Administrative tasks include oversight of the Master’s and Doctoral practicum and internship training process; including, quality control of training sites, preparing students to successfully apply and match at practicum and pre-doctoral internship training programs, developing additional training sites, and auditing student performance in regard to clinical training tasks. Faculty responsibilities include teaching courses within the Doctor of Psychology program, chairing students’ Clinical Research Projects (dissertation equivalent), and participation in prospective student interview days. Department and School Wide committee participation include: Chair of the Student Professional Development Committee, Vice Chair of the Institutional Review Board, and member of the Clinical Training Committee. I have also served as ad hoc Chair of Student Professional Development Committee appeals procedures for the university’s counseling program. Research activities include the creation and chairing of a student research group exploring psychology graduate student wellness and resiliency. This group has presented at both local and national conferences.

children through a wide variety of referral agencies including: the Social Security Disability Administration, the Illinois Department of Rehabilitation, the DeKalb County Drug Court C.L.E.A.N. Program, and the Northern Illinois University Reading and Learning Department. The majority of my assessment work consists of providing assessment and diagnoses of adult, adolescent, and child disability as part of the Social Security Disability benefits application process.

Oversaw the practica and pre-doctoral internship training programs for the Center for Rural Psychology. This involved co-facilitating group supervision, organizing didactic training opportunities, providing individual supervision for doctoral students and master’s level clinicians, as well as the general administration and design of these training programs. I also provided outpatient individual therapy for adults and adolescents, couples therapy, and psychological testing for all ages. Unfortunately, as a result of financial hardship, the clinic discontinued its training program and closed in August of 2011.

Provided outpatient therapy for adults, adolescents, families, couples, and groups. Worked as part of a treatment team providing mental health services for adults in the clinic’s Partial Hospital Day Program and adolescents in the Intensive Outpatient Program. Services provided included: group process therapy, expressive group therapy, individual therapy, and psycho-educational groups. Other responsibilities included administration and writing of integrated psychological reports for patients in the Partial Hospital and Intensive Outpatient Programs. Worked extensively with Family Bridges, part of the Healthy Marriage Initiative federally funded program, in providing preventative therapy and education to couples and families in the area as well as research and paper publication.

Provided individual therapy for children, adults, and adolescents, as well as pre-marital and couples therapy. An integrative approach to therapy was utilized with an emphasis on psychodynamic interventions. Also conducted bereavement/loss group therapy, a couples communication workshop, a premarital workshop, and a yoga for stress reduction group. Other responsibilities included professional presentations for community churches (topics included couples communication, spiritual disciplines, bereavement, and parenting).

Provided short-term counseling for undergraduate students, with an emphasis on career counseling, family of origin issues, depression, and anxiety. Consulted with staff and students concerning campus outreach events such as depression awareness and eating disorders. Conducted professional presentations to various student groups as requested (topics included roommate/relationship issues, suicide awareness, and family dynamics).

Administered, scored, and interpreted psychological assessments for the child and adolescent inpatient unit at Provena Mercy Hospital in Aurora, Illinois as well as Signature Consulting & Psychological Services private practice clients in both the Saint Charles and Sycamore locations. Other responsibilities included writing integrated reports for each client and consulting with an interdisciplinary team of nurses, psychiatrists, and physicians. Tests frequently utilized included: Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory for Adolescents, Millon Adolescent Clinical Inventory, Rorschach, Beck Depression Inventory, House-Tree-Person, Personality Inventory for Children, Rotter Incomplete Sentences, and Connors’ Rating Scale - Revised.

Assisted in teaching and research responsibilities for the Graduate Psychology department of Wheaton College. Specific responsibilities included live supervision of students’ clinical work, provision of feedback on video and audio therapy sessions, facilitation and supervision of group experiential assignments, and teaching classes. Also provided training for students and faculty in NVivo 8 qualitative software and trained research group students in grounded theory coding. Volunteer activities include providing photography for events, creating flyers and brochures, and assisting during the annual fundraising benefit.
