Who moved my intelligence? How education can use Artifical Intelligence to boost Human Intelligence. Inaugural lecture of the Francqui Chair 2018 by prof. dr. Rose Luckin KU Leuven Campus Kulak Kortrijk | 22 March 2018 at 18.00 The title of this talk is inspired by a self-help book from the 1990’s called ‘Who moved my Cheese: An Amazing Way to Deal with Change in Your Work and in Your Life’. Despite significant criticism, this book became a bestseller and a popular tool in any change manager's back pocket. The implications of Artificial Intelligence and automation for change in the future workplace is the subject of much current debate and the implications for all education sectors are significant. But how should Higher Education respond? In this presentation Prof. Rose Luckin will consider the question ‘Who moved my Intelligence?’ and the inferences one can draw from exploring the answers to this question, about how we need to respond as educators to the consequences of workplace automation. Rose Luckin is professor at the University College London, Knowledge Lab, focusing on learning analytics, artificial intelligence and educational technology. Her research applies participatory methods to the develop ment and evaluation of technology for learning and teaching. Prof. Luckin investigates the relationship between people, their context, the concepts they are learning and the resources at their disposal. In addition to over 50 peer-reviewed articles and two edited volumes, professor Luckin is the author of Re-Designing Learning Contexts (Routledge, 2010), and lead author of the influential Decoding Learning Report (Nesta, 2012). She has advised
