RESIDENCE LIFE
RA TRAINING BACKGROUND
Training starts two weeks prior to the beginning of the fall semester.
All RA’s are required to attend the two weeks of training.
Training is designed to help the RA’s prepare for any difficulties they may face while in the position.
RA TRAINING BACKGROUND CONT.
Training is also a time for the staff to bond and build relationships within the staff.
The professional Staff design and prepare the training sessions based on what they feel is needed to prepare the RA’s.
MOTIVATION FOR INTRODUCINGONLINE RA TRAINING WITH FACE-TO-FACE TRAINING
Based on evaluations from previous years RA’s felt that two weeks was not enough time for all the material but do not want to spend any extra time on campus.
The returning RA’s felt that they were given repetitive information each year and not enough new material.
Professional staff were overwhelmed with training as well as preparations for the fall semester.
OUTCOMES / OBJECTIVES
Use online training to deliver general information to Ras during the semester that does not require face-to-face meetings.
Allow RA’s to interact with each other and professional staff to build a greater working relationship.
Both student staff and professional staff will feel more prepared for the semester.
OUTCOMES / OBJECTIVES CONT.
Online training will cover general information, allowing more details emphasized in face-to-face training.
Student Staff can review material at anytime during the school year and complete work at their own pace but still meeting required deadlines.
