I’d like to congratulate all of the students who tried their best at the Cambooya and District
Sports last week. We had some really terrific results and I was proud of how our students
looked and acted while visi ng other schools. Big congratula ons go out to those
students chosen to represent our district; Lane, Cameron, Ben, Jack D, Sterling and Billy.
Best of luck at Inner Downs!
The kilometre club is underway each morning and parents are most welcome to join in or
cheer from the sidelines out front. We need all the encouragement we can get! The cross
country will be held on September the 7th so everyone should
be really fit by then.
On Monday a,er parade we will have a presenta on from NED.
Never give up. Encourage others. Do your best.
Parent le0ers accompany this newsle0er and yoyos will be
available for sale in the office for the next couple of weeks.

With Thanks All the families that helped out at the recent Athletics Carnival. We had bakers, servers, setting up…. Feedback—yummy!
We are now finalising our swimming lessons for Term 4. All students from Prep to Year 6 will have a 45 minute lesson at
the Concordia Aquatic Centre. The lessons will commence on Friday, 6th October and go for a sev-en week period ending on Friday, 17th November. We are booked in to have our InterHouse Swim-ming Carnival on Friday, 24th November. The cost per student will be $63/student. Travelling costs will again be very heavily subsidised by the P&C. More information and permission forms will come home closer to the date. All students are expected to attend.
We realise this is a financial burden for families. We would love it if all students were able to attend excursions as they are part of our curriculum. We therefore offer all families the option to pay a little in advance on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Each family is able to come in to the office and pay any amounts they can afford (any day except Tuesday), which will be credited against their student’s accounts. Another option that more and more families are taking up is the bpay option. Some families have set up a deduction for a small amount from their bank account. With this op-tion, each family can choose what date (eg. the date after their pay is due), the amount etc.
If you would like more information or would like help with this, please contact the office.

School Opinion Survey 2017 The annual School Opinion Survey will be conducted 31 July to 25 August 2017. All families, school staff and a random sample of students will be invited to participate. We encourage you to take this opportuni-ty to have your say about what this school does well, and how this school can improve. Access details for the Parent/Caregiver Survey will be sent home on Monday. Parents/caregivers are welcome to complete their survey online at the school if they don’t have access to a computer at home. School computers will be available before school.
We are now finalising our camp for this year. All students in Years 3-6 will
be travelling to the Bunya Mountains (near Dalby), leaving approx. 8am on Monday, 11th September and returning approx. 3pm on Wednesday, 13th September. Thanks to our P&C who have again heavily subsidised our camp.
Cost : approx. $125 / student
Permission notes and final times will be sent home in the weeks leading up to each excursion. We realise this is a financial burden for families. We would love it if all students were able to attend excursions as they are part of our curriculum. We therefore offer all families the option to pay a little in advance on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Each family is able to come in to the office and pay any amounts they can afford (any day except Tuesday), which will be credited against their student’s ac-counts. Another option that more and more families are taking up is the bpay option. Some families have set up a deduction for a small amount from their bank account. With this option, each family can choose what date (eg. the date after their pay is due), the amount etc. If you would like more information or would like help with this, please contact the office.
Camp 2017
This year the students in Prep, One and Two will have a sleep-over at school on Tuesday the 12th of Septem-ber. They will have two days of fun activities while the older kids are on camp. The cost will be approxi-mately $25/student. Further details and an exact cost will be finalised soon.
Sleepover 2017
Year 4 ventured their way in on the PCYC bus to Groom Park to participate in day 1 of their 2 day cycle safety course. Day 1 was all about learning how to signal while using the road as a cyclist and what functions should be present on a bike to make it by law, road safe. Before the stu-dents even started, CJ the in-structor gave their helmets a thorough safety check only to find that a lot of helmets were starting to get too small for the children and that this can become very dangerous as the helmet no longer protects the back of the skull. Once the helmets were
adjusted the kids were off and riding with CJ being very im-pressed with the level of skill to which he is looking forward to seeing the students next Wednesday, where they get to tackle the whole park track.

CHRISTMAS
CONCERT
Thank you
To all our amazing bakers, donators,
volunteers and customers for the
Interschool Bake Sale.
We made in excess of $850* for the day
*awaiting final figures to come in
We need a
bar manager / team leader
for our Christmas Concert
can you help?
There will be a team available to help
out on the night – but we need a
‘team leader’ before we further
explore the option of running a bar
on the night.
Please let Serena/Kym know if this is you.
l
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
For us to get the ‘reasonable hall hire rate’ it
needs to be a ‘free community event’ which
means we will no longer have our ‘Gold Coin –
Entry Donation at the door”
BYO alcohol will not be permitted – but we
are currently exploring the legalities and
logistics of running a bar on the evening. (stay
tuned) .
We won’t ask you to ‘bring along a dessert’
(hooray I hear you say!)
We are finalising our meal deals and prices
(which will include dinner and dessert) – these
meals will need to be pre-ordered and
purchased by 17th November 2017. (so start
speaking to grandparents, aunts, uncles,
friends, siblings and get them to lock in the
date and be prepared to pre-order and pay
(stay tuned for more information)
The event will start earlier approximately
2pm (last year doors opened at 3.30pm)
Students will get to do ‘rehersals in the new
venue so they become familiar with the stage,
lighing and sound.
With a bigger stage, the teachers have so
many more options for the students
performances – stay tuned!
✓It’s Air Conditioned
✓Full Integrated Sound System (so if you’re
sitting up the back you’re going to hear)
✓Seating capacity for 500
✓Very reasonable hire cost
✓Large elevated stage (so you’ll see the
performances easier)
✓Acoustic walls and ceiling – meaning it will
absorb sound – so the sound of kids running around is dulled!
✓We can start the concert earlier (because it’s
air-conditioned and we have access to set up from 8am on Sunday) Which means we can finish the formalities earlier.
✓We can cater for ourselves (many other
function centres wouldn’t allow us to do this)
✓Secure courtyard for kids to ‘break out into’.
✓Distance – it’s 22km / 21min drive from the
school (keep in mind you’d be driving 21min to get to Picnic Point) (did we mention – it’s airconditioned, its gorgeous and so worth the extra drive)
✓Bar – it’s got a pretty decent bar that we can
run – we are currently exploring licencing options and logistics. Serena Gooding would love to hear from you if you’d like to become the ‘BAR MANAGER for this event’
LAST YEAR YOU SAID….
“WE NEED AIR-CONDITIONING AND A BIGGER VENUE FOR OUR
CHRISTMAS CONCERT”
WE LISTENED…. WE’RE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE
(after much research)
