    Ireland's state-run "bad bank"will auction works of art by thelikes of Andy Warhol and AlexKatz after it put global auctionhouse Christi es in charge of a 14-painting collection valued at up$ 2 .8 m i l l i o n ( 1 .7 8 m i l l i o npounds).

    Created to purge Irish banks

of their risky real estate loans, theNational Asset Management Agency(NAMA) is selling helicopters andprivate jets as well as skyscrapersand five-star hotels to try and clawback the 31 billion euros (27 billionpounds) it has shelled out for theloans.

'day again fellow Bali people, tourists and expats alikeand welcome to the latest and hottest newspaper in theGworld. Twas a big weekend just gone with the A.F.L

footy, watching the eagles knock out Carlton to push them forward tothis Saturdays game against Geelong. Now, if I was a punting man Iwould probably have to throw a tonne at Geelong to get up but, seeingthe lads form Perth have come from the bottom of the ladder to becontending for the big game makes me think they might just get there. As is usual with Preliminary finals, its sudden death, so win or take the

end of year footy trip gentlemen. The same goes for the Hawks and the Mighty Pies on Friday night, if youdon't win your out. Apparently the Hawks have booked tickets to Hawaii for their team trip and will be leavingdirectly after the game Friday night along with their loyal supporter base from Darwin, cya.. Time willtell.

With regards to the footy it's come to that time of the year when the Kuta Town Houses , tally upthe tipping for the season and reveal the individual scores for the four mystery rounds and announce thewinner for season. For the smart people that jump on board each year, the end of year party is the highlightof the weekend with the BBQ getting cranked up after the Saturday game in the A.F.L room. The rules aresimple if you entered the tipping competition you can come and enjoy the BBQ and heap of cold ones withyour partner and generally have a great afternoon in good company, on the house. If you want to enjoy theBBQ and you're not in the tipping, you can buy your beers and pay for the food should you wish as everyoneis welcome at the home of A.F.L in Bali. This year the rules are being adhered to and no proxy's are allowed,eg you and your partner are welcome to drink and eat for free if you are in the tipping, however you cannotnominate a friend or proxy because your partner can't make it, as that wouldn't be fair to all the entrantswouldn't it? So fellow tipsters get down on Saturday and enjoy.

Ok folks once again the editor is banging on the door and hitting me to cut the ramble short, so with

that in mind I might wonder out and stand over the beach for a while and down a few little green ones withfriends while watching a sunset. It really is a great place to live isn't it ?? I hope most of you stay safe, happy, healthy and always remember, The stupid neither forgive nor forget, the nave forgive and forget, the wiseforgive but do not forget.

    Enjoy your week,Karn the pies,ALIASJ..

Tax Evasion on Two-WheelsBali Tax Officials Planning to Hunt DownDoor-to-Door Unregistered Big Bikes.

The Bali provincial tax revenue office (DinasPendapatan Bali) records that there are more than 340large, imported motorcycles that have never paidroad taxes.

According to Beritabali.com, the average roadtaxes for a large, imported motorcycle can reach Rp. 5million (US$555) each year.

The head of the tax revenue office, KetutSudira, said that the large, imported motorcycles havebeen smuggled into Bali where they are illegallybrought and sold. As a result, the bikes have no validtitles of ownership or registration certificates, makingtax administration problematic.

They have no paperwork so they can notpresent at the vehicle registration office (SAMSAT). Wehave tried to coordinate with the police and customs. The owners cannot complete the paperwork withreceipts and vehicles titles (BPKB), so clearly they can

pay the vehicle registration fees, explainedSudira.

Sudira said there are 700 owners of largemotorcycles in Bali who routinely pay their vehicletaxes.

Separately, NusaBali says tax officials arepreparing to stage a door-to-door campaign on

residences where large motorcycles and otherunregistered vehicles are known to be stored.

Vehicle registration officials say the newlyintroduced on-line registration process is helpingofficials identify errant vehicle owners who are avoidingtheir tax obligations.

Officials now estimate there are some 22,169vehicles in Bali with outstanding road tax bills, withsome unpaid road tax bills going back as long as 10years.

    E i g h t m e m b e r s o f atraditional Amish sect werebehind bars on Tuesdayafter refusing to payf ines for fai lure tod i sp l ay o range- redsafety triangles on theirhorse-drawn buggies.

The eight were beingheld in the Graves CountyJail, serving sentencesranging between three and10 days for failing to pay thefines on religious grounds.

    G r a v e s D i s t r i c tJudge Deborah Hawkinsordered the men jailedMonday in Mayfield, about200 miles from Louisville inw e s t e r n K e n t u c k y . T h edefendants contend that payingthe fines would amount tocomplying with a law that violates

their religious restrictions againstwearing or displaying brightcolors or relying upon man-madesymbols for their safety.

Graves County JailerRandy Haley said Tuesday thatthe men brought Bibles with themwhen they reported to jail lateMonday night and were givendark-colored jumpsuits andsandals to wear instead of the

    Haley said.The Kentucky Court of

Dozens of Amish peopleand supporters were on hand asHawkins handed down thesen tences , wh ich va r ieddepending on the amount ofunpaid fines and court costs. Aninth defendant was ordered to

Sharp, a lawyer withthe American Civil Liberties

Aries Mar 20 - Apr 19Now that your ruler Mars has moved from accenting familyand domestic duties, you not only get a break, it's time forsome fun. In fact now that it's in the sign that's all aboutwho and what you most enjoy in life, Leo, your biggestproblem will be deciding what or who comes first.

    22 Sept - 28 Sept 2011 (251 )

Taurus Apr 20 - May 20An exciting new concept is always worth considering, even if it doesn't fit into existing plans. Besides, with theactual circumstances you're dealing with changing everyday, what makes no sense now could soon be exactly

what's needed. Knowing that, explore them. What youlearn about them and those changes will prove hugelyvaluable.

Gemini May 21 - Jun 20In a way it could be said what you're currently dealing withbegan in early August, when your ruler Mercury wentretrograde in the portion of your chart that accents familyand domestic matters. Now, finally, dilemmas havereached the point at which you're able to deal with those, and with unexpected ease.

Cancer Jun 21 - Jul 22There are times when no amount of creative thinking ortactful manoeuvring will overcome tense issues, and thisis one of them. Once you acknowledge this fact, instead ofstruggling to find a universally acceptable approach tothese matters, you'll focus on accepting that there simplyis no solution.

Leo Jul 23 - Aug 22Having energetic Mars in Leo for the coming eight weekswill change your temperament. Initially you'll feel both the

benefits and liabilities of its presence. While, on one hand, you've a new confidence about worrying dilemmas, on theother, you'll find you must contend with the tendency toimpatience that Mars brings with it.

VirgoAug 23 - Sep 22You try your best, but have struggled to keep up withrecent tricky situations. But with the dynamic Marsaccenting exactly such complex issues, as it will for eightweeks, you've no choice but to deal with each. While thisis hugely challenging, you'll be amazed how much youaccomplish.

Libra Sep 23 - Oct 22As a Libra you learn a huge amount by talking thingsthrough with others. While sometimes you benefit fromthe ideas you hear, the simple process of organising yourthoughts so you can discuss matters can do wonders toclear your mind. Do this now. It will clarify your thinking inseveral complex situations.

Scorpio Oct 23 - Nov 21The last thing you want to hear is that during this ratherchaotic week, even simple plans are unlikely to last long. But once you're aware of that, instead of struggling toimpose perfect order, you'll adopt an uncharacteristically

easygoing approach. Thus you'll have no problemreorganising things, possibly several times over.

SagittariusNov 22 - Dec 21Somebody has complained about you ignoring theiranxieties about recent unsettling changes. While there'slittle point in dwelling on these, it would be wise to givethem a little reassurance. Having done that, gently butfirmly sidestep their anxieties, or you'll spend hoursanalysing them when you could be getting somethingaccomplished.

Capricorn Dec 22 - Jan 19There's a difference between being discreet, which incertain situations is essential, and keeping crucial facts toyourself. While ordinarily you might sidestep suchmatters, at the moment they could be pivotal. Theproblem is, you won't realise why they're so importantuntil you actually begin to discuss them with others.

Aquarius Jan 20 - Feb 18The time has come to make a fresh start. But this can't berushed. Reflect on certain matters and equally on others'

questions. They could seem challenges. They're not, butyou won't registetr that until you're actually talking thingsover. And by then you'll be so enjoying exchanges thatyou'll have forgotten those tensions.

Pisces Feb 19 - Mar 19Being sensitive to the ups and down of others' emotions, you're careful not to confront certain sensitive individualswith more than they can handle. In one or two situations, however, the individual in question is far more capable ofdealing with issues than you imagine. Discuss thesefrankly, and right away.

LAZY LOVINALovina is a quiet coastal town on theNorth Bali coastline west of the city ofSingaraja.Understand

Lovina is a relatively new namecoined in the 1950s by a local BulelengRegency official with a good eye for futuretourism-based development. It essentiallyconsists of seven traditional villages, whichall slightly merge into one on a ten kilometrestretch of the main road which hugs thenorth coast to the west of Singaraja:Temukus, Kalibukbuk, Anturan, Pemaron,Tukad Mungga, Banyualit and Kaliasem.Kalibukuk is the main hub of this area and isoften thought of "Lovina town centre".

The whole stretch of coast here isfringed by quite narrow black sand beaches, which are accessed by a multitude of smalllanes which run perpendicular to the east-west coast road. The beaches are generallysafe for swimming, and the waters of Bali'snorth coast, in direct contrast to the crashingsurf of the south, are relatively calm.Diving, snorkelling and dolphin watchingare the main activities, but perhaps aboveall else, this is an area in which to relax and

take in a very slow, traditional pace of life. Itcan get a little crowded in July and August, but outside that peak season, this is a quietpart of the island.Get around

This is a good area for walking asthe roads are relatively quiet and thebeaches long and easily passable.

Renting a bicycle is popular andagain, easy to find. Many hotels have theirown. You should be aware though that awayfrom the coast road, there are a lot of steephills. The easiest way to visit the surroundings ofLovina is by renting a motorbike. There aremany roadside outlets and expect to paybetween Rp 50,000 and 90,000 per day.The roads are quite good here and nothinglike as crowded as in south Bali.Local bemos ply the north coast road

between Singaraja and West Bali, stoppingat all points on the Lovina stretch. You willneed some patience and they can be verycrowded indeed. As there is only one mainroad it is though hard to get lost.To See

Lovina's black sand beaches arequite lovely and lend themselves well toexploration on foot at a leisurely pace. Thesea is very calm here and is safe forswimming. The feeling on the beaches isone of laid-back tranquility with small, colourfully decorated traditional outriggerscalled perahu dotted along the shoreline. These are a reminder that you are in a

traditional fishing community. There are a few hawkers, but nothing likeas many as on the southern beaches, and this is as good a place as any in Balito explore quiet beaches at your ownpace. At the highest of tides the beachescan get a little difficult to traverse inplaces, so it is best to time your walks fora falling tide. The small road that runs down to thebeach-front from the main east-westcoast route at Kalibukuk is called JalanBina Ria. At the beach end of this road isa rather wonderful dolphin statue. Apartfrom being a notable piece of kitsch, thisis a reminder of the reason for the initialdrive beind tourist development atLovina (dolphins, obviously). Miniwooden and stone replicas of this statueare for sale widely in the area.Brahma Vihara Arama

Brahma V iha ra A rama,Dencarik. Bali's largest Buddhistmonastery located near the village ofDencarik. The monastery is absolutelycharming and commands lovely views.Whilst obviously Buddhist with its orange

roof, numerous gold Buddhas andstupas recalling those at Borobudur, thecarvings and ornamentation are veryBalinese. The combination works welland if it were in a location easier to reach, this attraction would recieve far morevisitors than it does. A visit herecombines well with Banjar Hot Springs.Donation.. edit

Dawn over the lowest spoton earth illuminated a DeadSea very much alive onSaturday, as more than1,000 floating nude Israelisposed for a mass shoot byUS photographer SpencerTunick.

The project, Tunick's firstin the Middle East, is part of a bidto boost Israel's campaign to havethe sa l t -saturated featurerecognised as one of the world'sseven natural wonders ina global online vote inNovember.

Experts warn thatthe Dead Sea could dryout by 2050 unlessurgent steps are taken tohalt its demise.

    For Tunick, aJewish American who

has arranged nakedhuman bodies overprominent landscapesand landmarks rangingfrom a Swiss glacier tothe Sydney OperaH o u s e , a n u d einstallation is an indicatorof a host country's openness.

"In some places the work isa little bit more controversial, andthen in other places the works areaccepted as a litmus test for howfree a country is, or how open acountry is, and how full of rights acountry is," he told a pre-shoot

    press briefing.O r t h o d o x J e w i s h

polit icians and rabbis hadprotested over what they termedthe "Sodom and Gomorrah"nature of Tunick's work, andthreatened to take legal actionagainst the plan to strip in public.

The head of the localcouncil in whose area the early-morning photo session took placehad threatened to call police to

disperse the shoot, which he said was offensive tolocal residents.

But organisers kept thelocation secret until the lastmoment to secure it, and therewere no hitches to the two-hoursession at the Mineral Beachcomplex, not far from where

tradition says the biblical citiesof Sodom and Gomorrah, irreparably overrun by sin, weredestroyed by God along withtheir inhabitants. Tunick, who

grew up in the largely Hassidiccommunity of South Fallsburg,NY, said in the briefing that hecould understand how religiouspeople could find his workoffensive.

"That's why I've decidedto do the work on Saturday (theJewish Sabbath), so no-onewould be walking by and see anaked person half a mile awayand be offended," he said.

The Dead Sea's surfacelevel is plunging by about ametre (39 inches) each year, and the shoreline has recededby more than a kilometre (0.6mile) in places, according tosome estimates.

    For Ari Frucht, who

Mass nude photo shoot in Dead Seainitiated the project and

has toiled over its preparationsfor the past four years, a work bySpencer Tunick could help raiseawareness of the sea 'scondition and galvanise Israel'sgovernment into action.

He believes there isanother aspect, too, to the

    Jewish state hosting such ashoot.

"The world needs toknow that Israelis are notreligious extremists," he said

    ahead of the event.B e s i d e s

    involvement in publicd i s r o b i n g , t h einstallation providedChai Amir, a 35-year-old resident of centralcity Bnei Brack, anopportun i ty to dosomething for a causehe believed in.

"I'm glad I wasable to take part in anevent aimed at savingthe Dead Sea," he saidas the shoot wrapped."You can really seehow the waterline

recedes every year."A jubilant Tunick praised

the "brave" participants of hisinstallation, some of whom flewto Israel especially for it.

"This could happennowhere else in the MiddleEast," he said as the event

wound down, and the men andwomen headed to the showersand buses.

"If you love freedom inNew York, freedom in London, freedom in Italy... there'sfreedom in Israel, and I thinkthis is very important forpeople to understand.

The President of the society, who also

happened to be a Greens senator, pointed tofirst drawing and said:

"This is a woman. We can see these people held

    women in high esteem.

You can also tell they were intelligent, as

the next symbol is a donkey, so they were

    smart

enough to have animals help them till the

    soil.

The next drawing is a shovel, which means they

    had tools to help them."

Even further proof of their high intelligence

is the fish which means that if a famine hit

    the

earth and food didn't grow, they seek food

    from the sea.

The last symbol appears to be the Star of

David which means they were evidently Hebrews.

The audience applauded enthusiastically. Then a little old Jewish man stood up in the

back of the room and said,

"Idiots...Hebrew is read from right to left...

    Grandmother has world's longest nailsIf Chris Walton ever startedb i t i n g h e r n a i l s , s h e ' dprobably wear her teeth out:the Las Vegas resident hasbeen declared to be thewoman with the longest nailsin the world.

The professional singerwith a combined total of nearly 6mof nails celebrated in New York afterbeing named in the newly released2012 edition of the Guinness Bookof Records.

Arriving by black stretchlimousine, Walton, a flamboyant 45-year-old grandmother with a hugebottle-blonde hairdo, posed forphotographs on the steps of theornate main New York PublicLibrary.

The claws on the famousstone lions flanking the library stepshad nothing on her bizarreappendages.

    Varnished in gold glitter,

Walton's nails stretch and curvefrom her hands in a tangleresembling something betweenspaghetti and one of those writhingHollywood aliens.

The nail on her ring finger isthe length of a human arm, her leftpinky is the length of a fire hydrant, and it would take only 484 versionsof her left thumb nails to stretch allthe way up to the top of the EmpireState Building.

    S t u a r t C l a x t o n , aspokesman for the Guinness Bookof Records, called her a "uniquebeauty".

Walton, who sings inVegas and goes by the stagename The Dutchess, has beengrowing her nails for 18 years. Shesays she doesn't drink milk or stickto any other nail-friendly diet.

    "Candy and a lot of

    patience," she said was her

    secret.Despite the obvious

impracticality of having a cat'scradle of keratin dangling from herfinger tips, Walton insists that mostof life goes on.

She does have a problemgetting anything out of a pocket, but she uses her knuckles to texton a mobile phone and addszippers or buttons to sleeves sothat she can put on jackets.

"I don't swim, but it's notthe nails that stop me swimming. It's a hair thing," she said.

Walton is not married - she

says she is "in self-love"- but she assures that the nailskeep men around her interested.

Now that she has theGuinness record, she's ready tothink about dusting off theclippers. The only hitch: she'llhave to pare the nails back a littlebit at a time.

"If I cut them all off I knowI will not be able to do anything,"she said. "I'm so used to havingnails I'd be running into walls anddoors."

Claxton said the nailsrecord, and other eye-poppingachievements trumpeted in theGuinness Book of Records, hadnothing in common with the kindof cruelty depicted in the movieThe Elephant Man, where adeformed man is paraded as ahuman curiosity.

"The fact that theDutchess has the longest

fingernails is a fact. She's aperfectly normal, rationalwoman," Claxton said.

    " W e ' r e a c t u a l l ycelebrating these people."

English tourist LynneHannah, who was walking pastthe library in central Manhattan, was not enticed to give up herown fake nails after glimpsingthe Dutchess.

"She can't be doingmuch housework. How does sheeven dr ive the car? It 'ssomething you'd see in a freakshow," Hannah, 46, said.
