CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE’S SERVICEService Plan Summary

2006-2007

We were successful in a 3 way pitch for the re brand of the NCC identity campaign and our design, “My County Council”, has since been applied to all the NCC literature. It was also recommended by the LGA and has since been taken on by a large number of other councils.

Listed below are a sample of the design projects that we created for Northamptonshire County Council.

‘Reduce’ Project

Brief:

To develop a name and logo for the partnership between Northamptonshire County Council and Milton Keynes Council in the development of new ways of disposing of waste. Members of both councils, along with industry specialists, were involved at all stages of the development.

Response:

The creation of the ‘Reduce- no time to waste’ logo was designed to express and emphasise both the ‘green nature’ of the disposal methods being proposed, as well the urgent need to find a solution for reducing both council’s waste.

The timescale on this project was tight. In order to ensure that they launched it to the business community at the Industry day, we had to manage the process effectively so that all the partners were in agreement at all stages. We produced numerous pieces of literature including leaflets, press packs, exhibition boards and a wide range of promotional items.

We received positive feedback from both the team and the government advisor on both the design and our management of the process.

Rightracks - Casualty Reduction Partnership Campaign

Brief:

Northamptonshire County Council, a Beacon Authority for road safety excellence, had been invited to undertake a project to reduce rural road casualties by the Department for Transport.

We won a 3 way pitch to produce the project’s name and identity with the purpose of increasing the public’s awareness of rural road safety.

Response:

Creation of the ‘Rightracks’ logo and identity, and design of the full project report for submission to the NCC cabinet. Further designs of road signs for the roads leading into the project zone as well as pop up and pull up exhibition stands, van livery and literature for the local residents road shows. We also created a quarterly newsletter for the team and various online adverts.

This project required a high level of partnership working as the partnership was made up of members of the NCC, Police, Health Authority, Magistrates Court and the Highways Agency all of whom had to sign off the project.

Fostering and Adoption Rebrand

Brief:

To develop a new identity for the NCC’s Fostering & Adoption team in order to raise public awareness.

Response:The creation of a cohesive ‘family’ of literature was designed to be clearly identified as ‘Fostering & Adoption’ whilst still giving each area of the four teams a distinctive individual look. The identity was then applied to a wide range of mediums including leaflets, posters, ad shells, bus back & press and online adverts.

Buzz Card

Brief:

To design an identity for a new initiative-one card for a use on any of the counties 3 bus services.

To recommend a range of campaign elements that would educate the people of Northampton the purpose of Buzz Card and that would encourage the uptake and use of the card.

Response:

The development of a strong, bright & vibrant main identity that would work throughout a range of mediums - including posters, in-bus advertising, tickets & adverts.

The campaign has been highly successful and we continued to work with the team to further expand the scheme.

This campaign involved working alongside and coordinating with various third party partners. We worked directly with the Transport office and all three bus company representatives, whilst keeping the NCC informed at all stages.

Northamptonshire County Council received an award for this campaign.

My Life

Brief:

We were approached by the Health and Adult Social Services at NCC to develop a new ‘sub-brand’ for adult social care.

Response:We developed the ‘My Life’ visual identity as a colorful & understandable visual that would be clear for the audience to understand what the ‘self directed support’ scheme was about. We designed a wide range of communications as part of the campaign, including literature, adverts, DVD covers, banners etc.

We utilised the ‘My’ concept further to explain the steps of the service to the public, through other leaflets reefing to such things as ‘My Money’ and ‘My Plan.

We received positive feedback from many people regarding this rebrand, indicating that it had made the service a lot clearer and simpler for the customers to understand and that the literature was much more identifiable as a result. Street Doctor

Brief:

The Highways department had set up a hotline for the public to report any damage or faults that they found in their area so that the Council would be aware of them, and then fix them, faster. They asked us to develop a campaign that would raise public awareness of the hotline and encourage them to use it.

Response:We created an illustrated character called ‘Street Doctor’ to become the recognisable ‘face’ of the awareness campaign who then appeared on a range of communications, including leaflets, adverts & a radio campaign. The development of a character to front the campaign was an effective way to raise awareness of the scheme to all members of the public, as it could also be included in many other NCC communications to consistently remind people of the service, without having to keep up a continuous specific advertising campaign.

The initial campaign was very well received by the public, and as a result the project is still ongoing and very successful.

Northamptonshire Libraries

Brief:

The NCC needed to reposition the county’s libraries, as they were installing new systems that would enable the public to be able to access to a multitude of council services directly from the libraries. They needed something that would raise awareness of this new positioning.

Response:

‘LibraryPlus’ was created to reflect the new additional services that the libraries could offer. We developed a LibraryPlus logo and a new identity that would mean they were instantly recognisable to the public and make them aware that the libraries offering had changed.

We worked with every county library to update their building’s signage to incorporate the new identity. In some instances we also had to redesign library signage to reflect partnership working that occurred with specific libraries.

Alongside the signage, we also redesigned all the library service literature to reflect the new identity and highlight the new services available.
