The Triple Bottom Line

Our commitment to the environment comes naturally to us. We believe that the best place we can all begin to conserve and protect our natural resources is in our own backyard.

We are continuing to explore and introduce important initiatives that will help the planet. Our commitment will continue as we develop new ways to improve everything we touch – from the facilities we design, to industrial plantings, to driving economic development.

The KPC Group is built on the tenets of the Triple Bottom Line whose foundation is based on the well-being of the people and communities where the company conducts its business (people), sound and sustainable environmental practices (planet), and sterling financial performance (profit).

Our global objectives are to:

reduce the pressure on the world’s natural forests by providing alternative fiber and productsdrive change from a petroleum-based society to a bio-based societycreate an industry that is carbon negative, off-grid and that follows the principles of the International Living Future Institute.

Mission: Autonomous Manufacturing Centers

The 21st Century has ushered in a new area of global change awareness, and a change in direction of the manufacturing model. Organic materials are being utilized, global commerce has reached unprecedented levels, and attention to the world’s poor and under developed societies has now come into focus.

The Solution:

The Autonomous Manufacturing Center. In an effort to make technology more widely available and provide basic comforts to local populations we have created the Autonomous Manufacturing Centers (AMC); a new model in global prosperity.

AMC ATTRIBUTES:

Driving India into the future.Preface SAIG (Self Assembled International Group), a subsidiary of the KPC

Group; is currently exploring international expansion options in India.

A cutting edge transportation company, SAIG currently manufactures low cost electric vehicles in Vietnam for global distribution. Our philosophy is to provide eco-friendly transportation as a safe and affordable option to low income families while making a positive impact in the markets we faithfully serve.

Through the 3 principles of environment, education, and employment; SAIG wishes to support India’s innovation and people.

The following proposal outlines how we will accomplish this through cooperation.

The fastest growing plant on earth. Some species can grow as much as one foot per hour. Certain types may remove hazardous pollutants from soils contaminated by sewage/industrial waste.High cellulose content. It’s one of the strongest building materials with a tensile strength of 28,000 psi.Bamboo captures 35% more carbon than wood trees. It has a higher tensile strength than many alloys of steel. It can tolerate extreme conditions and depleted soils that most plants cannot. Bamboo is harvested and replenished with no impact to the environment. Introducing bamboo into deforested mountainous regions aids the soil in retaining water, reduce risk of flash floods and landslides.Bamboo is drought resistant.

Our bamboo plastic composite from bamboo powder content, particle size, type of coupling agent, etc. The bamboo-plastic composite is made of extrusion and injection molding process. Results show: when bamboo powder content is 30%, impacting strength of the material is the highest; the bamboo-plastic composite which made of Silane and MAPE has higher impacting strength than others; when PP: HDPE = 2:3, the impacting strength of the bamboo-plastic composite is the highest. Compared with these factors, the coupling agent on impacting strength is the most obvious influence.

We are currently involved the development of plastics for car interiors made from plant-based resin and bamboo fiber. that the use can help replace processed wood and oil of bio plastics -based materials in car interiors.

The plastic, called polybutylene succinate, or PBS, is a resin made from corn or sugar cane, and reinforced with fibers from the fast —growing bamboo plant. Test results showing an estimated 50% reduction in lifecycle CO2 emissions over petrol-based polypropylene, and a roughly 80% VOC reduction over processed wood hardboard.

Page 39: Kpcgroupfull2

Working in cooperation with Global Hom and A Bamboo Group we are currently manufacturing prototypes of the low cost bamboo homes. New manufacturing methods and supply chains enable low income families to own conventional housing.

The Bamboo Home

Page 40: Kpcgroupfull2

First implementation of this technology was an innovative segmented bamboo fiber composite mast that can be assembled on-site during the wind turbine installation and can provide a number of short and long term benefits:

Durability: organic fiber composites actually have a longer lifetime and do not require maintenance (such as painting and corrosion protection). They also have various mechanical advantages such a better fatigue resistance.

Significant weight reduction of >40% over steel means that, for example, each of our prototype mast segments weighs less than 30kg; therefore the segments can be easily handled and transported by two installers, supporting ease and efficiency of installation.

A greener and more appealing product: Using carbon-sequestering organic fibers and ecological resins, our towers are actually carbon-negative and can be recycled. The more appealing and less industrial looking product design - which can have natural or painted finished - blends better into the typical environment for small and medium size on-shore turbines.

Cost savings: The prototype bamboo composite mast has been costed on par with comparable steel masts at current prices (as of 2012). However, steel prices show a long-term upwards trend; small turbine manufacturers were already hit hard in 2008 from a doubling of steel prices. By replacing considerable amounts of steel with organic fiber composite, we reduce the impact of such price rises.

Sustainability: Organic fibers can be sourced from various locations, and do not only support the environment, but also local communities. We have developed small and medium volume manufacturing processes that can be implemented in small workshops and with regional proximity to the target markets.

Recently, a large number of scientists and manufactures shown their interests on natural fiber reinforced composites. Not only because of the relative lower cost, but also with better renewability.

In wind turbine blade application, bamboo shown its low weight and fastest growth rate, as a result, bamboo laminate could work as a candidate of the core materials of the blade. The operation load of bamboo laminate is lower than UD-glass fiber composite, but better than Balsa wood which is the other common used nature composite.

Bamboo Wind Turbine Street Light

Bamboo Street Light, the concept streetlight will cut the use of conventional electricity. So, it comes equipped with a small wind turbine integrated into the top of the light.

During the day, the Bamboo Eco Street Light harnesses wind energy and stores it in an underground battery. When it gets dark, the stored electricity can be used to power the light. The specially designed turbines can rotate to any direction to maximize power generation. It comes embedded with intelligent light sensors that control any minor fluctuations in daylight, and accordingly, turn the streetlight off and on when required. Moreover, it flaunts low voltage LEDs to disperse the light.

Page 43: Kpcgroupfull2

KPC has implemented several technologies for the production of bamboo. All applicable intellectual protections are currently being filed. Current innovations include:

Clean processing methodsProduction processesBio plastic resin processesStructural insulated panelsBamboo fiber glass injection mold processesClosed loop textile manufacturingContinuous strand manufacturing for bamboo composites and carbon fibers Wind turbine blades

The purpose of the factory includes:Scaling up and automating the equipment to meet production targets.Configuring the equipment and technology for efficient product processing and flow.Mitigate the risk of a new industry and manufacturing process.Commercial scale demonstration of processing capability under diverse climate and growing conditions found from year to year.Create a manufacturing process to produce a consistent quality of biofibre products that meet or exceed industry standards and requirements.
