Background
• Identify potential changes, challenges and developments for the future of NHS library and knowledge services
• Determine the implications of changes for staff development and succession planning
• Design and commission learning and development opportunities
• Enable NHS library staff at all grades to meet the future challenges of the service

First Steps
• Initial brainstorming session identified the key inter-related areas to explore
• Literature search identified existing evidence to our thinking or validate conclusions
• Facilitated meetings to clarify direction and process

Workshop
• Presenting our thinking and initial evidence (drivers for change, trend data from a sample site, what might change etc) and testing our thinking with the participants
• Identifying skills and knowledge that might be required in the future using the current Knowledge and Skills Framework as a tool
• Identifying learning opportunities (already available or requiring commissioning) and how they could be best delivered
