PHYSICS
1. A thin prism of angle of prism 6o gives a deviation of 3o. What is the refractive index of
the material of the prism?
2. The angle of minimum deviation for prism of angle 60o is 30o. Calculate the speed of light
in the material of the prism.
3. A ray of light is incident at an angle of 60o on one side of a 30o prism. The emergent ray
from the prism makes an angle of 30 with the incident ray. Show that the emergent ray is
normal to the surface from which it emerges. Also calculate the RI of the material of the
prism.
4. A glass prism whose RI is 1.53 and refracting angle is 60o is held in a liquid of RI 1.33.
Calculate the angle of minimum deviation.
5. The focal length of the objective and eye piece of an astronomical telescope 25cm and
2.5cm respectively. The telescope is focused on an object 1.5m from objective. The final
image is formed at 25cm from eye of the observer. Find the length of the telescope.
6. Given light of wavelength 5100Ao from a narrow slit is incident on a double slit. Is the
overall separation of 10 fringes on a screen 200cm away is 2cm, find the slit separation.
7. In YDSE, while using a source of light of wavelength 5000Ao, the fringe width obtained is
0.6cm. If the distance between the slit and screen is reduced to half, what should be the
wavelength of the light to get fringes 0.003m wide.

8. Given the RI of the medium is √3. What is the angle of refraction if the unpolarised light
is incident on it at the polarizing angle of the medium?
9. A light of wavelength 600nm is incident normally on a slit of width 3mm. Calculate the
linear width of the central maxima on a screen kept 3m away from the slit.
10. Light reflected from the surface of a glass slab of refractive index 1.57 is linearly
polarized. Calculate the angle of reflection on the glass surface.
