Wie- ner and Sergeant Huston, who were in the city yesterday afternoon and this morning are working with Dis- trict Forest Ranger L. F. Johnson and are anxious to get all the re- cruits they can. Both examining officers left this afternoon for various points in the part of the state and North Dakota, but will return Monday noon and can be found Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon at the Markham. Any one desiring information or to join any branch of the service should see Mr. Johnson or Postmaster Rit- chie. Any high school graduate can join the quartermaster corps and will be sent to a cooking and baking school where they can learn the trade. Men who enlist in this corps will be chos- en for the commissioned offices in their companies. Inside and outside wiremen, tel- egraphers, mechanics and electri- cians are all needed tor the signal service and men of any age may Join. Lumberjacks are wanted badly for the forestry. HUSBAND AND WIFE, ANOTHER MAN AND OFFICER FRANK FROST When Newton Irish and James Byers were haled before Judge Gib- bons' court yesterday afternoon, charged with creating a disturbance on the street by engaging in a fistic encounter, it would see that just an ordinary "heated argument" case had come up, but the facts of the case proved to be very different. From the testimony of the defend- ants, Acting City Attorney Graham M. Torrance soon gathered that the testimony of eye witnesses would be necessary and a recess was granted. At 2 o'clock the court reconvened and John Goodman, Elmer Marin and G. P. Irish were called to the stand. Their stories showed that Byers had interfered with the domestic affairs of Mr. Irish for the past several weeks. Wednesday night Mr. Irish met his wife in the park and sent her home. Shortly after he met Mr. Byers in the park. A quarrel en- sued but as Byers led Irish to .be- lieve that he carried a gun they did not come to blows. Later, Irish met Byers in front of Crothers' barber shop and after a few words blows were exchanged. Patrolman Frost soon appeared on the scene and made tlif* &rr6st Byers was fined $25 or thirty days In the county jail, and Irish was given $10 or fifteen days and his sen- tence was suspended. Byers paid his fine and was released. BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL * • • • a * * * * * * * * * * * - * * "~ TOM SMART * * DRAT AND TRANSFER + * Safe and Piano Moving -ft * Res. Le Clerq has fallen in love with a woman (Gladys Brock well) whose husband (Willard Louis) has seized her and carried her away to a lonely life in the forests. Overcome by his brutality, she leaves his house and learns that her husband has been left as dead by a treacherous Indian guide. She marries Le Clerq. But Devil Cabot is not dead. From the testimony of the defendants, Acting City Attorney Graham M.

A quarrel ensued but a s Byers led Irish to .believe that he carried a gun they did not come to blows. Later, Irish met Byers in front of Crothers' barber shop and after a few words blows were exchanged. Patrolman Frost soon appeared on the scene and made tlif* &rr6st

into play the marvelous strength and power of his frace in the newest of William Fox's* pictures of the great Northwest, "The End of the Trai l ." In this photoplay, Farnum acts Jules Le Clerq, a French Canadian, factor in a Hudson Bay trading post.

Le Clerq has fallen in love with a woman (Gladys Brock well) whose husband (Willard Louis) has seized her and carried her away to a lonely life in t he forests. Overcome by his brutality, she leaves his house and learns tha t her husband has been left as dead by a treacherous Indian guide. She marries Le Clerq.

But Devil Cabot is not dead. "The End of the Trai l" will be shown at the Grand Saturday—afternoon and evening.
