On 19th January 2017, Pujya Swami Tejomayanandaji “rose above” the post of Global head of Chinmaya Mission and handed over the reigns of administration to Pujya Swami Swaroopanandaji. Our beloved Guruji has
passed on the „ Guru Seva Padak‟ (baton)‟ to Pujya Swami Swaroopanandaji.
On this unforgettable day for the Chinmaya Family, the audience at the
Tapovan Hall of Sandeepany Sadhanalaya at Mumbai, comprised of Acharyas, devotees and well wishers. Guruji‟s and Swami Swaroopanandaji‟s words about
the Grace and Guidance of Gurudev overflowed with humility and moved everyone in the audience.
From the entire Chinmaya Mission family and our Chinmaya Vidyalaya, we offer to Gurudev, Guruji and Swamiji, an outpouring of the same infinite amount of love, that they have always offered to us.

4th Jan – 10th Jan 2017 :
FA-IV exams for classes I to VIII were held from 4th Jan 2017 to 10th Jan 2017. Preboard examinations for class XII also started on the 4th of Jan 2017.
Later on , Parent Teacher Meeting for the assessment of each child‟s performance was held on 21st Jan , 2017 for Classes I to V; and it was held on the 28th of Jan 2016, for Classes VI to VIII.
Classes IX and X had FA-IV examinations from 19th Dec to 6th Jan 2017.
The first prefinals for Class X was held from 21st January till the 28th of January 2017. Corresponding Parent Teacher Meeting for Class X was held on 4th of February 2017.
6th Jan 2017: Participation in Infinity- Inter school Maths League.
The 3rd edition of „Infinity‟- the Inter School Maths League Championship was held on 6th January 2017 at St. Andrews School, Bowenpally,
Secunderabad. Four students from our Vidyalaya, Chi. Arul Menon of Class VIII, Chi. Naman of Class VIII, Chi. Manognya of Class VIII and Chi. Anant of Class VII, were selected to represent our Vidyalaya. They were accompanied by
Smt. Varsha , our Maths faculty. Primarily aimed at judging middle school mathematics knowledge, this championship was to provide a platform for maths enthusiasts and enjoy all maths related activities.
8th Jan 2017: Statistics Olympiad
C.R.Rao AIMSCS (Advanced Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science) conducted the 9th Statistics Olympiad on Sunday, 8th Jan
2017 from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. A total of 17 Vidyalaya students took part in the Olympiad; fifteen of them from Class XI at the Senior level and two students from Class X at the Junior level.
11th Jan 2017 and 24th Jan 2017: Yoga Quiz Round 1
The CBSE conducted a Yoga quiz on yoga, holistic health and Swachh Bharat for school children on 11th Jan 2017.
Round 1 comprised of a written test.16 students from classes VI to VIII (junior level) and 13 students from classes IX to XI ( senior level) participated in
this test. The two best students from each category were selected for the next round. Chi. I. V. Srika of Class VII and Chi. Tejas of Class VIII were the students who qualified from the juniors category for Round 2. Chi. A. Pranav of
Class IX and Chi. P. Meghna of Class XI- Commerce qualified for Round 2 from the seniors category. The above four students appeared for the round 2 which
was an online competition held on 24th of January 2017.
8th Jan – 20th Jan 2017: CCMB- Young innovators Programme 2017
Chi. Tanmay Parab of Class X got selected to participate in the YIP (Young Innovators Programme) 2017 held at The Centre for Cellular and

Molecular Biology (CCMB) from the 8th Jan to 20th Jan 2017. Only 25 students from schools across Hyderabad got selected through a written test to spend two weeks at the centre visiting their well equipped laboratories , interacting with
scientists and watching videos on the work being conducted by CCMB. Indeed a very informative experience!
11th Jan 2017: Sankranti Sambaralu:
Sankranti festival, signifying the change in the Raasi of the Sun into the
Makara Raasi, is one of the most important festival celebrated in our country; and more specifically in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Sankranti was celebrated in our Vidyalaya in a very festive manner with
the traditional Pongal making in a new earthern pot. Bogi Mantalu were lit up, and along with these were burnt our ignorance, jealousy, hatred and worries. Flower petals and akshtalu were showered on the little children by all the
elders. The entire ground was decorated with beautiful Rangolis and little girls danced around them. Later boys flew kites in the ground. The entire school wore a festive look and it was very heartening to look at all the children in
traditional attire.

Children and staff had Sankranti holidays from 12th Jan to 16th Jan 2017. Vidyalaya reopened on the 17th of Jan 2017.
18th Jan 2017: Painting/ Drawing Competitions organized by CBSE as part of Republic Day Celebrations.
The Ministry of Human Resourse Development had announced the celebration of Republic day in CBSE schools by conducting a drawing/
painting competition. Category 1 were students of Classes VI to VIII. Topics given to them were “Swachh Bharat” / “School of my Dreams”. Category 2 were
students of Classes IX and X. Topics given to them were “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” / “Digital India”.

17th Jan onwards- Khel Milan
Chinmaya Vidyalaya Begumpet students participated in the Chinmaya
Khel Milan, the All India Chinmaya Kho Kho tournament 2016-17 organized by the CCMT Education Cell. This was held at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kasaragod, Kerala from the 20th Jan 2017- 22nd Jan 2017.
Under-16 boys and under-14 girls took part in this tournament. Twelve teams from different Chinmaya Vidyalayas across the country participated this
Khel-Milan.

After coming back to Hyderabad, all these victorious players received
their medals and trophies from Pujya Swami Brahmanandaji, during the Republic Day Celebrations.

19th Jan 2017: Visit of Swami Brahmanandaji:
Pujya Swami Brahmanadaji, our senior Acharya; Regional head of
Karnataka state visited our Hyderabad centre. Geeta Gyana Yagna on the 16th chapter was held at Kukatpally, from the 19th to 22nd Jan 2017.On 23rd January, Pujya Swamiji visited Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Samshabad. From 24th
Jan to 26th January, Geeta Gyana Yagna was held at Haryana Bhavan, Secunderabad on the 17th Chapter.

It has been a privilege for us to have Pujya Swami Brahmanandaji visiting us. His presence has brought about a lot of positive vibrations in our
surroundings. For many of us, having grown up hearing the Bhajans and chantings of Pujya Swami Brahmanandaji, his consent to be the chief guest for the Republic day celebrations in our Vidyalaya, has brought about immense
and blissful happiness. With due Pranams to this Guru Parampara and to Pujya Swami Brahmanandaji, we hope to see him again in Hyderabad with his
ever wonderous reverberating bhajans.
20th Jan 2017: Visit of GHMC Commissioner on account of National Voters Day
On the 20th of Jan 2017, students of class XI, class X and ten each
students from each of the sections of Class IX were addressed by the GHMC Commissioner - Sri. B. , Janardhana Reddy . He was accompanied by the Zonal Commissioner of GHMC - Smt. Hari Chandana, Additional commissioner
of elections- GHMC, Sri. RamaKrishna Rao and the deputy commissioner of GHMC, Sri. Sudhamsham.

Sri. Janardhan Reddy garu spoke to the students on “Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation- SVEEP”. He explained about some salient points of the voting process and shared some interesting statistics
about the voter turnout in different states.
Our students as future citizens of the world, in alignment with the CVP principle of Universal outlook took upon this opportunity to learn new things about their voting franchise in the future to become responsible citizens of our
country and of the world.
22nd Jan 2017: UGC-NET Exam
Our Vidyalaya was one of the centers for the UGC-NET Recruitment Exam conducted on the 22nd of January 2017. A total of 540 candidates
enrolled for this examination in our Vidyalaya. Our faculty conducted and also invigilated the proceedings of this esteemed examination.
24th Jan 2017: CBSE Heritage India Quiz:
Three of our Vidyalaya students, Chi. S. Tejaswini of Class IX, Chi.
Keshav Modani of Class XI –Commerce and Chi. Sanyam Jain of Class XI- Commerce represented our Vidyalaya in the city Round of Heritage Quiz
conducted by the CBSE on 24th Jan 2017 at DAV Public School, Neredmet.
25th Jan 2017: 7th National Voters Day celebrated in the Vidyalaya:
The 7th National Voters Day was celebrated in the Vidyalaya premises on 25th Jan 2017. The celebrations started on 18th Jan with painting competitons,

Chi. K. Shreya of Class IX, Chi. G. Shraddha of Class VII and Chi. Ayush Mohanty of Class VI were the winners for the painting competition. Chi. Satya Sohan, Chi. P. Suhaasi and Chi. E. Spandana (all of them of Class IX)
were the winners of the essay writing competitions. The topic for essay writing was “Free and fair elections- Role of Political Parties ”.

The rangoli competitions were won by Group comprising of Class X
students- Chi. Niharika, Chi. Nihitha, Chi. Sneha and Chi. R. Jhansi. The group comprising of Chi. Suhaasi, Chi. Shreya, Chi. Ananya and Chi.
Aishwarya ; all of them of Class IX won the second prize. Students from Class VII – Chi. Pranavi, Chi. Pooja, Chi. Lasya and Chi. Akshara took the third place.

On 25th , Chi. Avaneesh of Class IX spoke about the importance of
exercising our franchise in the morning assembly. Chi. Ananya Bharati of Class IX led the Vidyalaya through the National Voters Day Pledge. Smt. Satya
Venkatesh , HOD of Social Department spoke about the significance of celebrating the National Voters Day.

26th Jan 2017: Republic Day Celebrations:

The 68th Republic Day of our country was celebrated in our Vidyalaya as well. The welcome address by Principal madam, the inspirational speeches in
English and Telugu by Class XII students , the patriotic songs by the school students brought about a patriotic fervor amongst the entire audience.
The chief guest of the day was Pujya Swami Brahmanadaji, regional head, Chinmaya Mission, Karnataka . Swami Brahmanandaji and Swami
Chidatmanandaji were welcomed with the traditional Purna Kumbham followed by the flag hoisting.

The school Kho kho teams which had won trophies at the Chinmaya Khel
Milan at Kasergod in Kerala were blessed by Swamiji. A rolling trophy was introduced in the academic year 2016-17 for the best house. Prema House was adjudged the best house for the year and the representatives of this house
received this trophy at the hands of Swamiji.
He gave a very short, inspiring message to the audience about Indian
youngsters staying back in India, which was very well received by the audience
and reiterated by the other dignitaries as well.

A very unique feature of our Vidyalaya during the Republic Day Celebrations is the Thyagaraja Aradhana Mahotsavam. This year this Mahotsavam featured almost 150 students from classes III to XII, on a single
platform, rendering Carnatic music. The songs rendered were Ramadasu

Keertana, Annamacharya Keertana, Tillana , a few other compositions of Late Sri Balamuralikrishna, and two of the Pancharatna Keertanas of Saint Thyagaraja. This was a spectacular musical concert, very well appreciated by
each and every person in the audience.

28th Jan 2017: Participation in SPARK -The 6th Annual Science Fair.
Dr. K.V.Rao Scientific Society holds an annual science fair wherein the
SPARK Innovation Awards are given for entries displaying use of scientific concepts for solutions to an existing problem through some novel concept or device.
The SPARK Innovation Award is KVRSS‟s small contribution towards fostering the culture of scientific enquiry by creating a multi state competition
which will make children understand the harnessing of the scientific principles they have learnt and work with their own hands to create a new product.
SPARK- The 6th Annual Science Fair for the year 2016-17 was open to students from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and TamilNadu
and was held on 28th Jan 2017 at Siddhartha Nagar Welfare association, Vengalrao Nagar, Hyderabad. A total of 240 projects were received by the institution, which included eight projects from our Vidyalaya. After scrutiny,
only 26 projects were selected from all the states, of which two of them were from our students.
Chi. A. Ananya and Chi. K. Harini Sree of Class X created a model of “Production of Electricity from Temple waste”. This was a perfect example of
best out of waste. Chi. Rushab Dugar of Class X made a working model titled “Railway Intra Transport System”. This system is capable of picking up upto four passengers along with their luggage right from the parking lot and
dropping them at their appropriate destination (the correct platform number, train and boggie number) at the railway station. An absolutely innovative
project! Chi. Rushabh‟s model was amongst the few best models that got selected as the winning projects. A very good attempt to make our nation a scientific and digital India! Keep it up children!

29th Jan 2017: VVM StateLevel Comp.
Eight students from the Vidyalaya qualified for the state level of the VVM competition. Chi. Poorna of Class XI, Chi. Ameya and Chi. Vivek of Class VII
and Chi. Siddharth, Chi. Yatin, Chi. Saatwik, Chi. Shruthi, and Chi. Gayathri of Class VI participated in the State level competition of the Vidyarthi Vignan Manthan competition. A total of 120 students from Classes VI to IX (20

students from each class) from all the districts of Telangana got selected for this level held at IICT (Indian Institute Of Chemical Technology) on the 29th of Jan 2017.
We hope to see many more children participating in such science competitions and bring alive the dream of our beloved ex-president of India, Dr.
A. P. J. Abdul Kalam to keep up the scientific temperament alive in each and every future citizen of our nation.

30th Jan: Martyrs Day:
The entire Vidyalaya observed two minutes of silence at 11:00 am on account of Martyrs‟ Day, the day when the Father of the Nation, Mahatma

Gandhiji was assassinated in the year 1948. Also, all the soldiers who sacrificed their lives, while defending the sovereignty of the nation were remembered.
31st Jan 2017: Sanskrit Olympiad- 2nd level
Three of our Vidyalaya students, Chi. Arul Menon of Class VIII, Chi.
Debanshi Dwibedi of Class VIII and Chi Sai Nandini of Class VII qualified for the next round of Sanskrit Olympiad which was held on the 31st Jan 2017.
Best of Luck to these students. We hope they reach greater heights.

Some of our Vidyalaya students participated in a dance performance organized by Sri Sarada Nritya Niketan on the 24th of Jan 2017 at the
Ravindra Bharati auditorium. 1) Chi. Saroja of Class III, 2) Chi. Harshita of Class IV, 3) Chi. Anjali of ClassV, 4) Chi. Nehal of Class V, 5) Chi. Sai
Pranavi of Class VII and 6) Chi. Shruthi of Class VII –were part of this dance performance.
Chi. Chakrika Raj of Class II participated in a Roller Skating Competition organized by the Kukatpally Sports Association on the 22nd of January 2017. She secured third place in the finals of the speed skating competition.
Chi. Shravan Kumar of Class VI participated in the Under-14 Boys Doubles Badminton tournament organized at the KVBR Indoor Stadium on the 21st
and 22nd of January 2017. He won the silver medal.
Chi. Rishanka Chakravartulu of Class II participated in a dance
performance organized by Vishwa Samskruthi Vaibhavam at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram, Baghlingampally on the 26th of January. Her name was
included in the Telugu book of records and the Telangana Book of records. She was awarded certificates by all the above three organizations.
Chi. Shruti of Class VI got the first place in the seniors category in an essay writing competition conducted by the Siddhartha Nagar Association on 25th of January 2017 on the occasion of Republic Day. The topic given to her was
“Swaccha Bharat”.

Kindergarten Section:
As part of the CCA activities, the Kindergarten students participated in the following compititions.
LKG: Rhymes-Recitation competition.
UKG: Show and Tell – Students brought a toy from home and explained about it.
All the Kindergarten chidren had a colouring competiton and also a few sports activities. Running races and musical chair were held as part of the
sports activities.
They had a lot of fun participating in all these group activities, in the
process learning about team spirit and sportsmanship.
