At the end of the 2013, a lady brought me the horoscope of her mother and wanted me to read the same to know about the present health condition of her mother, who was hospital-ized at that time for treatment for a pain in throat and difficulties of swallowing food. Fur-ther she said that the doctors had conducted several investigations, but neither conclusion nor diagnosis not yet been made.

Birth details are as below: Mrs. Sriyani, 28 Feb. 1960, 06.09 am, Mirigama Govt. Hospital, Western Province, Sri Lanka, 07N15, 80E08, Asc. Aquarius 10:17:35, Jupiter Vimshttari Mahadasa Balance 02Y, 06M, 13D, KP New Ayanamsa 23° 12' 38" , calculated by KPAstro 4.1

As the request is for bad health, I started the chart reading from the Lagna Sub Lord, by taking into account the health rule of Sri C. R. Bhatt in his "Horoscope and Diseases", page 81. "If the sub lord of the Asc. be the significator (i.e. in the star of the occupant or own-er) of the house 6 (sickness) or 8 ( danger to life) or 12 ( hospitalization), it is not good for health."

As per the attached natal chart, the Ascendant sub lord is Jupiter, the lord of houses 2 & 11, located in 10th house, in Sagittarius a sign of its own, in the star of Kethu and in the sub of Rahu. Neither sub lord Jupiter itself nor its star Kethu or sub Rahu are direct signifi-cators of the said houses 6, 8, 12 as in the above rule. Since Rahu and Kethu are shadowy planets, it is a must to scrutinize the behavior of these nodes to come to a conclusion of La-gna sub lord Jupiter.

Being having no rulership for any sign, nodes firstly act as the representatives of the con-joined planets and secondly for the aspecting planets and next act for the owner of the signs which they are placed, according to KP rules for Nodes.

Further more in this study I found that the planets responsible for the illness of this native are connected with Cardinal houses i.e. Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. First cardinal house Aries, where the 3rd house located is under the rule of Mars, Venus & Moon. The Moon is the lord of next cardinal house Cancer (6th cusp) and connected with Venus. Li-bra the third cardinal house is ruled by Venus as the owner and 6th sub lord. The last car-dinal house Capricorn is the place for 12th, where two cardinal lords Venus and Mars are tenanted. According to these configurations I could see a clue about the disease as a malig-nant and cancerous.

Again when scanning the chart the depositors of 12th, Venus and Mars, which represent cardinal houses, are the lords of 3 & 4 which denote the breast of the native. Both Venus and Mars are connected with Moon, another cardinal lord and the governor of the breast.


The 3rd is under Mars, Venus, Moon and 4th is under Venus, Moon, and Jupiter. Jupiter is responsible for malignant growth with disease makers Moon and Venus. Also Uranus in Cancer, produces ulcers in breasts and abnormal growth. Finally, on the basis of the fol-lowing findings, I came to a conclusion that the native was suffering from breast cancer, and informed the situation to the lady on the 13 Dec. 2013. The KP disease finder 6th cusp sub lord Venus (breast) signifies 6 (disease), 12

(hospitalization), 7 (Maraka), 9 (Badhaka) and 4 (breast); 6th cusp and 6th cusp sub lord are connected with Moon (4th sign Cancer ruler) and Sat-

1st cuspal sub lord signification of favorable house 1, 11 along with unfavorable house 2,10,6,7 indicated the longevity of middle age. The native was passing her 53rd year of age. According to the death rule of KP, when the longevity is at its end, Maraka and Badhaka significators are come to effect during the last period.

At the time of the analysis, the native was under Venus Maha Dasa (1-Self. 12 - Hospitali-zation/Moksha/ Renunciation, 6 - Diseases, 4 - End of Life, 9 - Badhaka, 8 (Aspect - Dan-ger to Life) and in the sub period of Rahu (1 - Self, 7 - Maraka). Since period rulers are in-dicators of life threat, I concluded that the disease would be incurable and life of the native is in danger.

After 4 days of my analysis, by a scanning the doctors had found that she was suffering from a breast cancer, which was spread up to stomach and attacked Esophageal too. Ac-cording to medical surgeons there had not been any chance even for a surgery to remove damaged areas.

It was too sad to hear her demise on the 15th Jan. 2014. On the day of her death the main period ruler Venus was transiting over the star of Kethu in 2 Maraksthana and in the sub of the natal 8th lord Mercury. Sub ruler Rahu was transiting in 8th house over the star of Moon and sub of Venus, main period ruler. The luminary Sun was transiting over Mercury star and Moon was transiting over Sun's star in 7 Maraka.

In addition to the analysis above, one more point to ponder is that this chart can be con-sidered as a Kala Sarpa Yoga horoscope with all the planets posited between Rahu and Ke-thu, according to some schools of astrology. Some can say that the reason for such a trag-edy faced by the native is due to evil effects of such Kala Sarpa Yoga. But it is worth to note that unless and until one makes an overall assessment of all planets and cusp, he cannot come to such a conclusion only through single yoga. On the other hand, no refer-ence of KSY can be found in any classical text even from very olden days in the history of Astrology. This unproven KSY cannot be considered as a rule of thumb, similar to any oth-er rules and hence in KP, it is not considered at all.

Learning astrology is very much like learning a new language. First basic factors should be understood systematically and with consistent practice one will become fluent in the subject of learning. But Astrology is not a simple subject to deal. Most of the KP followers know what is KP System and most importantly Ruling Planets which is the master piece in KP As-trology. The moment we think of Ruling Planets means it is only 5 components and this becomes the primary ruling planets and they are:

Lord of the day Moon Sing Lord Moon Star Lord Lagna Lord Lagna Star Lord.

Nodes Rahu/Ketu acts as an agent. If any planet in close conjunction becomes a second-ary Ruling Planet.

Note : The aspect of another planet on ruling planets is not considered.

Regarding Moon Sub and Lagna Sub as ruling planets:

They are considered as a option only and they come under Secondary Ruling Planets. If we consider these two ruling planets, then there will be several planets appearing as ruling planets and selection of fruitful significators will become a difficult task. So more emphasis has to be given to 5 ruling planets only. Also we have to apply the ruling planets properly while judging and fixing final selection of the ruling planets. So I will not deal elaborately on this subject and our subject matter is how ruling planets play a very important rule in se-lecting the favourable Dasa, Bhukthi and Antara for the materialization of the life event un-der consideration. Here I am taking a marriage case to see how ruling planets help in fix-ing the favourabe Dasa, Bhukthi and Antara for the marriage timing.

Query Regarding Marriage:

Principle: If the 7th cuspal sublord signifies either house 2-7-11, then marriage is prom-ised. Some KP followers has also considered house 5 and 8 but in my opinion 5 and 8 alone will not give marriage without support of either 2 or 7 or 11.

We shall analysis the following chart step by step and come to a conclusion whether mar-riage is promised or not. If so then we can see which are favourable Dasa/Bhukthi/Antara to be considered for timing of marriage.

Suppose if you take any cusp from 1st to 12th, there are three components.

Sign Lord ----- Star Lord ----- Sub Lord

In KP system we know very well that sublord plays a significant role for deciding the matter whether it is a cuspal sublord or planetary sublord.

In the example chart the seventh house starts in Simha Rasi at 12-51-47 and ends in Kanya Rasi at 18-25-57. So 7th cusp has fallen into Sun sign/Ketu star/Mercury sub.

The cuspal sub lord (CSL) of 7th cusp is Mercury, a deciding factor, located in house 12, owner of houses 5,8. No planet is in the star of Mercury, and this Mercury is the CSL of 1-2-4-5-7-8-10. Mercury is in the star of Mars in 12, owner of 3,10, and in the sub of Jupiter in 6, owner of 2, 11 houses. So Mercury is promising marriage at both planet and sub level by signifying 2,7 and 2,11 respectively.

Step-2 Consider the fourfold planetary significators of houses 2-7-11 as follows:-

1. Planet/planets in the star of occupants of the houses.2. Occupants of the houses.3. Planets placed in the star of owners of the houses.4. Owner of the housesAlso consider the planets deposited in the sub of a planet who are significators of 2-7-11.

Venus is in the sub of Saturn, who is a significator of 7. Mercury is in the sub of Jupiter, who signifies 2, 11. Total significators of 2,7,11 are Sun, Moon, Rahu, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, Ketu and Venus.

Step-3 Selection of fruitful significators

Select the common planets between ruling planets at the time of judgment and total signifi-cators for 2-7-11 (Marriage).

Ruling Planets at the time of Judgment at 5 pm on 29-11-2014 Lagna sign lord – Venus Lagna star lord – Sun Moon sign lord – Saturn Moon star lord – Rahu Daylord - Saturn Mercury is in conjunction with Sun.

Option : Moon sublord is Mercury. So common significators between total significators and ruling planets are: Saturn, Rahu, Sun, Mercury and Venus. These planets are favourable to offer marriage.

Step-4 Selection of fruitful Dasa/Bhukthi/Antara

At the time of judgment the native of the chart is running Mercury Dasa from 22-10-2009 till 22-10-2026, and current Bhukthi is Venus Bhukthi – from 13-03-2013 till 12-01-2016.

At the time of judgment it is Jupiter Antara till 06-1-2015. In Venus Bhukthi remaining Antaras are Saturn, Mercury, and Ketu. Event will not occur during Venus Bhukthi since Sun is stronger than Venus in the RPs.

Next Bhukthi is Sun in Mercury Dasa which runs from 12-01-2016 to 17-11-2016. Sun Bhukthi is selected for the eventbto occur since it is strong in the ruling planets and also in the significators of 2-7-11. Under Sun Bhukthi two possible Antras are Rahu and Saturn.

As the Dasa, Bhukthi and Antara lords and Luminaries Sun, Moon will be transiting in the star or sub of these DBA lords or significators of 2,7,11, and node Rahu is generally strong-er than planet Saturn, Rahu Antara from 11-3-2016 to 27-04-2016 is chosen for timing of marriage.

Conclusion:

(1) Native's marriage is promised. (2) Period of marriage will be during Mercury Dasa/Sun Bhukti/Rahu Antara between 11-3-2016 and 27-04-2016. (3) There is a delay in marriage due to Punarphoo dosha and Saturn an/ Rahu in 7th house.

In this article I shall analyze below a chart of very short longevity by KP system. The native was born on 05 March 1975 at 10:43 AM at Guntur.

The native was born in Vrishabha Lagna in a fixed sign. So the 9th house will be Bada-kasthana and 2, 7th houses will be Markasthanas.

Hence if the Lagna cusp sublord is linked with houses 2,7 and 9, then there will be short longevity. The Lagna cusp sublord is Mercury, where Mercury is lord of 2,3 houses. Mercury is posited in the star and sub of of Mars. Mars is the lord of houses 7 (Marakadhipathi),12 (Moksha, end of life) and is posited in the 9th house (Badakasthana).

From the above it is very clear that the Lagna cusp sublord is a strong significator of houses 2, 7 and 9, denoting a short longevity.

In addition the 3rd and 8th cuspal sublord is Venus. Venus is posited in 11th house and is lord of houses 1, 6, in the star of Mercury, lord of 2, 3 houses. Venus is in thr sub of Ketu where Ketu is agent of Venus (1, 6). Having no planet in its stars, Venus is the cuspal sub lord (CSL) of houses 2,3,8,12. Hence Venus is well connected to houses 2 (Marakasthana), 6 (sickness), 8 (serious disease, danger to life),12 (Moksha).

The native was infected with jaundice at the age of 1 year 6 months and it had continued. The running Dasa- Bhukti- Antra was Mer-Jup-Jup.

The Dasa lord Mercury is the significator of houses 2, 7, 9 and 8, 12.

Bhukti lord Jupiter, which is natural significator of lever, is lord of 8th and 9th posited in 11th house in the star of own. Jupiter’s sub lord Rahu is in 7, conjoined with Moon in 7.

Since the 6th CSL is Mercury and posited in the star of Mars in Badakasthana, the native died on 09 Feb 1979 due to disease and complications. The DBA was Mer-Sat-Sat.

As mentioned above the Dasa lord is a strong significator of houses 2, 7, 9. The Bhukti and Antara lord Saturn is posited in 2nd house and lord of 10, 11th houses. Sat-urn is posited in Rahu star where Rah is posited in 7th house. Rahu acts as an agent of Mars where Mars is lord of 7, 12 houses, and posited in Badhaka house (9th house). Saturn is in sub of Moon where Moon is posited in Marakasthana 7thhouse. Hence Bhukti and An-tara lord Saturn is a strong significator of houses 2, 7, 9, 12.

The table below shows that almost all the planets are well connected to houses 2, 7, 9 (Maraka, Badhaka sthanas) at planet, star and sub levels, denoting a short longevity.

Question – 1: Death House (8th) plz discuss about death house( 8th).....

Answer – 1: Double Role of the 8th House in Judgment of Longevity The 8th house plays the confusing double role as the ‘house of longevity’ in judgment of lon-gevity or life span and as the ‘house of death’ by its signification. The houses 1, 3, 8 are ex-amined as the houses of longevity in judging one’s longevity. However the significators of the 8th and 3rd houses by the 1st and 8th cusp sub lords or the running DBAS lords or transit are undesirable malefics for one’s health and longevity due to chronic diseases, serious accidents, suicide, murders, assassinations etc., as presented below:

1) In the judgment of longevity, the Ascendant sub lord is mainly examined as the Ascend-ant sub lord shows one’s health, vitality, immunity and longevity. Among the significators of the Ascendant sub lord, the houses 1,5,9,10 support the longer longevity and the houses 6,8,12 cut the longevity short. 2) To the longevity of father, the houses 2 and 3 counted from the 9th house is evil. (KPReader VI, p 85) The marakasthanas and bhadakasthanas and the planets signifying them according to the method taught in “Krishnamurti Padhdhati Readers” are the strongest death influences, followed by houses 12 (mokshasthana or libration), 8 and 3. 3) The 8th house denotes longevity or span of life, ‘house of death’, suicide, danger, inci-dents. (KP Reader VI, pp 118, 155, 258, 308; KP Reader III, p 165/ 1971 edition, Practical part, p 12, KP Reader II, p 20; KP Reader IV, p 249)

4) The 8th house is known as the house of death in the Western astrology. (Rulership Bookby Rex Bills, p 33; Encyclopedia of Medical Astrology, by H. L. Cornell, p 142; A Student’s Text-Book of Astrology by Vivian E Robson, 2010, p 16 )

5) The 8th house is called the house of "longevity". Therefore planets in the constellation ofevil planets in the 8th house, except Saturn, occupants of the 8th house, planets in the constellation or in the sub of lord of 8, lord of the 8th cusp and planets in any manner con-nected with them indicate "(a) danger to one's life", (b) the cause of death and (c) the place of death. 6) The 4,8,12 houses are called trigonal houses causing fatal incidents (Astrosecrets & KPPart II, pp 94-97 /4-8-12 and Accidents by Kundanthai Nathan/, and K.M. Subramanian’s Sublord Speaks- 3 by p 66) In the Western astrology the 4,8,12 triangle houses are called terminal houses which concern the end of life and death of physical body. 7) Danger to life is indicated during the conjoined period of the lord of the sign, the lord ofthe star, the lord of the sub and the lord of constellation where the 8th house was deposit-ed. (KP Reader III, p 169/ 1971 edition Practical part, p 16)

8) Out of the twins born in the same Lagna and in the same constellation, the child withthe Lagna sub governed by lord of 8 or 6 suffers and dies early. (KP Reader III, p 175/ 1971 edition Practical part, p 22)

12) The 2nd house being 8th from 7th house signifying the ‘death’ of first spouse (7thhouse) or the ‘end’ of 7th house matters (eg. partnership) is referred for the 2nd spouse; 9th house being 8th from 2nd is referred for 3rd spouse and so on. Question -2: Vimshottari Dasa: 365 vs 360 days/year I have a question about the 360-vs-365-day year for the Vimshottari calculation. What do most Hindu astrologers feel? I know that in the West, the 365 day/ year has taken over. First of all I want to ask which has been the traditional year used for Vimshottari?

Answer – 2: As far as my study goes, the 365 days/year Vimshottari dasa starting from Moon has been used by all well known astrologers, like Dr. B V Raman, Prof. K S Krishnamurti, Prof. P. S. The reasons for prefering 365 days/year are as follows: 1) The 360 day year doesn't refer to the length of a Solar year (365.25 days) or Lunar

year (360 tithis, about 354.36 solar days) and is called a Savan year or the civil year. Nowadays it is not in use in any part of the world except for sacrificial purpos-es particularly for the Soma-yajna.

2) In Surya Siddhanta, the Solar month is said to have 30.4382266 days (30. gh26.17.37) and the Lunar month has 29.5305833 days (29. gh 31.50.6). The differ-ence of 0.907643 days (gh 54.27.31) gets corrected by one intercalary month afterevery 32 months and 15.246 days. For the pure Lunar year of about 340 days, thepanchangs in India are corrected to be in line with the solar year by adding one ad-hika masa every 3 years or so.

3) By taking a month of 30 days and a year of 360 days, one cannot go by the univer-sally used Gregorian calendar. If the 360 day year rather than the 365 day year is used for the mahadasa calculation, the gap between them would become more di-vergent with the dasa period, i.e. 6.25 days (365.25-360) after 1 year, 31.5 days (6.25x6) after 5 years, about 6 months after 35 years, a whole year after 70 years, and a native may have to celebrate his 72 birthday even while he has yet to com-plete his 71st year under Vimshottari dasa of the 365 day year.

4) The simplicity of calculation by dividing the year into months by multiplying by 12and further converting into days by multiplying of 30 in the calculation of the dasa balance at birth and sub sub (Dasa-Bhukti-Antra-Sookshma) dasa periods (in Bri-hat Parasara Hora Sastra, Phala Deepika, Tables of Bhukti and Anthara etc) cannot be understood as taking a 360 day year - 12 months x 30 days per month. The year is taken as 365.25 days. The actual dates computed by rigorous calculations by tak-ing actual days of the months and by this simple method differ only by a few days; accurate practically for all astrological purposes.

Question -3: Mean or True Rahu/Ketu Mean motion of nodes mean their daily average retrograde motion. Hence normally we take mean motion of NODES if their speed is not stationary like what is delineated from the chart of Guruji KSK. Sir your opinion for clarity on this point is solicited.

Answer -3: Mean Rahu/Ketu is used in KP particular and Vedic in general with some exceptions like Cuspal Interlinks and System Analysis.

The main reason is that “True” position is somewhat illusory, since the “True” Rahu/Ketu is true “ only twice” a month when the Moon crosses the ecliptic. Other positions provided for the times in between those two points are just a hypothesis.
