuch equipment with a portable container,rather than from a gasoline dispensernozzle.

• Keep the nozzle in contact with the rimof the fuel tank or container opening atall times until fueling is complete. Do notuse a nozzle lock-open device.

• Iffuel is spilled on clothing, change cloth-ing immediately.

• Never overfill fuel tank. Replace gas capand tighten securely.

GENERALSERVlCE

• Never operate machine in a closedarea.

• Keep all nuts and bolts tight to be suretheequipment is in safe working condition.

• Nevertamperwithsafetydevices.Checktheir proper operation regularly.

• Keep machine free of grass, leaves, orother debris build-up. Clean oil or fuelspillage and remove any fuel-soaked de-bris. Allow machine to cool before storing.

• If you strike a foreign object, stop andinspectthe machine. Repair, if necessary,before restarting.

• Never make any adjustments or repairswith the engine running.

• Checkgrasscatchercomponentsandthedischarge chute frequently and replacewith manufacturer's recommended parts,when necessary.

• Mower blades are sharp. Wrap the bladeor wear gloves, and use extra cautionwhen servicing them.

• Check brake operation frequently. Adjustand service as required.

• Maintain orreplacesafetyand instructionlabels, as necessary.

• Be sure the area is clear of bystandersbefore operating. Stop machine if anyoneenters the area.

• Never carry passengers.

Your new tractor has been assembled at the factory with exception of those parts leftunassembledfor shipping purposes. To ensure safe and proper operationof your tractorall parts and hardware you assemble must be tightened securely. Use the correct toolsas necessaryto ensure proper tightness.

TOOLS REQUIRED FOR ASSEMBLY

A socket wrench set will make assemblyeasier. Standard wrench sizes are listed.

TO REMOVE TRACTOR FROMCARTONUNPACK CARTON

* Remove all accessible loose parts andparts cartons from carton.

* Cut along dotted lines on all four pan-els of carton. Remove end panels andlay side panels flat.

* Check for any additional loose parts orcartons and remove.

TO CHECK BATTERY

1. Lift seat to raised position.

NOTE: If this battery is put into service aftermonth and year indicated on label (label islocated between terminals) charge batteryfor minimum of one hour at 6-10 amps. (See"BATTERY" in Maintenance section of this

manual for charging instructions).

ASSEMBLE EXTENSION SHAFT ANDBOOT

1. Slide extension shaft onto lower steeringshaft.

2. Place tabs of steering boot over tab slotsin dash and push down to secure.

INSTALL STEERING WHEEL

3. Position front wheels of the tractor so

they are pointing straight forward.4. Remove steering wheel adapter from

steering wheel and slide adapter ontosteering shaft extension.

5. Position steering wheel so cross bars arehorizontal (left to right) and slide insideboot and onto adapter.

6. Assemble large flat washer, lock washer,hex bolt and tighten securely.

7. Snap steering wheel insert into center ofsteering wheel.

8. Remove protective materials from tractorhood and grill.

IMPORTANT: Check for and remove anystaples in skid that may puncture tires wheretractor is to roll off skid.

INSTALL SEAT

1. Remove bolt and flat washer securingseat to cardboard packing and set asidefor assembly of seat to tractor. Removethe cardboard packing and discard.

2. Connect switch to seat.

3. Place seat on seat pan so all three (3)bottom pads are positioned over largeslotted holes in pan.

4. Push down on seat to engage pads inslots and pull seat towards rear of tractor.

5. Raise seat and tighten bolt securely.6. Remove tape and discard.7. Lower seat into operating position and

sit on seat. Press clutch/brake pedal allthe way down. (f operating position is notcomfortable, adjust seat.

NOTE: You may now roll your tractor offthe skid. Follow the appropriate instructionbelow to remove the tractor from the skid.

_WARNING: Before starting, read,understand and follow all instructions in theOperation section of this manual. Be suretractor is in a well-ventilated area. Be surethe area in front of tractor is clear of otherpeople and objects.

TO ROLL TRACTOR OFF SKID (SeeOperation section for location and

function of controls)

1. Raise attachment lift lever to its highestposition.

2. Release parking brake by depressingclutch/brake pedal.

3. Place freewheel control in "transmis-sion disengaged position" (See "TOTRANSPORT" in Operation section ofthis manual).

4. Roll tractor forward off skid.

5. Remove banding holding the deflectorshield up against tractor.

CHECK TIRE PRESSUREThe tires on your tractor were overinflated atthe factory for shipping purposes. Correcttire pressure is important for best cuttingperformance.• Reduce tire pressure to PSi shown on

tires.

CHECK DECK LEVELNESS

For best cutting results, mower housingshould be properly leveled. See "TO LEVELMOWER" in the Service and Adjustmentssection of this manual.

CHECK FOR PROPER POSITION OFALL BELTS

See the figures that are shown for replacingmotion and mower blade drive belts in theService and Adjustments section of this man-ual. Verify that the belts are routed correctly.

CHECK BRAKE SYSTEMAfter you learn how to operate your tractor,check to see that the brake is operatingproperly. See "TO CHECK BRAKE" in theService and Adjustments section of thismanual.

Be sure Operator Presence System andReverse Operation System (ROS) areworking properly (See the Operation andMaintenance sections in this manual).It is important to purge the transmissionbefore operating your tractor for the firsttime. Follow proper starting and transmis-sion purging instructions (See "TO STARTENGINE"and "PU RGETRANSMISSION"

(A) ATTACHMENT LIFT LEVER - Used toraise and lower the mower or other attach-

ments mounted to your tractor.(B) CLUTCH/BRAKE PEDAL -Used fordeclutching and braking the tractor andstarting the engine.(C) PARKING BRAKE- Locks clutch/brakepedal into the brake position.(D) THROTTLE/CHOKE CONTROL- Usedfor starting and controlling engine speed.(E) ATTACH M ENT CLUTCH LEVER =Usedto engage the mower blades, or other attach-ments mounted to your tractor.

(F) IGNITION SWITCH - Used for startingand stopping the engine.(G) REVERSE OPERATION SYSTEM(ROS) "ON" POSITION - Allows operationof mower or other powered attachment whilein reverse.

(H) LIGHT SWITCH - Turns the headlightson and off.

The operation of any tractor can result in foreign objects thrown intothe eyes, which can result in severe eye damage. Always wear safetyglasses or eye shields while operating your tractor or performing anyadjustments or repairs. We recommend standard safety glasses or awide vision safety mask worn over spectacles.

HOW TO USE YOUR TRACTORTO SET PARKING BRAKE

Your tractor is equipped with an operatorpresence sensing switch. When engine isrunning, any attempt bythe operator to leavethe seat without first setting the parking brakewill shut off the engine.1. Depress clutch/brake pedal (B) all the

way down and hold.2. Pull parking brake lever (C) up and hold,

release pressure from clutch/brake pedal(B), then release parking brake lever. Ped-al should remain in brake position. Makesure parking brake will hold tractor secure.

• Turn ignition key (F) to "STOP" positionand remove key. Always remove keywhenleaving tractor to prevent unauthorized use.

IMPORTANT: Leaving the ignition switch inany position other than "STOP" will causethe battery to discharge and go dead.NOTE: Under certain conditions when tractor

is standing idle with the engine running, hotengine exhaust gases may cause "brown-ing" of grass. To eliminate this possibility,always stop engine when stopping tractoron grass areas.

CAUTION: Always stop tractor com-

pletely, as described above, and set parkingbrake before leaving the operator's position.

TO USE THROTTLE CONTROL (D)Always operate engine at full speed (fast).• Operating engine at less than full speed

(fast) reduces engine's operating efficiency.• Full speed (fast) offers the best mower

TO ADJUST MOWER CUTTING HEIGHT

The position of the attachment lift lever (A)determines the cutting height.

• Put attachment lift lever in desired cuttingheight slot.

The cutting height range is approximately1 "to 4". The heights are measured from theground to the blade tip with the engine not run-ning. These heights are approximate and mayvary depending upon soil conditions, heightof grass and types of grass being mowed.• The average lawn should be cut to ap-

proximately 2-1/2" during the cool sea-son and to over 3" during hot months.For healthier and better looking lawns,mow often and after moderate growth.

• For best cutting performance, grass over6" in height should be mowed twice. Makethe first cut relatively high; the second todesired height.

TO ADJUST GAUGE WHEELS

Gauge wheels are properly adjusted whenthey are slightly off the ground when moweris at the desired cutting height in operatingposition. Gauge wheels then keep the deckin proper position to help prevent scalpingin most terrain conditions.

NOTE: Adjust gauge wheels with tractor ona flat level surface.

1. Adjust mower to desired cutting height(See "TO ADJUST MOWER CUTTINGHEIGHT" in this section of manual).

2. With mower in desired height of cut posi-tion, gauge wheels should be assembledso they are slightly offthe ground. Installgauge wheel in appropriate hole. Tightensecurely.

3. Repeat for all, installing gauge wheel insame adjustment hole.

TO OPERATE MOWER

Your tractor is equipped with an operatorpresence sensing switch. Any attemptby the operator to leave the seat with theengine running and the attachment clutchengaged will shut off the engine. You mustremain fully and centrally positioned in theseat to prevent the engine from hesitating orcutting off when operating your equipmenton rough, rolling terrain or hills.1. REVERSE OPERATION SYSTEM (ROS)

Your tractor is equipped with a ReverseOperation System (ROS), Any attempt bythe operator to travel in the reverse directionwith the attachment clutch engaged will shutoff the engine unless ignition key is placedin the ROS "ON" position.

_,WARNING" Backing up with the at-tachment clutch engaged while mowing isstrongly discouraged. Turning the ROS "ON",to allow reverse operation with the attach-ment clutch engaged, should only be donewhen the operator decides it is necessary toreposition the machine with the attachmentengaged. Do not mow in reverse unlessabsolutely necessary.

USING THE REVERSE OPERATIONSYSTEM -

Only use ifyou are certain no children or otherbystanders will enter the mowing area.1. Move motion control lever to neutral

position.2. With engine running, turn ignition key

counterclockwise to ROS "ON" posi-tion.

3. Look down and behind before and while

backing.4. Slowly move motion control lever to

reverse (R) position to start movement.5. When use ofthe ROS is no longer needed,

turn the ignition key clockwise to engine"ON" position.

Tow only the attachments that are recom-mended by and comply with specificationsof the manufacturer of your tractor. Usecommon sense when towing. Too heavy ofa load, while on a slope, is dangerous. Tirescan lose traction with the ground and causeyou to lose control of your tractor.

BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINECHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL

The engine in your tractor has been shipped,from the factory, already filled with summerweight oil.1. Check engine oil with tractor on level

ground.2. Remove oil fill cap/dipstick and wipe

clean, reinsert the dipstick and screw captight, wait for a few seconds, remove andread oil level. If necessary, add oil until"FULL' mark on dipstick is reached. Donot overfill.

• For cold weather operation you shouldchange oil for easier starting (See the oilviscosity chart in the Maintenance sectionof this manual).

• To change engine oil, seethe Maintenancesection in this manual.

ADD GASOLINE

• Fill fuel tank to bottom of filler neck. Do not

overfill. Usefresh, clean, regular unleadedgasoline with a minimum of 87 octane.(Use of leaded gasoline will increasecarbon and lead oxide deposits and reducevalve life). Do not mix oil with gasoline.Purchase fuel in quantities that can be usedwithin 30 days to ensure fuel freshness.

A_ILOAUTION: Wipe off any spilled oil or fuel.Do not store, spill or use gasoline near anopen flame.IMPORTANT: When operating in tempera-tures below 32°F(0°C), use fresh, cleanwinter grade gasoline to help insure goodcold weather starting.CAUTION: Alcohol blended fuels (calledgasohol or using ethanol or methanol) canattract moisture which leads to separationand formation of acids during storage. Acidicgas can damage the fuel system of an enginewhile in storage. To avoid engine problems,the fuel system should be emptied beforestorage of 30 days or longer. Drain the gastank, start the engine and let it run until thefue! lines and carburetor are empty. Usefreshfuel next season. See Storage Instructions foradditional information. Never use engine orcarburetor cleaner products in the fuel tankor permanent damage may occur.

TO START ENGINE

When starting the engine for the first time orif the engine has run out of fuel, it will takeextra cranking time to move fuel from thetank to the engine.1. Be sure freewheel control is in the trans-

mission engaged position.2. Sit on seat in operating position, depress

clutch/brake pedal and set parking brake.

3. Place motion control lever in neutral

position.4. Move attachment clutch to disengaged

position.5. Move throttle control to choke position.NOTE: Before starting, read the warm andcold starting procedures below.6. Insert key into ignition and turn key

clockwise to start position and releasekey as soon as engine starts. Do not runstarter continuously for more than fifteenseconds per minute. If the engine doesnot start after several attempts, movethrottle control to fast position, wait afew minutes and try again. If engine stilldoes not start, move the throttle controlback to the choke position and retry.

WARM WEATHER STARTING (50°F/10°Cand above)

7. When engine starts, move the throttlecontrol to the fast position.

• The attachments and ground drive cannow be used. Ifthe engine does not acceptthe load, restart the engine and allow it towarm up for one minute using the chokeas described above.

COLD WEATHER STARTING (50°F/10°Cand below)

7. When engine starts, leave throttle controlin choke position until engine warms upand begins to run roughly. Once roughrunning begins, immediately move thethrottle control to the fast position. Enginewarm-up may take from several secondsto several minutes (the colder the tem-perature, the longer the warm-up).

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WARM UP

Before driving the unit in cold weather, thetransmission should be warmed up as fol-lows:

1. Be sure the tractor is on level ground.2. Placethe motion control leverin

neutral. Release the parking brakeand let the clutch/brake slowly returnto operating position.

3. Allow one minute fortransmission towarm up. This can be done duringthe engine warm up period.

• The attachments can also be used dur-

ing the engine warm-up period after thetransmission has been warmed up.

NOTE: If at a high altitude (above 3000feet) or in cold temperatures (below 32 ° F)the carburetor fuel mixture may need to beadjusted for best engine performance (see"TO ADJUST CARBURETOR" in the Service

and Adjustments section of this manual).

PURGE TRANSMISSIONAAltCAUTION: Never engage or disengagefreewheel lever while the engine is running.

To ensure proper operation and performance,it is recommended that the transmission bepurged before operating tractor for the firsttime. This procedure will remove any trappedair inside the transmission which may havedeveloped during shipping of your tractor.

IMPORTANT: Should your transmissionrequire removal for service or replacement,it should be purged after reinstallation beforeoperating the tractor.

1. Place tractor safely on a level surface -that is clear of objects and open - withengine off and parking brake set.

2. Disengage transmission by placingfreewheel control in disengaged position(See "TO TRANSPORT" in this sectionof manual).

3. Sitting in the tractor seat, start engine.After the engine is running, move throttlecontrol to slow position. With motioncontrol lever in neutral position, slowlydisengage clutch/brake pedal.

_/I, CAUTION: At any time, during step 4,there may be movement of the drive wheels.

4. Move motion control lever to full forward

position and hold for five (5) seconds.Move lever to full reverse position andhold for five (5) seconds. Repeat thisprocedure three (3) times.

5. Move motion control lever to neutral

position. Shutoff engine and set parkingbrake.

6. Engage transmission by placing free-wheel control in engaged position (See"TO TRANSPORT" in this section of

manual).7. Sitting in the tractor seat, start engine.

After the engine is running, move throttlecontrol to half (1/2) speed. With motioncontrol lever in neutral position, slowlydisengage clutch/brake pedal.

8. Slowly move motion control leverforward,after the tractor moves approximatelyfive (5) feet, slowly move motion controllever to reverse position. After the tractormoves approximately five (5) feet returnthe motion control lever to the neutral

position. Repeat this procedure with themotion control lever three (3) times.

Your transmission is now purged and nowready for normal operation.

MOWING TIPSo Tire chains cannot be used when the

mower housing is attached to tractor.Mower should be properly leveled for bestmowing performance. See "TO LEVELMOWER HOUSING" in the Service and

Adjustments section of this manual.The left hand side of mower should beused for trimming.Drive so that clippings are discharged ontothe area that has already been cut. Havethe cut area to the right ofthe tractor. Thiswill result in a more even distribution ofclippings and more uniform cutting.When mowing large areas, start byturningto the right so that clippings will dischargeaway from shrubs, fences, driveways,etc. After one or two rounds, mow in theopposite direction making left hand turnsuntil finished.

• If grass is extremely tall, it should bemowed twice to reduce load and possiblefire hazard from dried clippings. Makefirst cut relatively high; the second to thedesired height.

o Do not mow grass when it is wet. Wetgrass will plug mower and leave undesir-able clumps. Allow grass to dry beforemowing.

• Always operate engine at full throttlewhen mowing to ensure better mow-ing performance and proper dischargeof material. Regulate ground speed byselecting a low enough speed to give themower cutting performance as well as thequality of cut desired.

• When operating attachments, select aground speed that will suit the terrain andgive best performance of the attachmentbeing used.

BATTERY

Your tractor has a battery charging systemwhich is sufficient for normal use. However,periodic charging of the battery with an au-tomotive charger will extend its life.• Keep battery and terminals clean.

• Keep battery bolts tight.

• Keep small vent holes open.

• Recharge at 6-10 amperes for 1 hour.NOTE: The original equipment battery on yourtractor is maintenance free. Do not attemptto open or remove caps or covers. Adding orchecking level of electrolyte is not necessary.

TO CLEAN BATTERY AND TERMINALS

Corrosion and dirt on the battery and terminalscan cause the battery to "leak" power.1. Disconnect BLACK battery cable first

then RED battery cable and removebattery from tractor.

2. Rinsethe battery with plain waterand dry.3. Clean terminals and battery cable ends

with wire brush until bright.4. Coat terminals with grease or petroleum

jelly.5. Reinstall battery (See "REPLACING

BATTERY" in the SERVICE AND AD-JUSTMENTS section of this manual).

TRANSAXLE COOLING

The transmission fan and cooling fins shouldbe kept clean to ensure proper cooling.Do not attempt to clean fan or transmissionwhile engine is running or while the trans-mission is hot. To prevent possible damageto seals, do not use high pressure water orsteam to clean transaxle.• Inspect cooling fan to be sure fan blades

are intact and clean.

• Inspect cooling fins for dirt, grass clippingsand other materials. To prevent damage toseals, do not use compressed air or highpressure sprayer to clean cooling fins.

TRANSAXLE PUMP FLUID

The transaxle was sealed at the factory andfluid maintenance is not required for the lifeof the transaxle. Should the transaxle ever

leak or require servicing, contact your nearestSears or other qualified service center.

V-BELTSCheck V-belts for deterioration and wear after100 hours of operation and replace if neces-sary. The belts are not adjustable. Replacebelts if they begin to slip from wear.

ENGINELUBRICATION

Only use high quality detergent oil rated withAPI service classification SG-SL. Select the

oil's SAE viscosity grade according to yourexpected operating temperature.NOTE: Although multi-viscosity oils (5W30,10W30 etc.) improve starting in cold weather,they will result in increased oil consumptionwhen used above 32°R Check your engineoil level more frequently to avoid possibleengine damage from running low on oil.Change the oil after every 50 hours of opera-tion or at least once a year if the tractor isnot used for 50 hours in one year.Check the crankcase oil level before startingthe engine and after each eight (8) hours ofoperation. Tighten oil fill cap/dipstick se-curely each time you check the oil level.

TO CHANGE ENGINE OIL

Determine temperature range expectedbefore oil change. All oil must meet APIservice classification SG-SL• Be sure tractor is on level surface.

3. Unlock drain valve by pushing inwardslightly and turning counterclockwise.

4. To open, pull out on the drain valve.5. After oil has drained completely, close and

6. Remove the drain tube and replace thecap onto the end of the drain valve.

7. Refill engine with oil through oil fill dipsticktube. Pour slowly. Do not overfill. Forapproximate capacity see "PRODUCTSPECI FICATIO NS" section ofthis manual.

8. Use gauge on oil fill cap/dipstick forchecking level. For accurate reading,insert dipstick into the tube and pushdown firmly into place before removing.Keep oil up to, but not over, the "FULl"line on dipstick. Push dipstick down firmlyinto the tube when finished.

ENGINE OIL FILTER

Replace the engine oil filter every season orevery other oil change if the tractor is usedmore than 100 hours in one year.

AIR FILTER

Your engine will not run properly using a dirtyair filter. Service air cleaner more often under

dusty conditions. See Engine Manual.

CLEAN AIR SCREEN

Air screen must be kept free of dirt and chaffto prevent engine damage from overheating,Clean with a wire brush or compressed airtoremove dirt and stubborn dried gum fibers.

Debris may clog the engine's air coolingsystem. Remove blower housing and cleanarea shown to prevent overheating andengine damage.

Turn ignition key to "STOP" and remove key.5. Make sure the blades and all moving parts have completely stopped.6. Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug and place wire where it cannot

come in contact with plug.

GAGED" position.2. Lower attachment lift lever to its lowest

position.3. Roll belt off engine pulley (M) and belt

keepers (G).4. Remove retainer spring (K), slide collar

(L) off and push housing guide (P) outof bracket.

5. Remove clutch cable spring (Q) fromidler arm (R).

6. Disconnect front link (E) from mower -remove retainer spring and washer.

7. Go to either side of mower and discon-

nect mower suspension arm (A) fromchassis pin (B) and rear lift link (C) fromrear mower bracket (D) - remove retainersprings and washers.

Al_ CAUTION: After rear lift links are discon-

nected, the attachment lift lever will be springloaded. Have a tight grip on lift lever whenchanging position of the lever.

8. Slide mower out from under right side oftractor.

IMPORTANT: If an attachment other than

the mower is to be mounted on the tractor,remove the front link (E) and rear lift links(C) from tractor and hook the clutch spring(Q) into the cable guide on front edge oflower dash.

TO LEVEL MOWER

Make sure tires are properly inflated to thePSI shown on tires. Iftires are over or under

inflated, it may affect the appearance of yourlawn and lead you to think the mower is notadjusted properly.

VISUAL SIDE-TO-SIDE ADJUSTMENT

1. With all tires properly inflated and if yourlawn appears unevenly cut, determinewhich side of mower is cutting lower.

2. With a 3/4" or adjustable wrench, turn liftlink adjustment nut (A) to the left to lowerLH side of mower, or, to the right to raiseLH side of mower.

NOTE: Each full turn of adjustment nut willchange mower height about 3/16".

TO CHECK BRAKE

If tractor requires more than five (5) feet tostop at highest speed in highest gear on alevel, dry concrete or paved surface, thenbrake must be serviced.

You may also check brake by:1. Park tractor on a level, dry concrete or

paved surface, depress brake pedal allthe way down and engage parking brake.

2. Disengage transmission by placingfreewheel control in "transmission dis-

engaged" position. Pull freewheel controlout and into the slot and release so it isheld in the disengaged position.

The rear wheels must lock and skid when

you try to manually push the tractor forward.If the rear wheels rotate, then the brakeneeds to be serviced. Contact a Sears or

other qualified service center.

TO ADJUST STEERING WHEELALIGNMENT

If steering wheel crossbars are not horizontal(left to right) when wheels are positionedstraight forward, remove steering wheel andreassemble per instructions in the Assemblysection of this manual.

FRONT WHEEL TOE-IN/CAMBERYour new tractor front wheel toe-in and

camber is set at the factory and is normal.The front wheel toe-in and camber are not

adjustable. If damage has occurred to affectthe factory set front wheel toe-in or camber,contact a qualified service center.

TRANSAXLE MOTION CONTROL LEVERNEUTRAL ADJUSTMENT

The motion control lever has been presetat the factory; adjustment should not benecessary.

1. Loosen adjustment bolt in front of theright rear wheel, and lightly tighten.

2. Start engine and move motion controllever until tractor does not move forwardor backward.

3. Hold motion control lever in that positionand turn engine off.

4. While holding motion control lever inplace, loosen the adjustment bolt.

1. Loosen the adjustment bolt.

2. Move the motion control lever 1/4 to 1/2inch in the direction it is trying to creep.

3. Tighten adjustment bolt securely.

4. Start engine and test.

5. If tractor still creeps, repeat above stepsuntil satisfied.

prevents tire dry rot and corrosion.

TO START ENGINE WITH WEAK BATTERY

,_WARNING: Lead-acid batteries gener-ate explosive gases. Keep sparks, flameand smoking materials away from batteries.Always wear eye protection when aroundbatteries.If your battery is too weak to start the engine, itshould be recharged. (See "BATTERY" in theMAINTENANCE section of this manual).If "jumper cables" are used for emergencystarting, follow this procedure:IMPORTANT: Your tractor is equipped witha 12 volt system. The other vehicle must alsobe a 12 volt system. Do not use your tractorbattery to start other vehicles.

TO ATTACH JUMPER CABLES -

1. Connect one endofthe RED cable to the

POSITIVE (+) terminal of each battery(A-B), taking care not to short against tractorchassis.

2. Connect one end of the BLACK cable

to the NEGATIVE (-) terminal (C) of fullycharged battery.

3. Connect the other end of the BLACK

cable (D) to good chassis ground, awayfrom fuel tank and battery.

5. Touch up all rusted or chipped paintsurfaces; sand lightly before painting.

BATTERY

• Fully charge the battery for storage.• After a period of time in storage, battery

may require recharging.• To help prevent corrosion and power leak-

age during long periods of storage, batterycables should be disconnected and bat-

tery cleaned thoroughly (see "TO CLEANBATTERY AND TERMINALS" in the

Maintenance section of this manual).• After cleaning, leave cables disconnected

and place cables where they cannot comein contact with battery terminals.

• If battery is removed from tractor forstorage, do not store battery directly onconcrete or damp surfaces.

ENGINEFUEL SYSTEM

IMPORTANT: It is important to preventgum deposits from forming in essential fuelsystem parts such as carburetor, fuel hose,ortank during storage. Also, alcohol blendedfuels (called gasohol or using ethanol ormethanol) can attract moisture which leadsto separation and formation of acids duringstorage. Acidic gas can damage the fuelsystem of an engine while in storage.• Empty the fuel tank by starting the engine

and letting it run until the fuel lines andcarburetor are empty.

• Never use engine or carburetor cleanerproducts in the fuel tank or permanentdamage may occur.

• Use fresh fuel next season.NOTE: Fuel stabilizer is an acceptable a!-ternative in minimizing the formation of fuelgum deposits during storage. Add stabilizerto gasoline in fuel tank or storage container.Always follow the mix ratio found on stabilizercontainer. Run engine at least 10 minutesafter adding stabilizer to allowthe stabilizer toreach the carburetor. Do not empty the gastank and carburetor if using fuel stabilizer.ENGINE OIL

Drain oil (with engine warm) and replacewith clean engine oil. (See "ENGINE" in theMaintenance section of this manual).CYLINDER(S)

1. Remove spark plug(s).2. Pour one ounce of oil through spark plug

hole(s) into cylinder(s).3. Turn ignition key to "START" position for

a few seconds to distribute oil,

• Do not store gasoline from one season toanother.

• Replace your gasoline can if your can startsto rust. Rust and/or dirt in your gasolinewill cause problems.

• If possible, store your tractor indoors andcover it to give protection from dust and dirt.

• Cover your tractor with a suitable protec-tive cover that does not retain moisture.

Do not use plastic. Plastic cannot breathewhich allows condensation to form and will

cause your tractor to rust.IMPORTANT: Never cover tractor while

engine and exhaust areas are still warm.

I. FUNCIONAMIENTO GENERAL• Leer, entender y seguirtodas las instrucciones

sobre la m_,quina yen el manual antes deempezar.

• No poner las manos o los pies cerca de partesgiratorias o debajo de la mgtquina, mantenersiempre limpia la abertura de descarga.

• Permitir el funcionamiento de la mgtquina s61oa adultos que tengan familiaridad con lasinstrucciones.

• Limpiar el area de objetos como piedras,juguetes, cables, etc. que pueden ser recogi-dos y disparados con las cuchillas.

• Asegurarse de que el area este libre de otraspersonas antes de ponerla en marcha. Pararla mgtquina si alguien entra en el area.

• Nunca Ilevar pasajeros.• No cortar marcha atras al no ser absolu-

tamente necesario. Mirar siempre abajo ydelante mientras se procede atrgts.

• Nunca dirigir el material descargado hacia na-die. Evitar descargar material contra paredesu obstrucciones. El material podria rebotarhacia el operador. Parar las cuchillas cuandose pasan superficies de grava.

• No maneje la maquina si no tiene la trampapara cesped completa, la canaleta de descargau otros dispositivos de seguridad en su lugaryen funcionamiento.

• Ralentizar antes de girar.• Nunca dejar una maquina encendida sin vigi-

lancia. Apagar siempre las cuchillas, poner elfreno de estacionamiento, parar el motor, yquitar las Ilaves antes de bajar.

• Desenganche las hojas cuando no estecortando cesped. Apague el motor y esperehasta que todas las partes se detengan porcompleto antes de limpiar la maquina, retirarla trampa para cesped o destapar la canaletade descarga.

• Hacer funcionar la mgtquina s61o con la luz deldia o luz artificial buena.

• No hacer funcionar la mgtquina estando bajolos efectos de alcohol o droga.

• Poner atenci6n al trafico cuando se operacerca de calles o se cruzan.

•Poner la maxima atenci6n al cargar o descar-gar la mgtquina en una caravana o cami6n.

• Llevar siempre gafas de protecci6n cuando sehace funcionar la m_tquina.

• Los datos indican que los operadores a partirde los 60 aflos est_,n afectados por un granporcentaje de heridas relativas a la conducci6ndel cortacesped. Estos operadores tendrianque evaluar su habilidad de hacer funcionarel cortacesped de modo Io bastante seguropara proteger a si mismos y a otras personasde heridas graves.

• Seguir las recomendaciones del fabricantepara los pesos y contrapesos de las ruedas.

• Mantener la maquina libre de hierba, hojasu otros escombros que pueden tocar eltubo de escape / partes del motor calientesy quemarse. No permitir que el puente delcortacesped cargue hojas u otros residuosque pueden causar acumulaciones. Limpiartoda salpicadura de aceite o carburante antesde hacer operaciones sobre la m_,quina oguardarla. Dejarla enfriar antes de guardarla.

II. FUNCIONAMIENTO EN PENDIENTESLas pendientes son el mayor factor de acci-dentes relativos a la perdida de control y vuelco,que pueden causar severas heridas o muerte.El funcionamiento en pendientes requiere unaatenci6n extra. Si no es posible hacer marchaatras en una pendiente o si te sientes incomodo,no la cortes.• Cortar hacia arriba y abajo de una pendiente,

no de modo horizontal.• Poner atenciones a los hoyos, las raices, los

bultos, las piedras u otros objetos escondidos.El terreno irregular puede volcar la maquina.La hierba alta puede esconder obst_,culos.

• Escoger una velocidad de marcha baja demodo que no sea necesario pararse o cambiarestando en una pendiente.

• No cortar la hierba mojada. Las ruedas puedenperder tracci6n.Poner siempre una marcha cuando se est&en pendientes. No poner en punto muerto e ircuesta abajo.

• Evitar arrancar, pararse o girar en una pendi-ente. Si las ruedas pierden tracci6n, desconec-tar las cuchillas y proceder despacio cuestaabajo en la pendiente.

• Mantener todo los movimientos en las pen-dientes lentos y gradual. No hacer cambiosrepentinos de velocidad o direcci6n, ya quepueden causar el escape de la maquina.

• Poner la m&xima atenci6n cuando la maquinafunciona con captadores de hierba u otrosdispositivos enganchados; pueden afectar laestabilidad de la m&quina. No usar en pendi-entes empinados.

• No intentar estabilizar la m&quina poniendo elpie en el terreno.

• No cortar cerca de bajadas, cunetas y orillas.Las m&quina puede volcarse improvisamentesi una rueda est,. en el borde o se hunde.

III. NINOSSi el operador no pone atenci6n a la presenciade los niflos pueden ocurrir accidentes tragicos.Los niflos a menudo estan atraidos por la maqui-nay las actividad de cortar. No dar pot hechode que los niflos se queden adonde estaban laQltima vez que los vistes.• Mantener los niflos fuera del 6.tea de corte y

vigilados por un adulto responsable que no seael operador.

• Estar alerta y apagar la m&quina si un niflosentra en el &tea.

• Antes y durante la marcha atras, mirar adelantey abajo para vet si hay niflos pequeflos.

• Nunca Ilevar niflos, incluso si hay las cuchillasapagadas. Podrian caer y herirse seriamenteo interferir con el funcionamiento seguro de lamaquina, los niflos que se han Ilevado prec-edentemente pueden aparecer de pronto en elarea de corte pot otto paseo y ser atropelladoso tumbados por la m&quina.

• Nunca dejar que los niflos manipulen lamaquina.

• Tenet el maximo cuidado cuando se acerca acantos ciegos, arbustos, arboles u otros obje-tos que pueden impedir la vista de niflos.

IV. REMOLQUE• Remolcar s61o con una maquina que tenga un

gancho diseflado para remolcar. Enganchar elequipo o remolcar s61o en el punto dispuestoal efecto.

• Seguir las recomendaciones del productor conrespecto a los limites del equipo por remolcary el remolque en pendientes.

• Nunca permitir que niflos u otras personasest@n dentro del equipo por remolcar.

• En pendientes, el peso del equipo remolcadopuede causar la p@rdida de tracci6n y la p@r-dida de control.

• Viajar despacio y dejar m&s distancia parafrenar.

V. SERVIClO

MANIPULACl6N SEGURA DE LA GASOLINAPara evitar heridas personales o daflos alascosas, poner el m&ximo cuidado a la hora de ma-nipular la gasolina. La gasolina es extremamenteinflamable y los vapores son explosivos.• Apagar todos los cigarrillos, cigarros, pipas y

otras fuentes de ignici6n.• Usar s61o contenedores para gasolina aproba-

dos.• Nunca quitar el tap6n de la gasolina o afladir

carburante con el motor en marcha, dejarenfriar el motor antes del abastecimiento dela gasolina.

• Nunca abastecer la m&quina al interior de unlocal.

• Nunca guardar la m&quina o el contenedordel carburante donde haya una llama abierta,chispas o una luz piloto como un calentadorde agua u otros dispositivos.

• Nunca Ilenar los contenedores al interior deun vehiculo o en una caravana o cami6nrecubiertos con un forro de pl&stico. Colocarsiempre los contenedores en el terreno lejosdel vehiculo cuando se est& Ilenando.

• Quitar el equipo de gas del cami6n o caravanay abastecerlo en el terreno. Si no es posible,abastecer dicho equipo con un contenedor por-t&til, m&s bien que de un surtidor de gasolina.

• Mantener la boquilla a contacto del bordedel dep6sito de carburante o la abertura delcontenedor durante toda la operaci6n deabastecimiento. No utilizar un dispositivo conboquilla cerrada-abierta.

• Si se vierte carburante sobre la ropa, cambi-arse la ropa inmediatamente.

• Nunca Ilenar el dep6sito m&s de Io debido.Volver a colocar el tap6n del gas y cerrar demodo firme.

OPERACIONES DE SERVIClO GENERALES

• Nunca hacer funcionar la m&quina en un &reacerrada.

• Mantener todas las tuercas y pernos apretadospara asegurarse de que trabaja en condicionesseguras.

• Nunca modificar los dispositivos de seguridad.Controlar su correcto funcionamiento regular-mente.

• Nunca hacer ningQn ajuste o reparaci6n conel motor en funci6n.

• Verifique los componentes de la trampa paracesped y la canaleta de descarga con frecuen-cia y sustituya con repuestos recomendadospor el fabricante cuando sea necesario.

• Las cuchillas del cortacesped son afiladas.Envolver la cuchilla, ponerse guantes y ponerla mgtxima atenci6n cuando se hacen opera-clones en elias.

• Controlar el funcionamiento del freno frecuent-emente. Ajustar y hacer las operaciones demantenimiento cuando eso sea necesario.

• Mantener y sustituir las etiquetas de seguridade instrucci6n, cuando sea necesario.

• Asegurarse de que el area este libre de otraspersonas antes de ponerla en marcha, para lamaquina si alguien entra en el area.

PARA REMOVER EL TRACTOR DE LACAJA DE CARTONDESEMPAQUE LA CAJA DE CARTON

• Remueva todas las partes sueltas que estenaccesibles, y las cajas de partes, de la cajade cart6n grande.

• Cortar a Io largo de las lineas de puntos en todoslos cuatro paneles de cart6n. Remover los pa-neles de cierre y aplanar los paneles laterales.

• Revise si hay partes sueltas adicionales ocart6n y remuevalas.

1. Deslice el eje de extensi6n sobre el eje delvolante inferior.

2. Ponga las orejas del accesorio de transici6nde la direcci6n sobre las ranuras para lasorejas, en el tablero, y empQjelas hacia abajopara asegurarlas.

INSTALACION DEL VOLANTE DE DIREC-ClON

3. Ponga las ruedas delanteras del tractor paraque esten indicadas hacia adelante.

4. Remueva el adaptador del volante y desliceel adaptador sobre la extensi6n del eje dedirecci6n.

5. Ponga el volante de direcci6n de manera quelas barras transversales queden horizontales(izquierda a derecha) y deslicelo al interior deleje y sobre el adaptador.

6. Monte la arandela plana grande, arandelade seguridad 5/16, perno hexagonal 5/16 enforma segura.

7. Presione el inserto del volante de direcci6nen el centro de este.

8. Remueva el embalage de cart6n del Capotay de la rejilla.

INIPORTANTE: Revise y remueva todas lasgrampas en la corredera porque puden perforarlas Nantas en donde el tractor tiene que rodarpara saNrse de ella.

INSTALACl6N DEL ASlENTOAjuste el asiento antes de apretar el perno deajuste.1. Remueva la perno y la arandela plana que

aseguran el asiento al empaque de cart6ny p6ngalos de lado para poder utilizarlosdurante la instalaci6n del asiento sobre eltractor. Remueva y desechese del embalajede cart6n.

2. Conecte el interruptor con el asiento.

3. Colocar el asiento y en el asiento del re-cipiente de manera que la tres (3) cojins esteposicionada en el agujero ancho ranurado enel recipiente.

4. Empujar en el asiento para enganchar elcojins en la ranura y empujar el asiento haciala parte trasera del tractor.

5. Levante el asiento y apriete la perno de ajusteen forma segura.

6. Remueva y desechese del cinta.7. Baje el asiento a la posici6n de operaci6n y

sientese en el asiento. Presione el pedal delembrague/freno completamente hasta abajo.Si la posici6n de operaci6n no est& c6moda,ajuste el asiento.

PARA AJUSTAR EL ASIENTO: Agarre elmango de ajuste y lev&ntese, deslice el asiento a laposici6n deseada y suelte el mango de ajuste.

AVISO: Ahora puede rodar o conducir su tractorfuera de la corredera. Siga las siguientes instruc-ciones para remover el tractor de la corredera.

La operaci6n de cualquier tractor puede hacer que salten objetos extraflosdentro de sus ojos, Io que puede producir daflos graves en estos. Siernpre use |anteojos de seguridad o protecciones para los ojos mientras opere su tractor |o cuando haga ajustes o reparaciones. Recomendarnos gafas de seguridad o |una rnascara de visi6n arnplia de seguridad usada sobre las gafas.

COMO USAR SU TRACTORPARA AJUSTAR EL FRENO DE ESTACIONA=MIENTOSu tractor viene equipado con un interruptor sen-sor que exige la presencia del operador. Cuandoel motor est& funcionando, si el operador trata debajarse del asiento sin primero aplicar el freno deestacionamiento, se apagar& el motor.1. Presione el pedal (D) del freno/embrague

completamente y sostengalo.2. Jale hacia arriba la palanca de! freno de mano

(H) y mantengala en esa posici6n; suelte grad-ualmente el pedal del embrague/freno (D), yluego suelte la palanca del freno de mano.El pedal tiene que quedar en la posici6n defreno. AsegQrese que el freno de estaciona-miento va a sujetar el tractor en forma segura.

• Nunca use la estrangulaci6n para parar elmotor.

IMPORTANTE: Dejando el interruptor de laignici6n en cualquier posici6n otra que "STOP"causar i que la bateria se descargue (muerta).

AVlSO: Bajo ciertas condiciones, cuando el trac-tor est6 parado con e! motor andando en vacio,los gases de escape del motor caliente puedenhacer que el cesped se ponga "cafe." Paraeliminar esta posibilidad, siempre pare el motorcuando pare el tractor en gtreas con cesped.

_PREOAUOI6N: Siempre pare el tractor com-pletamente, segQn se ha descrito anteriormente,antes de abandonar la posici6n del operador.

PARA USAR EL CONTROL DE LA ACELER-ACION (D)Siempre opere el motor a una aceleraci6ncompleta.• Si el motor funciona a una velocidad inferior a la

mgtxima (rgtpida), su rendimiento disminuye.• El rendimiento 6primo se obtiene a lavelocidad

m&xima (r&pida).

PARADACUCHILLAS DE LA SEGADORA-• Mueva el control del embrague del accesorio

a la posici6n "DESENGANCHADO" (1"_=1).

PARA MOVERSE HACIA ADELANTE Y HACIAATRASLa direcci6n y la velocidad del movimiento soncontroladas por medio de la palanca de controlde movimiento (J).

IMPULSION DE RECORRIDO -• Para parar el mecanismo impulsor, presione el

pedal del freno/embrague completamente.• Mueva la palanca de control de movimiento

a la posici6n de neutro.MOTOR -• Mueva el control de la aceleraci6n (D) a la

posici6n de lento.AVlSO: Si no se mueve el control de la aceler-aci6n a la posici6n de lento y se permite que elmotor ande en vacio antes de pararlo puedeproducir la contraexplosi6n del motor.

• Gire la Ilave de ignici6n (F) a la posici6n deapagado "STOP" y remueva la Ilave al abando-nar el tractor para evitar el uso no autorizado.

1. Haga arrancar el motor con la palanca de con-trol de movimiento en la posici6n de neutro.

2. Suelte el freno de estacionamiento.3. Lentamente, mueva la palanca de control de

movimiento a la posici6n deseada.

PARA AJUSTAR LA ALTURA DE CORTE DELA SEGADORALa posici6n de la palanca elevadora (A) determinaa que altura se cortar& el cesped.

• Coloque la palanca elevadora en la ranura dela altura deseada.

La gama de la altura de corte es de aproxima-damente 1 a 4 pulgadas. Las alturas se midendesde el suelo a la punta de la cuchilla cuandoel motor no estgt funcionando. Estas alturas sonaproximadas y pueden variar dependiendo de lascondiciones del suelo, de la altura del cesped ydel tipo del cesped que se esta segando.• El cesped promedio debe cortarse aproximada-

mente a 2-1/2 pulgadas durante la temporadafria y sobre 3 pulgadas durante los mesescalurosos. Para obtener un cesped mas salud-able y de mejor apariencia, siegue a menudoy despues de un crecimiento moderado.

• Para obtener el mejor rendimiento de corte, elcesped que tiene mas de 6 pulgadas de alturadebe segarse dos veces. Haga el primer corte rel-ativamente alto; el segundo a la altura deseada.

PARA AJUSTAR LAS RUEDASCALIBRADORASLas ruedas calibradoras estgtn bien ajustadascuando se encuentran un poco a distancia delterreno al mismo tiempo que la segadora este ala altura de corte deseada. Entonces las ruedascalibradoras mantienen el conjunto segador enposici6n para prevenir el corte raspeo en casitodos los terrenos.

AVlSO: Ajuste las ruedas calibradoras con eltractor en una superficie nivelada plana.

1. Ajuste la segadora a la altura de cortedeseada con la manilla de ajuste de al-tura (Vea "PARA AJUSTAR LA ALTURA DECORTE DE LA SEGADORA" en la secci6nde Operaci6n de este manual).

2. Con la segadora a la altura deseada para laposici6n de corte, se tienen que montar lasruedas calibradoras de modo que quedenun poco sobre el suelo. Instale las ruedascalibradoras en el agujero adecuado con elperno con resalto, la arandela de 3/8, y latuerca de seguridad de 3/8-16 y aprietelosen forma segura.

3. Repita el procedimiento para el lado opuestoinstalando la rueda calibradora en el mismoagujero de ajuste.

PARA OPERAR LA SEGADORASu tractor viene equipada con un interruptorsensor que exige la presencia del operador. Siel motor est& funcionando y el embrague del ac-cesorio est& enganchado y el operador trata debajarse del asiento, se apagar& el motor. Tieneque mantenerse sentado completa y centralmenteen el asiento para impedir que el motor vacile ose apague cuando se opere su equipo en terrenodisparejo, &spero o en cerros.1. Seleccione la altura de corte deseada.2. Baje la segadora con el control de levan-

tamiento del accesorio.3. Haga arrancar las cuchillas de la segadora

enganchando el control del embrague delaccesorio.

PARA PARAR LAS CUCHILLAS DE LA SE-GADORAdesenganche el control del embrague del ac-cesorio.

Ai_,PRECAUCl6N: No opere la segadora sin,ya sea, el recogedor de cesped completo en lassegadoras asi equipadas o con la protecci6ncontra la descarga (S) en su lugar.

FUNCIONAMIENTO ATRASTu tractor est& equipado con el Sistema de Fun-cionamiento Atr&s (ROS). Cualquier tentativa deloperador de viajar marcha atr&s con el embraguepuesto apagar& el motor a menos que la Ilave deignici6n s.e ponga en la posici6n de "ON" del ROS.ATENClON: Ir marcha atr&s con e! embraguepuesto para cortar, no es recomendable. Po-niendo el ROSen posici6n "ON", para permitir elfuncionamiento atr&s con el embrague puesto, setiene que hacer s61o cuando el operador Io consi-dera necesario para reposicionar la m&quina conel dispositivo embragado. No siegue en reves amenos que sea absolutamente necesario.USAR EL SISTEMA DE FUNCIONAMIENTOATRAS -

Utilice el tractor solamente si est,. seguro de queno ingresar&n nihos ni otras personas o animalesal &rea donde se va a cortar el cesped.

1. Mover la palanca de mando del movimientoen la posici6n neutro.

2. Con el motor en marcha, girar la Ilave del in-terruptor de la ignici6n en el sentido inverso alde las agujas del reloj hasta la posici6n "ON".

3. Mire hacia abajo y hacia atr&s no s61o antesde ir marcha atras, sino mientras este yendomarcha atras.

4. Mover despacio la palanca de mando delmovimiento hacia la posici6n atras (R) paraempezar el movimiento.

5. Cuando el uso del ROS es mas necesario, devuelta a la Ilave de ignici6n en el sentido delas agujas del reloj hasta la posici6n "ON".

PARA OPERAR EN CERROS

_i:_ADVERTENClA: No maneje hacia arriba ohacia abajo en cerros con pendientes superiores a15 ° y no maneje atravesando ninguna pendiente.Utilice la guia de la pendiente proporcionada enla parte posteriora de este manual.• Escoja la velocidad mas lenta antes de arran-

car hacia arriba o hacia abajo en cerros.• Evite parar o cambiar la velocidad en cerros.• Si es absolutamente necesario el parar, empuje

el pedal del embrague/freno rapidamente ala posici6n de freno y enganche el freno deestacionamiento.

• Mueva la palanca de control de movimiento ala posici6n de neutro.

IMPORTANTE: La palanca de control de movi-miento no vuelve a la posici6n de neutro cuandoel pedal del embrague/freno esta presionado.• Para volver a empezar con el movimiento,

suelte lentamente, el freno de estacionamientoy el pedal del embrague/freno.

• Lentamente, mueva la palanca de control demovimiento al ajuste mas lento.

• Gire siempre lentamente.

PARA TRANSPORTARCuando empuje o arrastre su tractor aseg0rese dedesenganchar la transmisi6n poniendo el controlde la rueda libre en la posici6n de marcha de rue-da libre. El control de marcha de rueda libre estasituado en la barra de tracci6n trasera del tractor.1. Levante la palanca de levantamiento del ac-

cesorio a su posici6n m&s alta.2. Tire del mando de la rueda libre hacia afuera

y hacia abajo hasta que se coloque en la guiay sueltalo de manera que se mantenga en laposici6n de desenganchada.

• No empuje o arrastre el tractor a m&s de dos(2) MPH.

• Para volver a accionar la transmisi6n, inviertaeste procedimiento.

TRANSMISION ENGANCHADA

TRANSMISION DESENGANCHADA

AVISO: Para proteger el Capota contra el dahocuando transporte su tractor en un cami6n o re-molcador, aseg0rese que el Capota este cerradoy asegurado al tractor. Use los medios apropia-dos para amarrar el Capota al tractor (cuerdas,cordeles, etc.).

REMOLQUE DE CARRETILLAS O OTROSACCESORIOSRemolque solamente los accesorios recomenda-dos y especificados por el fabricante del tractor.Use sentido comOn cuado este remolcando. Lascargas pesadas, cuando este yendo sobre unapendiente, son peligrosas, las Ilantas puedenperder su tracci6n con el terreno y pueden oca-sionar que pierda el control de su tractor.

ANTES DE HACER ARRANCAR EL MO=TORREVISE EL NIVEL DE ACEITE DEL MOTOREl motor en su tractor ha sido enviado desde laf&brica Ileno con aceite de calidad para verano.1. Revise el aceite del motor con el tractor en

terreno nivelado.2. Remueva la tapa/varilla indicadora de nivel de

relleno del aceite y limpielas, vuelva a insertarla varilla indicadora de nivel y atornille la tapahasta que quede apretada, espere pot unoscuantos segundos, remuevala y lea el nivelde! aceite. Si es necesario, agregue aceitehasta que se haya alcanzado la marca Ileno(FULL) en la varilla indicadora de nivel. No IoIlene demasiado.

• Para la operaci6n en clima frio, debe cambiarel aceite para poder arrancar m&s f&cilmente(Vea "Tabla de Viscosidad Del Aceite" en lasecci6n de Mantenimento de este manual).

• Para cambiar el aceite del motor, vea la secci6nde Mantenimento en este manuaI.AGREGUEGASOLINA

• Llene el estanque de combustible. Llenehasta la parte inferior del cuello de relleno delestanque de gasolina. No Io Ilene demasiado.Use gasolina regular, sin plomo, nueva y lim-pia con el minimo de 87 octanos. (El uso degasolina con plomo aumentar& los dep6sitosde 6xido de plomo y carbono y se reducir& laduraci6n de la v&lvula). No mezcle el aceitecon la gasolina. Para asegurar que la gasolinautilizada sea fresca compre estanques loscuales puedan ser utilizados durante los prim-eros 30 dias.

_,PRECAUCION: Limpie el aceite o el combus-tible derramado. No almacene, derrame o usegasolina cerca de una llama expuesta.

IMPORTANTE: Cuando se opere en tempera-turas por debajo de 32°F (0°C) use gasolina deinvierno limpia y nueva para auedar a asegurarun buen arranque en clima frio.

PREOAUClON: Combustibles mezclados conalcohol (conocidos como gasohol, o el uso deetanol o metanol) pueden atraer la humedad,la que conduce a la separaci6n y formaci6n de&cidos durante el almacenamiento. La gasolinaacidica puede daflar el sistema del combustiblede un motor durante el almacenamiento. Paraevitar los problemas con el motor, se debe vaciarel sistema de combustible antes de guardarlo potun periodo de 30 dias o m&s. Vacie el estanquede combustible, haga arrancar el motor y h&galofuncionar hasta que las lineas del combustible y elcarburador queden vacios. La pr6xima temporadause combustible nuevo. Vea las Instruccionespara el Almacenamiento para m&s informaci6n.Nunca use productos de limpieza para el motor opara el carburador en el estanque del combustiblepues se pueden producir daflos permanentes.

PARA HACER ARRANCAR EL MOTORAI hacer arrancar el motor por la primera vez osi se ha acabado el combustible del motor, senecesitar& tiempo para e! arranque extra paramover el combustible desde el estanque hastael motor.1. AsegOrese que el control de rueda libre este

en la posici6n enganchada.2. Sientase en el sill6n en la posici6n de oper-

aci6n, suelte el pedal del embrague/freno yponga el freno de estacionamiento.

3. Ponga la palanca de control de movimientoen la posici6n de neutro.

4. Mueva el embrague del accesorio a laposici6n desenganchado disengaged.

5. Mueva la palanca de control de la aceleraci6na la posici6n de estrangulaci6n.

AVlSO: Antes de arrancar, lea las instruccionessiguientes para el arranque en clima frio y tem-plado.6. Inserte la Ilave en la ignici6n y gire la Ilave

en el sentido que giran las manillas del reloja la posici6n de arranque start, y suelte laIlave tan pronto como arranque el motor. Nohaga funcionar el arrancador continuamentepot m&s de quince segundos por minuto. Siel motor no arranca despues de varios inten-tarlos, mueva el control de la aceleraci6n ala posici6n de r&pido, espere unos cuantosminutos y trate de nuevo. Si el motor sigue sinfuncionar, mueva el control de la aceleraci6na la posici6n de estrangulaci6n y intente denuevo.

ARRANQUE CON TIEMPO TEMPLADO(50°F/10°C Y MAS)7. Cuando arranque el motor, mueva el control

de la aceleraci6n a la posici6n de r&pido.• Los accesorios y el embrague ahora pueden

ser utilizados. Si el motor no acepta esta carga,vuelva a arrancar el motor para permitirle quese caliente por un minuto utilizando el estran-gulador como describido arriba.

ARRANQUE CON TIEMPO FRiO (50°F/10°CY MENOS)7. AI hacer arrancar el motor, mantenga el

control de la aceleraci6n a la posici6n de es-trangulaci6n hasta que el motor se caliente yempieze funcionar mal. Una vez que empiezea funcionar mal, mueva inmediatamente elcontrol de la aceleraci6n a la posici6n rapida.El calentamiento del motor puede tomar apartir de varios segundos a varios minutos(cuanto m&s fria es la temperatura, m&s largoes el calentamiento).

CALENTAMIENTO PARA LA TRANSMISIONAUTOMATICA

Antes de conducir la unidad en un tiempo frio, latransmisi6n debe ser calentada como las instruc-ciones siguientes:1. AsegOrese que el tractor este situado en una

superficie nivelada.2. Ponga la palanca de control en neutro. Alivie

el freno de estacionamiento y deje que elembrague/freno vuelva a la posici6n de op-eraci6n.

3. Permita que la transmisi6n se caliente duranteun minuto. Esto puede set echo durante eltiempo de calentamiento del motor.

• Los accesorios pueden set utilizados durante elperiodo del recalentamiento del motor despuesque la transmisi6n halla sido calentada.

PURGAR LA TRANSMISION

Para asegurar la operaci6n y ejecuci6n adecuada,es recomendado que la transmisi6n sea purgadaantes de operar el tractor para la primera vez.Este proceso remover& cualquier aire adentrode la transmisi6n que se halla formado duranteel transporte de su tractor.IMPORTANTE: Si pot acaso su transmisi6n debeser removida para servicio o reemplazo, debeset purgada despues de la reinstalaci6n y antesde operar el tractor.1. Para mayor seguridad, ubique el tractor en

una superficie nivelada, despejada de cual-quiet objeto y abierta, con el motor apagadoy el freno de mano puesto.

2. Desenganche la transmisi6n poniendo elcontrol de rueda libre en la posici6n de desen-ganchado (Vea "PARA EL TRANSPORTE" enesta secci6n de este manual).

3. Sentado en el asiento del tractor, empieceel motor. Despues que este corriendo el mo-tor, mueva el control de estrangulaci6n a laposici6n de lento. Con la palanca de ruedalibre en la posici6n de neutral, desenganchelentamente el embrague/el freno del pedal.

_,PRECAUCI6N: En el transcurso del paso 4,puede que de pronto se pongan en movimientolas ruedas.

4. Mueva la palanca del control de movimientoa la posici6n total de adelante y sujetela du-rante cinco (5) segundos. Mueva la palancahacia la posici6n total de marcha atr&s ysujetela durante cinco (5) segundos. Repitaeste proceso tres (3) veces.

5. Mueva la palanca del control de movimientoa la posici6n de neutro. Apague el motor yembrague el freno de estacionamiento.

6. Enganche la transmisi6n poniendo el controlde rueda libre en la posici6n de conducir (Vea"PARA TRANSPORTAR" en esta secci6n delmanual).

7. Sentado en el asiento del tractor, empiece elmotor. Despues que este corriendo el motor,mueva el control de estrangulaci6n media(1/2) velocidad. Con la palanca de controlde movimiento a la posici6n de neutro, len-tamente desenganche el embrague/el frenodel pedal.

8. Mueva lentamente la palanca de control demovimiento hacia adelante, despues que eltractor se mueva aproximadamente cinco(5) pies, mueva lentamente con la palancade control de movimiento a la posici6ncontraria. Despues que el tractor se muevaaproximadamente unos cinco (5) pies vuelvaa poner la palanca de control de movimientoen la posici6n de neutro. Repita este proced-imiento la palanca de control de movimientotres (3) veces.

Su transmisi6n esta ahora purgado y dispuestopara la operaci6n normal.

CONSEJOS PARA SEGAR• No se pueden usar las cadenas para las Ilantas

cuando la caja de la segadora est& adjunta altractor.

• La segadora debe estar nivelada en formaadecuada para obtener el mejor rendimientoal segar. Vea "PARA NIVELAR LA CAJA DELA SEGADORA" en la secci6n de Servicio yAjustes de este manual.

• El lado izquierdo de la segadora se debe usarpara recorte.

• Maneje de modo que los recortes se descarguenen el &rea que ya ha sido cortada. Mantengael &rea de corte a la derecha del tractor. Estoproducir& una distribuci6n m&s pareja de losrecortes y un corte m&s uniforme.

• AI segar las &rea grandes, empiece girando ala derecha de modo que los recortes se des-carguen, alej&ndose de los arbustos, cercos,entradas de autom6viles, etc. Despues de unao dos vueltas, siegue en la direcci6n opuesta,haciendo virajes a la izquierda, hasta quetermine.

• Si el cesped esta demasiado alto, se debesegar dos veces para reducir la carga y losposibles peligros de incendio debido a losrecortes secos. Haga el primer corte relativa-mente alto; el segundo a la altura deseada.

• No siegue el cesped cuando esta mojado. Elcesped mojado taponara la segadora y dejaramontones indeseables. Permita que se sequeel cesped antes de segarlo.

• Siempre opere el motor con una aceleraci6ncompleta cuando siegue para asegurarsede conseguir un mejor rendimiento y unadescarga apropiada de los materiales. Su tractor cuenta con un sistema de carga de labateria que es suficiente para el uso normal. Sinembargo, si se carga la bateria peri6dicamente,con un cargador de autom6viles, se prolongarasu duraci6n.• Mantenga la bateria y los terminales limpios.• Mantenga los pernos de la bateria apretados.• Mantenga los agujeros de ventilaci6n peque-

ENFRIAMIENTO DEL TRANSEJELas aletas de enfriamiento y el ventilador de latransmisi6n tienen que mantenerse limpios paraasegurar el enfriamiento adecuado.No trate de limpiar el ventilador o la transmisi6ncuando el motor este funcionando o mientras latransmisi6n este caliente.• Inspeccione el ventilador de enfriamiento para

NIVEL DEL FLUIDO DE LA BOMBA DELTRANSEJEEl transeje ha sido sellado en la f&brica y elmantenimiento del fluido no es necesario para lavida del transeje. CORREAS VRevise las correas V para verificar si existedeterioro y desgaste despues de 100 horas deoperaci6n y c&mbielas si es necesario. Las cor-reas no son ajustables. Cambie las correas siempiezan a deslizarse debido al desgaste.

MOTORLUBRICACION

8. Use un medidor en la tapa/varilla indicadoradel nivel para relleno del aceite para revisar elnivel. Para la lectura exacta, inserte la varillaindicadora de nivel en el tubo y empOjelahacia abajo firmemente en su sitio antes dequitarla. Mantenga el aceite hasta, pero no en-cima, de la marca de Ileno "FULL' de la varillaindicadora de nivel. Empuje la varilla haciaabajo firmemente en el tubo cuando termine.

FILTRO DE ACEITE DEL MOTORCambie el filtro de aceite del motor cada tempo-rada ovez por medic que cambie el aceite, si eltractor se usa m&s de 100 horas en un aflo.

FILTRO DEL AIRESu motor puede sufrir averias y funcionar demanera incorrecta con un filtro del aire sucio.Dele servicio al filtro de aire m&s a menudo si seusa en condiciones polvorosas. Vea la manualde la motor.

PARA DESMONTAR LA CORTADORADE CESPED1. Suelte el embrague poniendolo en la posici6n

"DISENGAGED" ("DESACTIVADO").2. Baje la palanca elevadora de montaje a la

posici6n de mas abajo.3. Ruede la correa de polea del motor (M) y

fijadors de la correa (G).4. Retire el resorte de sujeci6n (K), deslice la

abrazadera (L) hasta quitarla, y saque apresi6n la guia de la caja (P) hasta que sesalga del soporte.

5. Retire el resorte del cable del embrague (Q)del brazo del engranaje (R).

6. Desconecte la pieza de uni6n anterior (E) dela cortadora - retire el resorte de contenci6ny la arandela.

7. Por uno de los lados de la cortadora,desconecte el brazo de suspensi6n de lacortadora (A) del chasis y la pieza de uni6nposterior (C) de la barra posterior de la cor-tadora (D) - retire los resortes de contenci6ny las arandelas.

CLIIDADO: Una vez que se desconecten laspiezas de uni6n posteriores, la palanca elevadorafuncionara a resorte. Sujete con fuerza la palancaelevadora al cambiarla de posici6n.8. Deslice la cortadora por debajo del lado

Realice el mismo procedimiento en el otrolado del tractor.FIJE LAS PIEZAS DE PROPULSION POS-TERIORES (C) - Levante la parte posteriorde la cortadora, ubique la ranura de la piezade uni6n (D) por encima de la clavija que hayen la barra posterior de la cortadora y fijelacon una arandela y un resorte de contenci6n.

9. Retire el resorte de sujeci6n (K), deslice laabrazadera (L) hasta quitarla, y saque apresi6n la guia de la caja (P) hasta que sesalga del soporte.

10. Instale la correa pasandola por encima de lapolea del motor (M) y fijadors de la correa(G).

6. FIJE LA PIEZA DE UNION ANTERIOR (E)- Trabaje por el lado izquierdo del tractor.Introduzca el extremo de la barra de la piezade uni6n pot el orificio anterior de la barra desuspensi6n anterior del tractor (F).

7. Introduzca el otto extremo de la pieza deuni6n (E) en el orificio que se encuentra enla barra anterior de la cortadora (H), y fijelopot medio de una arandela y un resorte decontenci6n (J).

8. Retire el resorte del cable del embrague (Q)del brazo del engranaje (R).

IMPORTANTE: Verifique que la correa encajebien en todas las ranuras de las poleas de lacortadora.11. Suba la palanca elevadora a la posici6n de

m_.s arriba.12. Si es necesario, ajuste las rueditas del calibre

antes de poner en funcionamiento la corta-dora, como se ilustra en el capitulo de Manejode este manual.

REGULACION DE LA PRECISION DE LADOA LADO1. Con todos los neum&ticos correctamente

inflados, estacione el tractor a nivel del sueloo en la entrada a la casa.

Al_ CUIDADO: Las cuchillas son afiladas. Pro-tejase las manos con guantes o envuelva lascuchillas con tela gruesa, o bien haga ambascosas.

2. Suba la SEGADORA a la posici6n m&s alta.3. A ambos lados de la cortadora, ubique la

cuchilla hacia un lado y mida la distancia (A)que hay entre el borde inferior de la cuchillay el suelo. Dicha distancia debe ser la mismaa ambos lados.

4. En caso que sea necesario realizar un ajuste,lea los paso 2 de las instrucciones de Regu-laci6n Visual que aparecen m&s arriba.

5. Vuelva a verificar las medidas y ajuste nueva-mente, en caso necesario, hasta que amboslados queden iguales.

AJUSTE DE DELANTE A ATR,_S

IMPORTANTE: El piso debe quedar bien nive-lado de lado a lado.Para que el cesped le quede perfectamentecortado, las cuchillas de la cortadora debenajustarse de tal manera que la punta anteriorquede 1/8" a 1/2" m&s abajo que la punta pos-terior cuando la cortadora se encuentre en suposici6n m&s alta.

_LCUIDADO: Las cuchillas son afiladas. Prote-jase las manos con guantes o envuelva las cuchil-las con tela gruesa, o bien haga ambas cosas.• Suba la SEGADORA a la posici6n m&s alta.• Ubique cualquiera de las hojas de la cuchilla

de tal manera que la punta quede apuntandodirectamente hacia adelante. Mida la distancia(B) que hay entre la punta anterior y el suelo yentre la punta posterior y el suelo.

• Si la punta anterior de la hoja de la cuchillano est& 1/8" a 1/2" m&s abajo que la puntaposterior, dirijase a la parte de adelante deltractor.

• Con una Ilave inglesa de 11/16" o de calibreregulable, afloje la tuerca A, d&ndole variasvueltas para despejar la tuerca de ajuste B.

• Con una Ilave inglesa de 3/4" o de calibreregulable, haga girar la tuerca de ajuste de lapieza de uni6n anterior (B) en sentido horario(ajustar) para elevar la parte de adelante dela cortadora, o bien en sentido antihorario(aflojar) para bajarla.

atr&s del tractor. Con mucho cuidado, retirela correa de la polea de entrada de la trans-misi6n, moviendola hacia arriba y pas&ndolapor encima de las paletas del ventilador (D).

4. Retire la correa de la polea del motor movie-ndola hacia abajo (E).

5. Deslice la correa hacia la parte de atr&s deltractor, retirela de la placa de direcci6n (F) yquitela del tractor.

MONTAJE DE LA CORREA

1. Instale la correa nueva de la parte de atra.sa la parte de adelante del tractor, pas&ndolapor encima de la placa de direcci6n (F) y delva.stago del pedal del embrague / freno (G).

2. Jale la correa hacia la parte de adelante deltractor y p&selo por sobre la polea del motor (E).

3. Jale la correa hacia la parte de atr&s deltractor. Con mucho cuidado, mueva la correahacia abajo y pa.sela alrededor del ventiladorde transmisi6n y por encima de la polea deentrada (D). Cerci6rese de que la correaeste calzada dentro del guardacorrea.

4. Coloque la correa sobre el pi_6n central (C).5. Pase la correa a traves del pi_6n estacionario

(A) y del pi_6n del embrague (B).6. AsegQrese de que la correa calce en todas

las ranuras de las poleas y dentro de todaslas guias y guardacorreas..

5. Instale la SEGADORA (Ver"PARA MONTARLA SEGADOR,_' en este capitulo del manual).

CONTROLAR Y AJUSTAR EL FRENO

Si el tractor exige m&s de cinco (5) pies parapararse a una velocidad m&s alta en el cambiom&s alto en una superficie nivelada de hormig6nseco o pavimentada, entonces se debe controlary ajustar el freno.CONTROL DEL FRENO

1. Aparcar el tractor en una superficie niveladade hormig6n seco o pavimentada, presionarel pedal del freno hasta el fondo y accionarel freno de estacionamiento.

2. Desembragar la transmisi6n colocando elmando de la rueda libre en la posici6n "trans-misi6n desembragada". Tirar el mando de larueda libre fuera y dentro la ranura y soltarasi se coloca en la posici6n desembragada.

Las ruedas traseras tiene que bloquearse y pa-tinar cuando se intenta empujar hacia adelanteel tractor manualmente. Sustituir las zapatas delfreno o contactar con Sears o con un otto centrode servicio cualificado.PARA AJUSTAR EL ALINEAMIENTO DELVOLANTE DE DIRECCI6NSi las barras transversales del volante de direc-ci6n no estan horizontales (izquierda a derecha),cuando las ruedas esten derecho hacia adelante,remueva el volante de direcci6n y vuelvalo amontar con las barras transversales horizontales.

CONVERGENCiA/INCLINACIONDE LASRUEDAS DELANTERASLa convergencia y la inclinaci6n de las ruedasdelanteras no son ajustables en su tractor. Si hasufrido daflo como para afectar la convergencia ola inclinaci6n de las ruedas delanteras, p6ngase encontacto con un otto centro de servicio cualificado.

la parte anterior de la rueda posterior derecha;2. Poner en marcha el motor y mover la palanca

de control del movimiento del cambio mec&ni-co hasta Ilevarla en una posici6n en la que nose pueda mover ni adelante ni atr&s;

3. Mantener la palanca de control del movi-miento del cambio mec&nico en esta posici6ny apagar el motor;

4. Manteniendo la palanca en la posici6n arribaindicada, aflojar el perno de regulaci6n;

5. Mover la palanca de control del movimientoen posici6n neutro (cierre met&lico);

6. Enroscar bien el perno de regulaci6n.AVlSO: Desplazar el piano de trabajo de la sega-dora hasta la posici6n m&s baja para aumentar eljuego al fin de acceder al perno de regulaci6n.Si el tractor sigue desliz&ndose adelante y atr&s,despues de esta regulaci6n y con la palanca enposici6n neutro, efectuar las operaciones indica-das de seguida.1. El control de la estrangulaci6n ha sido preajustadoen la fabrica y no deberia necesitar ajustes.PARA AJUSTAR EL CARBURADOR

El carburador ha sido preajustado en la f_.bricay no deberia necesitar ajustes. Sin embargo, sepueden necesitar ajustes de menor importanciapara compensar por las diferencias en el combus-tible, temperatura, altura o carga. Si el carburadornecesita ajustes, vea de manual de motor.

almacenamiento, la bateria puede necesitarvolver a cargarse.

• Para ayudar a evitar la corrosi6n y las fugas depotencia durante largos periodos de almace-namiento, se deben desconectar los cables dela bateria y se debe limpiar cuidadosamente(vea "PARA LIMPIAR LA BATERiA Y LOSTERMINALES" en la secci6n de Mantenimien-tode este manual).

• Despues de limpiarla, deje los cablesdesconectados y p6ngalos en donde nopuedan entrar en contacto con los terminalesde la bateria.

• Si se remueve la bateria del tractor para elalmacenamiento, no la guarde directamentesobre concreto o sobre superficies hOmedas.

MOTORSiSTEMA DE COMBUSTIBLEIMPORTANTE: Es important evitar que se for-man depositos de goma en partes fundamen-tales del sistema de combus-tible tales como elcarburador, el filtro del combustible, la mangueradel combustibles mezclados con alcohol(conocido como gasohol o que tienen etanol ometanol) pueden atraer humedad, Io que con-duce a la separaci6n y a la formaci6n de acudosdurante elalmacenamiento. La gasolina acidicapuede daflar el sistema de combustible de unmotor durante el periodo de almacenamiento.
