JSC Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill is one of the biggest enterprises in Europe on cardboard and paper production. The main raw material, which is used for cardboard and paper production, is waste paper. Secondary raw materials processing capacity makes up more than 850 tons per day.The share of the Mill makes about 30% in the general output of pulp and paper production in Ukraine.More than 500 Ukrainian companies, number of CIS and non-CIS countries buy products of Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill annually.Production of leading Ukrainian brands and transnational companies is packed into corrugated cardboard tare of JSC Kyiv CPM. Box (packing) cardboard, produced by the Mill, is applied for manufacturing of consumer packing for various goods. High quality of tissue paper was appreciated by number of sanitary-and-hygienic products manufacturers, and "Dyvo" brand paper products became popular, along with well-known “Obukhov 65” brand toilet paper.

Production history of Kyiv CPM began Feb. 4, 1982, when the first cardboard was received; the first manufacturing complex with capacity of 100 thousand tones of cardboard per year was put in operation March 30th. In parallel with cardboard production increase, two tissue-making machines for base-paper manufacturing have been constructed. The first tissue-making machine started July 1987. At the same time equipment for waste base-paper converting to toilet paper rolls "Obukhov 65" put into operation. It was the first product of such nature in Soviet Union.In 1998, for the first time in Ukraine, manufacturing of 100% cellulose sanitary-and-hygienic (tissue) paper with density from 15 to 40 gsm mastered. In 1997, duplicating machine Celli put into operation and production of two-and three-ply paper started for manufacturing of multilayer napkins, handkerchiefs and towels. In 2002, the first turn of production and processing of corrugated cardboard started, and in 2007, the second line turn came into operation on corrugated factory. Total capacity of corrugated board and packaging production reached 300 million square meters per year.In September 2008, equipment for converting recycled and pulp tissue of company Gambini put into operation. This is the first line of such level in Ukraine for manufacturing and packaging of toilet paper and kitchen towel rolls with capacity up to 210 rolls/min.In 2009, in order to improve consumer properties of sheet cardboard, a sheeter machine from company Pasaban installed at the plant. The transition to new equipment allowed us obtaining sheet cardboard of European quality.

Corrugated plant - the youngest unit of Kyiv CPM put into operation in first quarter of 2002. Two corrugators from German company BHS with total capacity of 300 million square meters per year produce corrugated board. The process of starch glue preparing is carried out on equipment from Western companies Serco Holland and Bvg. 9 processing lines from companies Bobst, Martin, Emba allow to strike a wide range of corrugated goods. Due to FFg 924 line from company Martin, it is possible to produce containers with flexo-printing up to 5 colors on corrugated board with any type of flute in-line, including double-wall corrugated board. Packaging, more than two meters long, with four-color printing application, is produced on Martin DRO 1628 line. Tree packing lines from German firm Signode provide finished products palletizing.

Corrugated Board GoodsCorrugated board:• single-wall corrugated board of “E”, “B”, “C” profile, with brown, cloudy, white surface.• double-wall corrugated board of “EB”, “EC”, “BC” profile, with brown, cloudy, white surface.Corrugated packaging:• 4-flaps-American type boxes, including cut elements (vents, slits for hand-carrying, chamfered flaps, etc.) • Boxes with perforation, transforming into show-boxes.• Products made of corrugated cardboard of complex configuration: trays and etc. • Accessories to corrugated packaging - grids, shims, inserts, shells and etc.

Kyiv CPM is a leader in cardboard production in Ukraine. Cardboard is produced by two cardboard making machines of Escher Wyss company with cut width of 4,2 m and capacity of 100 thousand tons per year each. Presence of two cardboard making machines makes it possible to produce a wide range of packaging and containerboard weighing from 112 to 510 g/sq.m. The main raw material for production of cardboard is recycled paper, for production of cardboard with some indicators different kinds of cellulose are used.

Cardboard for Corrugated Board ProductionRecycled containerboard is used as a flat layer in corrugated board production. Containerboard is produced of following brands:• KT - 100% waste paper • KT-25- with clouded top layer, made of bleached pulp• KT-50- with top layer, made of bleached pulp• К-1 and К-2 - gray board with addition of unbleached pulp.

Fluting is assigned for middle (wavy) layer manufacturing in corrugated board production. The paper is made of 100% waste paper of following brands:• B-0 • B-1.

Cardboard for Consumer PackagingRecycled chromo-ersatz coated and uncoated is assigned for manufacturing of consumer packaging with color-printing for industrial goods, tobacco goods, foodstuffs as well as manufacturing of goods for children (toys, books, bricks). The upper layer is made of bleached pulp, the others from waste paper. Depending on printing method and quality indexes the following brands of cardboard are produced:• DivoPack (N) - cardboard uncoated;• DivoLux (МО) - cardboard coated. Chipboard coated and uncoated is produced from 100 % waste paper. It is recommended to use for manufacturing of consumer packaging for industrial goods and dehydrated food with moisture up to 15%.Chipboard brands:• DivoEco (NМ) - cardboard uncoated; • DivoPrint (ММ) - cardboard coated.

Finished cardboard is delivered in reels, rolls and sheets. For sheet cardboard production with improved consumer characteristics, Pasaban line (Spain) was commissioned in 2009. It allowed reaching:- ideal cut of cardboard in longitudinal and cross direction; - flatness of the sheet, which is provided by the de-curling system;- absolutely flat laying cardboard along the whole height of stack; - absence of gloss spots and stripes on a smooth surface of coated cardboards.Sheeter machine is additionally equipped with the modern equipment for optical recognition of defects on cardboard surface, the usage of which guarantees 100 per cent possible culling inclusions and spots inside rolls at the stage of cardboard roll cutting on the sheets.

Paper production set into operation in 1987, produces tissue for sanitary purposes, as well as toilet paper, towels and napkins. Kyiv CPM is Ukraine's largest producer of toilet paper. There are two tissue-making machines of voith company (austria) with total capacity of 60 thousand tons of tissue per year at the factory floor. Tissue Plant includes tissue making department and tissue converting department. Tissue making department plant produces recycled and pulp tissue that can be colored with different colors. a slitting machine of Celli (Italy) allows duplicating paper in two, three layers. The tissue-converting department carries out cutting of tissue paper into toilet paper rolls “Obukhov 65”. Cutting and packing of the rolls is carried out on 5 automated lines of Sumitomo (Japan), with total capacity of 260 million rolls of wasted raw material per year. Equipment for sheet and roll towels production is installed at the same department. In September 2008 a new converting line for recycled and cellulose tissue production from company gambini set into operation with productivity of 210 rolls of goods per minute. Toilet paper is produced on a core from pulp and recycled tissue, packed in polyethylene film. In a separate section of the department a large assortment of napkins from single and multi-layered tissue paper is made.

Increasing of environmental safety of production – is a strategic task in the plant activity. We love and appreciate our beautiful region, therefore, as no one else, carefully treat nature. "reasonably use irreplaceable" - is the motto of Kyiv CPM. Environmental Mission of the plant - is preservation of natural resources, use of recycled materials in production cycle. To ensure and maintain the ecological safety of production at the plant a target program of environmental activities was developed and implemented, which includes:- measures for ambient air protection; - water conservation measures;- dealing with waste. Equipment for water treatment additionally commissioned at the plant, thereby, fresh water consumption reduced, technologies to reduce a number of fibers in wastewater were introduced. Works on modernization of the equipment on lines for recycled stock preparation on the cardboard making machine held, and the pressure equipment of Klein company for dewatering of internal waste was installed at paper manufacturing shop floor. This allowed reducing a load on suspended solids in septic tanks of the local mechanic and chemical treatment and biological treatment facilities to 30% from the current level.
