Every 2 years we host Interrelate to deliver the programs “Where Did I Come From?” and “Preparing for Puberty”. The first program is suggested for students in Years 3 and 4 and the second one for students in Years 5 and 6. While these age groups are suggested by Interrelate, they aren’t “set in stone” and parents will need to make a decision about which program their child is ready for. Another factor that parents may consider is that students who are currently in Year 2 may be ready to attend and would be more than welcome to come along. The next time we offer the course the current Year 2 students will be in Year 4. It would be great if families booked in so that we know we have enough people attending to cover the minimum costs.

NAPLAN results for students in Years 3 and 5 have arrived at school and will be sent home with students today. We will post a duplicate copy home to any parents who are not the main carers, as long as we have their current address.

Thank you to all parents who have made appointments for parent teacher interviews. This is a really valuable time for both parents and teachers as we work together to achieve the very best for all our children.

We have received notification that our Sporting Schools application for Term 4 has been successful. Term 4’s sport will be netball. As part of the league program this term, all students will receive a free league ball. Ideally we would have liked to have sent these balls home on Monday, which was the final session, but they needed to have names written on them and also needed to be inflated. As you can imagine inflating 214 league balls is a time consuming process – the balls will be sent home ASAP.

What a team! Our “Have Sum Fun On Line” teams have had another very successful competition. Year 5 were placed 2nd overall in the nationwide competition. They actually scored the same score as the winning team, so the difference must have been their time. Well done Nick, Alex, Gizelle and Layne. Year 6 achieved 3rd place (out of 83 teams) and were only 1 point behind the first 2 teams. Well done to Isaac, Kade, Abigail and Lachlan. Year 3 and 4 were having their first go at the competition – Year 4 came 4th and Year 3 came 12th. Well done to Cordelia, Hayden, Kaysha, Meila, Isla, Wyett, Tyler and Keeley.

You Can Do It - HOW TO BE HAPPY Happiness is important for students’ health and overall success. Kindergarten and Stage 1 are learning that it is not just about making themselves happy. It is also about spreading happiness to others to create a positive community. People can do lots of things to help themselves feel happy. This is especially important to know when they are feeling sad. Stage 2 students are learning to be grateful, or thankful, for what they have and for what other people have done for them. They are being encouraged to pay attention to the positive things in their life – not just focusing attention on bad feelings and things they don’t have.

In Stage 3, students have been learning to recognise the habits of happy people. It is no accident that some people are happier than others. Happy people have well-developed happiness habits. The more we practise the following happiness habits, the happier we will be:

1. Think positively 2. Have confidence in yourself 3. Stay connected 4. Use your imagination 5. Utilise your self-discipline 6. Work hard for academic achievement

7. Show empathy 8. Demonstrate kindness 9. Be grateful for what you have 10. Aim to maintain a healthy lifestyle

(work, rest and play)

We have been asked by parents to run this wonderful educational Interrelate Program once again. Last week all children from Years 3 to 6 received a form to participate. We only run this program every two years. It has a wonderful reputation of meeting the needs of children in this age group who have many questions on the topic. This is not compulsory but we recommend this program. More forms are available from the office.
