MKR, the most watched re- ality show in 2013, became more of a soap opera than a cooking program following personality clashes and an unrivalled competitiveness among the contestants. Evans says he’s doesn’t how this series will unfold in its edited version because he has yet to see the final cut. But he assures the mind ga- mes are apparent from the opening round and the series has been well cast with each team in contention showing they are desperate for the $250,000 first prize. ‘‘For me it’s all about the food,’’ Evans says. ‘‘The competitive nature hasn’t diminished. ‘‘That’s for sure. ‘‘They do make good friends and some do rub each other up the wrong way and all of that is cap- tured throughout the series.’’ MKR was brilliantly cast in 2013 with contestants Sophia Pou and Ashlee Pham letting loose from episode one. Evans says no matter what the contestants say, he and fellow judge Manu Feildel ig- nore the table trash talk. ‘‘I’m pretty impartial to it,’’ he says. ‘‘My role is to judge the food and that’s it. I’m sure they are going to put the boot in if they slip up, because there is $250,000 on the line.’’ Evans says a food truck seg- ment adds a new dimension to the series. This time the teams will cater for the public on occas- ions, which will give them a perspective of what it would be like to run an eatery based on their cooking skills. ‘‘The teams are basically opening their own restaurant and taking orders and their fate is in the customers’ hands so to speak,’’ Evans says. ‘‘That for me was the highlight of the series.’’ Since the 2013 series ended, Evans’ life has been bubbling along at an enormous rate. He’s now a qualified health coach after graduating from the Institute for Integrated Nutrition in New York. Evans will also make a second series of Moveable Feast for US TV network PBS and a Healthy Cooking show for another network. He plans to release several books. He says it will be a relief to sit down and watch the show for the first time. ‘‘We judge purely on what we put in our mouths.’’ My Kitchen Rules returns on Monday, January 27 on the Seven Network TV puts INXS back on top INXS are on target to return to the ARIA top 10 for the first time since singer Mi- chael Hutchence’s death as Channel 7 saturates its ten- nis coverage with promos for the Never Tear Us Apart mini-series. Poehler looks up, Fox down PASADENA: The future is looking bright at NBC for Golden Globe winner Amy Poehler, but not so much for Michael J Fox. NBC entertainment chief executive Robert Greenblatt said Poehler’s Parks & Re- creation will be back for a seventh season. The television comedy series is about an Indiana town’s public officials and their efforts to make their home a better place. Greenblatt couldn’t hide his disappointment with Fox’s comedy, although he made no official comment about its prospects. Bundchen and bub’s bike ride LOS ANGELES: A repre- sentative for Gisele Bund- chen has defended the supermodel after she came under fire for driving a quad bike while carrying her baby daughter. The Brazilian beauty was snapped travelling on the all-terrain vehicle (ATV) on a beach in Costa Rica earlier this week. The image sparked safety concerns because Bundchen had her one-year-old daugh- ter Vivian strapped to her chest while using one hand to control the bike. Neither mother nor daughter wore a protective helmet.
