SERGEY KOVALEV VS. ANDRE WARD “POUND FOR POUND”
MEGA SHOWDOWN SET FOR SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19
AT T-MOBILE ARENA IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA PRESENTED LIVE BY HBO PAY-PER-VIEW®
LAS VEGAS, NV - On Saturday, Nov. 19 the world’s best pound-for-pound boxer will be crowned at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada as Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev (30-0-1, 26 KOs), the WBO, WBA and IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion, and Andre “S.O.G.” Ward (30-0, 15 KOs), Two-Time World Champion, will square off for 12 rounds of “Pound For Pound” action in their long-awaited showdown. The event will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT and is presented by Main Events, Roc Nation Sports, Krusher Promotions and Andre Ward Promotions. Tickets for the most anticipated fight of the year are on sale now and start at $55 on axs.com and at the T-Mobile Arena box office. The mega-fight will be only the third bout in the history of The Ring Magazine pound-for-pound list to pit two undefeated Top 5 ranked pound-for-pound fighters against each other. Kovalev and Ward are currently ranked the number two and number four pound-for-pound boxers in the world, respectively, by The Ring Magazine, making their hotly anticipated fight only the third bout in the history of The Ring Magazine pound-for-pound list to pit two undefeated top-five ranked pound-for-pound fighters against each other. Odds makers and pundits have this fight evenly matched at 50-50 and it is poised to be a sure-fire 2016 Fight of the Year candidate. History will be made on Nov. 19th! Neither man has faced an opponent like this before. Making the fight even more intriguing, Kovalev and Ward are polar opposites. Kovalev, the Russian Wrecking Ball, 33, has been dominating boxing’s light heavyweight division with his aggressive, fan-friendly style since his breakout performance against then-unbeaten Nathan Cleverly in 2013. His rise to boxing stardom has been meteoric, as he has gone from an unknown fighter from Chelyabinsk, Russia to headlining HBO Pay-Per-View in just four years after signing with his first promoter, Main Events. Out of Kovalev’s 30 career victories 26 have come by way of knockout. Additionally, he has entered into championship rounds only twice in his professional career. Kovalev has always sought to test himself against the best boxing has to offer; he wants to prove in the ring that he deserves that mantle. Ward, 32, the last American man to win an Olympic Gold Medal in boxing (2004), reigned as the WBA Super Middleweight World Champion from 2009 to 2015 while fighting mostly out of his hometown, Oakland, CA. He announced his intention to move to up to the light heavyweight division in search of a bigger challenge in 2015, shortly after signing with his current promoter, Roc Nation Sports. He has been a top rated pound-for-pound fighter since 2011. Ward is seeking to assume his place and leave a legacy at the top of the sport. Kovalev said, “I am very excited to finally get my chance to face Andre Ward on November 19. I want to face the best competition. I want to be the best Pound-for-Pound fighter in the world. Thank you to all of my fans and I hope everyone will come out and see this great fight on November 19 in Las Vegas.” Ward responded, “I am excited. I am looking forward to it. I want to be the light heavyweight champion of the world. We will see you in November. I have been doing this for 22 years and if I am not ready to fight the best now then I will never be ready. I have been preparing for these moments since I’ve been a kid. You got to respect Sergey for the way he has gotten to where he has gotten. He didn’t have any soft touches. He wasn’t protected. He wasn’t really pushed by the media. He is a guy who should get a lot more credit than he has. The winner of this fight could possibly be pound-for-pound #1.” Main Events’ CEO, Kathy Duva, added, “There is no greater thrill for a boxing promoter than putting together a fight that the fans want to see. Sergey has always strived to be the best and face the best and on November 19 the new Pound-for-Pound king will be crowned. I think it is fitting that this fight is taking place in Las Vegas. Las Vegas has been home to many of the biggest and best fights, including both Taylor-Chavez I and De La Hoya-
Trinidad. Now it will be the venue for the first Pound-For-Pound showdown of the new millennium. This should be a great night!”
Roc Nation President & Chief of Branding and Strategy, Michael Yormark, said, "From its inception, Roc Nation Sports Boxing has remained committed to promoting the biggest fights featuring the world’s best fighters. That is exactly what we have in Kovalev-Ward – a fight that transcends boxing, transcends sports, and enters the rarefied realm of seminal cultural events. On Nov. 19, on boxing’s most legendary stage, we will find out who the best boxer in the world truly is. It will be a clash of cultures, styles, strategies and personalities and we are proud to represent Andre and be a part of history." “This pound-for-pound battle between two great champions will be a sensational matchup at T-Mobile Arena,” said Richard Sturm, president of Entertainment and Sports for MGM Resorts International. “We look forward to working with both Main Events and Roc Nation Sports on this championship event which should be one of the most anticipated fights of the year.”
MAURICE HOOKER VS. DARLEYS PEREZ JOIN KOVALEV-WARD “POUND FOR POUND” TELEVISED UNDERCARD
TITLE FIGHT SET FOR SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19
AT T-MOBILE ARENA IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA PRESENTED LIVE BY HBO PAY-PER-VIEW®
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (October 14, 2016) – Rising Dallas, Texas boxing star and NABO Junior Welterweight Champion Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker (21-0-2, 16 KOs) will defend his NABA junior welterweight title against Darleys Perez (33-2-1, 21 KOs) in a ten-round bout on the televised undercard of Kovalev-Ward “Pound For Pound” on Saturday, Nov. 19 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will be produced and distributed live on HBO Pay-Per-View® beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT. In his last appearance on August 6, Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker captivated the crowd at Oracle Arena as the co-feature of Andre Ward vs. Alexander Brand. Hooker wasted no time outperforming Washington D.C.’s Tyrone Barnett, landing a flurry of punches before scoring a technical knockout at the 2:17 mark of the opening round to retain his NABO junior welterweight title. Hooker looks ahead to his next challenge, former WBA World Lightweight Champion Darleys Perez. Perez is coming off a May 20 knockout victory over fellow Colombian Ubadel Soto, an impressive bounce back following a tough title defense loss to Anthony Crolla, the previous year. The veteran fighter, who resides and trains full-time in the U.S., will step up a weight class to meet Hooker. “I want to thank my team at Maple Avenue Boxing Gym, Roc Nation Sports and HBO for giving me the opportunity to show the world a ‘Mighty Mo’ performance on the undercard of the ‘Fight of the Year’,” said Hooker. “For my part, I promise to put on a show for the fans in Las Vegas and the Pay-Per-View audience at home. No one punches like me. It’s going to be lights out.” Hooker added, “I will be dedicating this fight to Aaron Pyror, who passed away, earlier this week. I can’t think of a better way to honor ‘The Hawk’s’ legacy than with a big win. I look to be a world-class junior welterweight champion like him.” “This is my chance get back into the limelight. I have fought all over the world and facing Maurice Hooker in Las Vegas on November 19 is perhaps my last chance to show that I have a lot left inside the ring and I plan to take full advantage of it because losing is not an option,” said Perez. “I will move up to the 140-pound division and I will be ready to challenge this young lion who has never fought a guy like me before. There will be fireworks in Las Vegas and I plan to go home a winner.” “Not only is Kovalev-Ward the most anticipated fight in recent boxing history, with the addition of Hooker-Perez to the televised undercard – Nov. 19 is an evening that international sports fans simply cannot afford to miss,” said Roc Nation President & Chief of Branding and Strategy Michael R. Yormark. “From our very first day in boxing, Roc Nation Sports has committed to making great fights and creating scintillating global events, and we are thrilled to work with Main Events to add this incredible matchup to the undercard, as 'Mighty Mo' Hooker puts his undefeated record on the line against the very talented Colombian Darleys Perez.” "HBO is the pinnacle of pugilistic entertainment. We are very proud to have Maurice Hooker make both his Las Vegas and HBO Pay-Per-View debut on November 19,” said Arnie Verbeek, Hooker’s manager.
“We have worked extremely hard to get to this point in his career and are thankful to Roc Nation Sports for believing in Maurice Hooker’s talent.” Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker (21-0-2, 16 KOs) was born and raised in Oak Cliff, Texas, where he found a boxing home at Maple Avenue Boxing Gym by way of an outreach program for at-risk youths. His natural talent was soon noticed resulting in him competing as an amateur, during which time he participated in over 100 fights, compiling a record of 97 wins and only seven losses, with 67 victories coming by way of knockout. Hooker turned professional on April 29, 2011, taking on the vastly more experienced Tyrone Chatman at the Orpheum Theater in St. Louis. After four rounds, the judges saw the fight 40-36, 37-39 and 38-38, calling the fight a split draw. Undeterred, in his next fight on June 24, 2014, Hooker scored his first professional win, knocking out Wilbert Mitchell in the first round. Eleven wins (eight by knockout) later, he took on undefeated Abel Ramos on January 17, 2014 in a bout that was featured on ShoBox from the Cook Convention Center in Memphis. After eight close, hard-fought rounds, the judges saw the fight a draw. Four consecutive knockout victories would follow before he took on fellow undefeated prospect Eduardo Galindo on June 26, 2015 at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas for the vacant NABO junior welterweight title. “Mighty Mo” did not disappoint his legion of hometown fans who saw him capture the title with a sixth round technical knockout victory. On October 17, 2015, Hooker successfully defended his title at Madison Square Garden in New York City against his toughest opponent to date in Ghislain Maduma. The 10-round decision win came on the undercard of Gennady Golovkin vs. David Lemieux and was featured on the event’s “freeview” as well as streamed online around the world. “Mighty Mo” made his debut under the Roc Nation Sports banner on the undercard of Andre Ward vs. Sullivan Barrera, this past March at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, where he annihilated opponent Wilfrido “La Roca” Buelvas of Columbia in the first round of a 10-round junior welterweight bout by way of technical knockout. Hooker returned to Oracle Arena on August 6 as the co-feature on the Ward-Brand undercard, defeating Tyrone Barnett of Washington, D.C., to remain the NABO Junior Welterweight Champion. Hooker is ready to step up to the challenge on November 19 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas when he faces former WBA World Lightweight Champion Darleys Perez. Follow Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker on Twitter @mightmohooker, Instagram @mauricemightymohooker and Facebook: www.facebook.com/mauricemightymohooker/. Darleys Perez (33-2-1, 21 KOs) is a celebrated Colombian boxer hailing from San Pedro de Uraba. As an amateur, with a record of 82 wins and 7 losses, he captured the lightweight boxing gold medal at the 2006 South American games in Buenos Aries, Argentina, and was a contender at the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing, China. Perez made his professional debut on February 14, 2009, by way of knockout over fellow countryman Edwin Ortiz. 27 consecutive victories followed, earning Perez a shot at the interim WBA World lightweight title against undefeated Yuriorkis Gamboa at the Bell Center in Montreal, Canada on June 8, 2013. In a closely-fought contest that went the distance, Gamboa prevailed, handing Perez his first career loss. A year later, Perez received a second chance at the interim WBA World lightweight title, successfully scoring a unanimous decision over Argenis Lopez at the Sheraton Hotel in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Perez was promoted to full titleholder status when the WBA stripped Richar Abril of the belt for twice failing to make title defenses. In the first of back-to-back defenses of the WBA World lightweight title on July 18, 2015, Perez topped hometown challenger Anthony Crolla with a majority decision draw at the Manchester Arena in the United Kingdom. In the rematch on November 21, 2015, again at Manchester Arena, Perez was taken down for the count in the fifth round by a single body shot. Undeterred by his second loss, Perez returned to the ring on May 20, 2016, scoring with a big second-round knockout over Ubadel Soto. Perez looks to continue his upward streak as he moves up a weight class to take on Maurice Hooker for the NABO junior welterweight title on November 19 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Isaac Chilemba Returns to the Ring to Face Oleksandr Gvozdyk
on Kovalev vs. Ward “Pound for Pound” Undercard
Saturday, November 19 from the T-Mobile Arena Presented Live by HBO Pay-Per-View®
Las Vegas, Nevada: Isaac “Golden Boy” Chilemba (24-4-2, 10 KOs) will return to the United States on Saturday, Nov. 19 to face dangerous light heavyweight prospect and NABF Light Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr “The Nail” Gvozdyk (11-0, 9 KOs) in a ten round bout as part of the Kovalev vs. Ward “Pound for Pound” pay-per-view telecast live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. The bout will be presented by Main Events in association with Top Rank. The event will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT. Chilemba, 29, a native of Blantyre, Malawi fighting out of Johannesburg, South Africa, is coming off a hard-fought loss against WBO, WBA and IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev. Isaac holds the impressive distinction as only the second fighter in Kovalev’s career to go the full 12 rounds. The only is future Hall-of-Famer Bernard “The Alien” Hopkins. In doing so, Chilemba managed to raise more than a few eyebrows among boxing fans and media. In this redemption fight, Chilemba will have a tough challenge against Oleksandr Gvozdyk, 29, of Kharkov, Ukraine. Despite having only 11 professional bouts, Gvozdyk is a top-ten ranked light heavyweight in the WBC, WBO and IBF. Since making his professional debut in 2014, Oleksandr has defeated the first 11 opponents he has faced, stopping nine of them for an impressive 82% knockout-to-win ratio. In his last bout Gvozdyk secured his fifth straight stoppage and made his first successful defense of his NABF Light Heavyweight Title against Tommy Karpency in Las Vegas in July. When asked about this match-up Chilemba responded, “Firstly, I thank Main Events for standing by me and for this opportunity. I thank my manager, Jodi Solomon, for always standing by my side and believing in me. I thank HBO, my fans, and all boxing followers around the globe. Oleksandr Gvozdyk, with a good amateur back ground, who is a highly as a rated and undefeated as a pro. I’m going to work with my idol, the person I look up to most, Roy Jones Jr. This is a huge opportunity for me to train with him, learn from him, and have him in my corner. Not only is he the greatest, but he cares and has love for the game. I’m looking forward to getting back in the ring, and completing what I should have done in my fight against Kovalev, but 10 times better than ever!” This fight will be the first time Isaac will be working with his new trainer and legendary fighter, Roy Jones, Jr. who said, “Isaac is a very exciting fighter with a lot of upside. I am very excited to be training him and be part of his team now. I look forward to seeing
much bigger and better things from him in the future. He is fighting a very good opponent so we look forward to this challenge. I can’t wait to start to work with him.” Chilemba’s manager, Jodi Solomon, added, “I am very grateful and happy that Main Events gave Isaac the opportunity to be on this card. I have no doubt he will come into the ring with as much determination and heart as he did against Kovalev and prove that he has what it takes. Also having Roy Jones Jr. in his corner I believe will only bring out an even better Isaac.” Gvozdyk said, “I am really happy to have this opportunity to fight on such a big card like Kovalev-Ward. Thanks to Top Rank, Main Events and to my manager Egis Klimas to make my goals come true! Chilemba is a tough opponent and I am expecting a tough fight. It's a good test for me and I will pass it!” Oleksandr’s trainer, Robert Garcia, added, “Oleksandr Gvozdyk is an Olympic medalist with a lot of amateur experience, great skills and tremendous power. Chilemba is a very good fighter who lost a decision to Kovalev. I think Chilemba will bring the best out of Gvozdyk. Gvozdyk is very dedicated and came to the USA to become a world champion and this fight gets him closer to that dream." Gvozdyk is managed by Egis Klimas who also manages Sergey Kovalev. Klimas said, “I want to thank our promoter and Chilemba's promoter, Main Events, for giving us this great opportunity. A special thanks to Isaac for taking this fight right after his severe fight against ‘The Krusher.’ Isaac look good in his last fight and we hope he can bring the same kind of performance or even better to the ring on November 19. We are very excited as bouts like this one will make this great show better and better. See you in Las Vegas on November 19 or on HBO Pay-Per-View.” According to Main Events’ CEO, Kathy Duva, “Isaac was a warrior against Sergey Kovalev. That was a tough battle for both fighters. Many fighters would have preferred a tune-up fight after facing Sergey Kovalev for 12 rounds but Isaac has the heart of a champion. He wasted no time getting back in the ring and demanded the toughest opposition we could find for him. This should be a great match-up on November 19 in Las Vegas.” “This is a huge opportunity and a step up fight for Oleksandr especially fighting on this card. We believe he's ready but there's only one way to find out and we'll all have the answer on November 19,” said Carl Moretti, VP, Top Rank.
Curtis Stevens vs. James De La Rosa Added to Kovalev vs. Ward “Pound For Pound” HBO Pay-Per-View®
Televised Undercard
Saturday, November 19 from the T-Mobile Arena Presented Live by HBO Pay-Per-View®
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (October 6, 2016): Curtis “Cerebral Assassin” Stevens (28-5, 21 KOs) returns to the ring and the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on the Kovalev-Ward “Pound For Pound” HBO Pay-Per-View undercard to face James “The King” De La Rosa (23-4, 13 KOs) in a ten-round middleweight showdown.
Stevens, 31, of Brownsville, Brooklyn returned to the ring on May 7 of this year and stopped previously undefeated Brazilian prospect Patrick Teixeira in the second round on the HBO Pay-Per-View® undercard of Canelo-Khan. The victory over Teixeira catapulted Stevens back into the ranking of all four sanctioning bodies, including top ten ratings in both the IBF and WBC. He is hoping to continue that momentum and secure another shot at the middleweight title.
De La Rosa, 28, is originally from Mexico but now resides in San Benito, Texas. His most recent win was a unanimous decision upset over former title contender Alfredo Angulo on the undercard of Mayweather-Maidana. De La Rosa has suffered two back-to-back losses since his win over Angulo but both have come at the hands of two previously undefeated prospects in Hugo Centeno Jr. and Jason Quigley. Commonly, fighters in his position would prefer a tune-up to get back on a winning track but, in this case, De La Rosa opted out of that easy route and decided to test himself against another former title contender in Stevens.
According to Stevens, “I’m happy someone is willing to fight me. Bless the Gods. Now, it’s time to turn it up a notch and get ready to check in and check out. The Bully is back!”
This will be Stevens’s second fight working with world-renowned trainer and former world champion John David Jackson. Jackson added, “Curtis Stevens is happy to be stepping back in the ring on November 19 against De La Rosa. He is eager to show the world that he deserves another chance to win the middleweight world title.”
“It’s always good to fight on a big stage,” said De La Rosa. “As always, I’m coming to fight and put on a show. I know I have a tough fighter in front of me in Curtis Stevens. With his style and my style, we’ll warm the fans up for Kovalev-Ward. Thanks to Main Events and AC Sports Management, LLC for putting this together.”
De La Rosa’s manager Adrian Clark added, “This is a must win situation for James and I know that he has the potential to pull off an upset. Curtis Stevens is a very dangerous opposition but again, I believe that JDLR can spoil things and leave Vegas with a ‘W’. It is great to finally work with Main Events again. It has been too long!”
Main Events’ matchmaker and 2015 NABF Matchmaker of the Year Jolene Mizzone had this to say about the match-up: “Kudos to both guys for taking this fight. Curtis Stevens could have waited around for someone to finally accept his challenge, but he wants to keep busy and challenge himself at the same time. James could have looked for that every popular “tune-up” fight but instead opted for a much tougher competitor in Stevens. It’s a breath of fresh air when I get to work with boxers who want to fight!”
Main Events’ CEO Kathy Duva added, “After we announced Curtis would be fighting on the untelevised portion of the Kovalev-Ward PPV card, we heard from a lot of fans asking that the fight be moved to TV so they could see Curtis. What the fans want, the fans get!”
*Note: This morning (October 6, 2016) Curtis Stevens and his fiancée welcomed their son King Stevens at 10:12 am. King weighed in at 4 lbs 12oz. Mother and baby are both doing well.

Shields is set to face decorated fellow American Franchon Crews in a four-round middleweight bout, with each round timed at two-minutes. This will not be the first time the two have faced off. In their first matchup, Shields upset Crews, then the top-ranked American women middleweight, during the 2012 Olympic Trials, the first U.S. team trials for women’s boxing. Crews will also be making her professional debut on Nov. 19. The pay-per-view telecast will be produced and distributed live on HBO Pay-Per-View® beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT. The freeview telecast which includes the live Shields-Crews bout will begin at 7:00 p.m. ET/4:00 p.m. PT and will be available on cable, satellite, and telco channels. As an amateur, Shields achieved unprecedented Olympic success as an American athlete. She is the only boxer in U.S. history, male or female, to successfully defend a title, winning back-to-back Gold medals at the 2012 London and 2016 Rio games. The 21-year-old Flint, Michigan native and four-time USA National Champion has merited accolades at every level of international competition, earning Gold medals in the Pan American Games, two World Championships and two-time AIBA Female Boxer of the Year honors. The pride of a nation, Shields looks to break boxing’s glass ceiling and engage a new generation of fight fans with her move into the professional ranks. “After working hard for so many years and having the honor to represent my country at two Olympic games, I am thrilled to take the next big step in my career, fighting professionally and leading the rise of women’s boxing worldwide,” said Shields. “There is no better place to begin the journey than to join the biggest fight of the year, Kovalev vs Ward, and to fight alongside my idol and fellow U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist Andre Ward. I can’t wait to entertain the fans on Nov.19!” On her opponent, Shields added, "Franchon Crews has an outstanding amateur background, but I'm a once-in-a-century fighter and I fear no one. It will be a great night for women's boxing, a night that I hope will be remembered as one that changed the course of history." “Being on the Kovalev-Ward card with another accomplished fighter like Claressa Shields is such an honor and a step in the right direction for women's boxing and the sport of boxing as a whole,” said Crews. “Moments like these don’t come frequently. Others before me created the blueprint, I opened the door, and Claressa is now ready to walk through it. I am excited about fighting November 19, but the real fight is us tearing down the barriers together.” “Claressa Shields is a uniquely talented and special young woman. At just 21 years old, she is a once-in-a-lifetime type athlete whose talent inside the ring and charisma outside of it gives her the potential to be a trailblazer for women’s boxing and for all of boxing for years to come,” said Mark Taffet and Jamie Fritz, co-managers of Shields. “We are proud to be part of Claressa Shields’s team and are thrilled she will be part of the year’s marquee event, Kovalev vs Ward, on Nov. 19 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.” “Claressa Shields is about to take the boxing world by storm and we are honored to host her professional debut as part of an already loaded fight card on Nov. 19,” said Roc Nation President & Chief of Branding
and Strategy Michael R. Yormark. “Claressa’s unique blend of talent, style and charisma make the two-time Olympian a rising force to be reckoned with in the boxing world and beyond." Claressa Shields is a talented 21-year-old boxer from Flint, Michigan. Inspired by former boxing star Laila Ali, Shields developed a passion for the sport and began boxing at the age of 11. It was soon after beginning her journey she realized her family was apprehensive towards the contact sports. After weeks of family discussions, Shields was granted her family’s permission to pursue her passion – a decision they will likely never regret. Shields burst onto the boxing scene, developing a name for herself as one of the most talented female boxers in the country. Her reputation continued to build through her middle and high school years leading her to become the first ever U.S. women’s boxer to qualify for the 2012 London Olympic Games. To Shields, simply earning an invitation to the Olympics was not enough, she wanted to make a lasting impact for her country. After three exciting fights, Shields was rewarded her first Gold medal in the 165-pound weight class, and became the first American woman to win a Gold medal in boxing. Shields was named the 2014 AIBA Female Boxer of the Year, 2014 USA Boxing National Champion, 2015 Pan American Games Gold Medalist in the light heavyweight division, and two-time World Champion in the women’s middleweight division. Chasing greatness, she became the first U.S. boxer to successfully defend an Olympic title as she earned a second Gold medal at the 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro. Concluding an unparalleled amateur legacy, Shields announced that she would be making her professional debut on the freeview broadcast of the year’s biggest boxing matchup, Kovalev-Ward, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Nov. 19. As a proud Flint, Michigan native, Shields is constantly looking for ways to shine a positive light on her hometown. She understands the importance of being a role model to the youth in her community and has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support she has received since returning from Rio with another Gold medal. Following her first Gold medal summer, Shields became the first in her family to graduate from high school and is enrolled in online college classes to pursue her academic goals and competitive aspirations simultaneously. Follow Claressa Shields on Twitter @ClaressaShields, Instagram @ClaressaShields, and Facebook: www.facebook.com/claressa.shields.7 After an appearance on American Idol, talented singer-songwriter Franchon Crews, a Virginia Beach born, Baltimore native turned to boxing after learning of its healthy fitness benefits. While nurturing her love of performing arts, the newly crowned 2016 World Bronze Medalist and 2012 World Silver Medalist accumulated numerous accolades in multiple weight classes. During a decade long career, she has served as an avid pioneer in women’s boxing by winning over 15 national championships. In 2011, she made history by becoming the first of three women in the U.S. to qualify and compete in the debut of women’s boxing at the Pan American Games. As a 2012 and 2016 Olympic Trial alternate, she continues to push the level of competition by having consistent performances and improving her skills. Her national and international titles solidify her veteran status. With no signs of slowing down, she has defeated iconic Three-Time World Champion and 2012 Olympian Mary Spence of Canada, won eight U.S. Open Gold Medals, defeated the 6’4” 2014 Women’s World Championships Gold Medalist Xiao Li Wang of China and narrowly missed out on a Gold medal at the 2016 Women’s World Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan, settling for a Bronze medal. Crews qualified and competed in the 2016 Olympic Team Trials, the second in history for women pugilists. Making her mark in the sport, she is looking forward to taking her athletic talents to the next level as she continues her journey at the professional level. Along with aspirations to be the best, Crews is currently dedicated to obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.

Date of Birth: April 2, 1983 (33)
Hometown: Chelyabinsk, Russia
Residence: Ft. Lauderdale, FL
Record: 30-0-1 (26 KOs) – WBO, WBA and IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion, WBC Light Heavyweight Diamond Champion and #2 Pound-for-Pound (Ring Magazine), #3 Pound-for-Pound (ESPN, USA Today)
Krusher. The nickname says it all. Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev is the Russian Wrecking Ball. The undefeated unified light heavyweight champion knocks out nearly every opponent who dares to step in the ring with him. He is ranked by Ring Magazine as the number two best pound-for-pound boxer in the world. In 2014, Kovalev was named Fighter of the Year by the WBO, SI.com, BleacherReport.com, NY Post, USA Today, and SherDog.com. His signature win was the November 8, 2014 unification title triumph over future Hall of Famer Bernard Hopkins that cemented Sergey’s status as the world’s top 175-pound fighter and one of the sport’s top pound-for-pound boxers. He also holds knockout wins against former champions Jean Pascal, Nathan Cleverly and Gabriel Campillo. Kovalev has defended his titles eight times, all of which aired on HBO. Kovalev is managed by Egis Klimas, trained by former champion John David Jackson and promoted by Main Events.
Sergey made his professional debut on July 25, 2009 (first round TKO of Daniel Chavez in Greensboro, NC). He stopped all five of his subsequent opponents that year within the first and second rounds.
In 2012, Kovalev and manager Egis Klimas added trainer and former light middleweight and middleweight world champion, John David Jackson, and promoter Main Events to Sergey’s team.
Kovalev burst onto the scene and into the consciousness of boxing fans in January 2013 when he demolished former world champion Gabriel Campillo in three rounds in front of a national US audience on NBCSN Fight Night. He followed that win with a return to Fight Night in June 2013 with a knock out win over Cornelius White.
In August of 2013, Kovalev traveled to the United Kingdom to battle then-undefeated champion Nathan Cleverly in Cleverly’s backyard for the WBO Light Heavyweight Championship. In
Kovalev’s first world title bout and his first fight televised by HBO, it took only 4 rounds for Kovalev to pick up the TKO win and become the new WBO Light Heavyweight Champion. With his world title win over Nathan Cleverly in the United Kingdom, Kovalev became the first Russian born fighter to hold the WBO Light Heavyweight Championship since the title was established in 1988.
For his first title defense, Kovalev traveled to Quebec City, Canada where he successfully defended his title against former amateur standout Ismayl Sillakh on HBO Boxing After Dark. Kovalev wasted no time as he finished Sillakh less than one minute into the second round.
Kovalev made his second title defense and his first appearance in Atlantic City, New Jersey in March of 2014 when he scored a seventh round knockout victory over the previously undefeated Cedric Agnew in his first HBO Boxing After Dark main event. Kovalev’s next title defense also took place in Atlantic City on August 2, 2014, when he successfully retained his title for a third time with a second round TKO win over the previously undefeated Blake Caparello.
In November 2014, Kovalev took on the future hall of famer Bernard “The Alien” Hopkins in Atlantic City, New Jersey in what many believed would be a bout in which Kovalev was not experienced enough for. Kovalev proved his critics wrong by nearly shutting out Hopkins over 12 rounds, and adding both the WBA and IBF Light Heavyweight titles to his collection. As recognition for his outstanding year, Sergey was awarded Fighter of the Year by the following organizations: WBO, SI.com, BleacherReport.com, NY Post, USA Today, SherDog.com. He also made his debut at #9 on ESPN’s pound-for-pound rankings list and is now currently ranked #2 on the pound-for-pound rankings.
Last year, Kovalev stopped former light heavyweight world champion, Jean Pascal, in the eighth round. The fight took place in Pascal’s backyard in front of a hostile crowd at Centre Bell in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. This was his first unified title defense and he also secured the WBC Light Heavyweight Diamond Belt in the process.
Kovalev then headlined his first event in Las Vegas, Nevada. He competed in his first mandatory title defense against the IBF’s number one contender Nadjib “IronDjib” Mohammedi and Kovalev ended the fight early with a knockout of Mohammedi in the third round.
On January 30 of this year, he returned to Montreal, Quebec, Canada to face Jean Pascal, in Pascal’s hometown, for a second time. Kovalev delivered a more impressive beating, and Pascal quit before the start of the eighth round.
The Krusher returned to his home country of Russia in July of this year to face Isaac “Golden Boy” Chilemba in front of a sold out crowd in Ekaterinburg. Kovalev secured a 12-round unanimous decision victory over Chilemba, a top-ten light heavyweight, in his eighth straight title defense since he beat Cleverly in 2013.
Kovalev is originally from Chelyabinsk, Russia but recently immigrated to the United States with his wife, Natalia. The couple now reside in Ft. Lauderdale, FL with their son Aleksandr who was born October 20, 2014.

BOXER: ANDRE WARD NICKNAME: S.O.G. DIVISION: LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT AGE: 32 DATE OF BIRTH: FEBRUARY 23, 1984 HEIGHT: 6’1’’ STANCE: ORTHODOX BORN: SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA LIVES: OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA RECORD: 30-0 (15 KOs) Before becoming the Ring Magazine and WBA Super Middleweight World Champion, rising to the number two spot on the pound-for-pound list and winning the 2011 Fighter of the Year Award (ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Ring Magazine and the Boxing Writers Association of America), a nine-year-old Andre Ward was taken to a boxing gym by his father Frank. He couldn’t possibly have known that the youngster would blossom in to one of the top amateur and professional fighters in the sport. He asked trainer, Virgil Hunter, “to teach his son to hit and not get hit.” Hunter, now Ward’s Godfather, more than delivered on his promise, helping to develop his pupil into one of the most skilled technicians in boxing.
Known for his strong character and integrity outside the ring and his warrior’s instinct inside it, Ward’s skill and talent were apparent early in his outstanding amateur career. He racked up every title in the books, culminating in a gold medal in the light heavyweight division at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. As the only male American boxer to claim Olympic gold in the past decade, Ward joined the likes of Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard and Oscar De La Hoya. He is a regular on HBO, both in the ring and behind the microphone as an expert analyst on their commentary team.
He turned professional on December 18, 2004, scoring a second round technical knockout victory over Chris Molina at Staples Center in a fight that was televised live on HBO. He has gone on to rack up 29 more victories since that time, building an ever-growing legion of fans in the process. In 2009, Ward signed on to join five fellow elite super middleweights in the highly acclaimed SHOWTIME Super Six World Boxing Classic. Shortly after, he fulfilled his lifelong dream by winning the WBA Super Middleweight World Championship with a dominating performance over former World Champion Mikkel Kessler in front of over 10,000 adoring fans at the Oracle Arena in his hometown of Oakland, Calif.
He next made three successful defenses of his WBA title, defeating Allan Green, Sakio Bika and former World Champion Arthur Abraham, dominating his competition in all three fights. Ward’s victory over Arthur Abraham extended his winning streak to 15 years, which reaches back to 1996.
His Super Six efforts culminated in a dominant 12-round unanimous decision victory over Carl “The Cobra” Froch in the Super Six final on December 17, 2011 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The victory earned Ward the WBC and Ring Magazine Super Middleweight World Championships as well as the highly coveted SHOWTIME Super Six World Boxing Classic Cup. As a result of his dominant performances over top-flight competition, Ward was named 2011 Fighter of the Year by every major media outlet.
While many fighters would have taken on a lesser opponent following a run such as Ward’s through the Super Six, the reigning Fighter of the Year chose fellow World Champion Chad Dawson as his next opponent. A fellow pound-for-pound list regular and the light heavyweight world champion, Dawson met Ward in his hometown of Oakland in a highly anticipated showdown on September 8, 2012, which was televised on HBO’s World Championship Boxing. Ward didn’t disappoint the packed house at Oracle Arena, stopping Dawson in the 10th round of a thoroughly dominant performance. The hometown favorite sent Dawson to the canvas in three different rounds enroute to adding the 26th victory to his resume.
Following 14 months out of the ring due to major shoulder surgery, Ward made a triumphant return on November 16, 2013 with a dominating victory over previously undefeated contender Edwin Rodriguez at Citizen’s Bank Arena in Ontario, California. With boxing greats including Sugar Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson and his childhood idol Roy Jones, Jr. on hand, the super middleweight king handed the much larger Rodriguez his first professional defeat.
On January 9, 2015, it was announced that Ward had signed an exclusive promotional agreement with Roc Nation Sports, opening a new chapter in his boxing career.
On June 20, 2015 at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Ward made his highly anticipated return to the ring. In front of a packed, star-studded house, Ward scored a decisive ninth round technical knockout victory over Two-Time World Title Challenger Paul Smith in a fight that was televised live on BET in the network’s first ever boxing telecast.
In the fall of 2015, Ward signed a multi-fight deal with HBO and announced that he would be vacating his WBA Super Middleweight World Championship ahead of his move up in weight to the light heavyweight division.
On March 26, 2016, Ward made his highly publicized 175-pound debut against Cuba’s undefeated and IBF number one rated light heavyweight contender Sullivan Barrera in front of frenzied crowd at Oracle Arena that including luminaries such as Michael B. Jordan, Stephen Curry, Marshawn Lynch and Draymond Green. Ward expertly managed the fight and began to unravel his opponent in the third round when he caught Barrera with a counter left hook, dropping him to the canvas. The rest was a routine victory for Ward. who scored a dominating dispatch of Barrera by way of unanimous decision.
Ward’s goals don’t end inside the boxing ring as he is building a career as a boxing commentator through his work on HBO’s World Championship Boxing and Boxing After Dark telecasts. A true perfectionist, Ward has put tremendous time and effort in to his work behind the microphone, honing his skills on small shows early in his broadcasting career before moving up the ladder to ESPN and HBO. He also completed an internship with a Bay Area Comcast station in order to learn all the details, nuances and intricacies involved with live sporting event telecasts.
Ward continued his conquest of the light heavyweight division on August 6, 2016 at Oracle Arena, in Oakland, CA, taking on power-punching Colombian Alexander Brand in a 12-round contest. With the WBO Intercontinental title on the line, Ward once again emerged victorious by way of unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring the bout 120-108. Immediately following the decision, Ward announced in the ring that he will be taking on unified Light Heavyweight Champion Sergey Kovalev in the ultimate showdown for division supremacy and recognition as the best pound-for-pound fighter on November 19, presented live by HBO Pay-Per-View.
In 2015, Ward stepped in front of the camera for a completely different role, a part in the acclaimed New Line/Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer/Warner Bros. feature “Creed.” Fellow Bay Area natives, director Ryan Coogler and the film’s star Michael B. Jordan, reached out to Ward so that he could provide his expertise for the film. In addition to working in front of the camera with Ward, Jordan spent time at Ward’s home gym in preparation for his role as Apollo Creed’s son. A proud Bay Area product, being a consistent, positive presence in his community is of great importance to Ward. Throughout the past several years, he has visited numerous schools, prisons and youth facilities, including the Santa Clara County Juvenile Detention Center, William F. James Ranch and Camp Parks military installation, to share his inspirational success story. Ward doesn’t limit his outreach to the Bay Area, he’s also traveled to Capitol Hill to speak about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and motivated young boxers at numerous USA Boxing events across the country. Ward is a loving husband to his wife and high school sweetheart Tiffiney and a proud father of their sons Andre, Jr., Malachi and Micah and their daughter Amira. A devout Christian, he incorporates his faith into every aspect of his life and is a strong role model to his fans around the world. He and his family reside in San Ramon, California, just outside of Oakland.

BOXER: MAURICE HOOKER NICKNAME: MIGHTY MO DIVISION: JUNIOR WELTERWEIGHT AGE: 27 DATE OF BIRTH: AUGUST 7, 1989 HEIGHT: 5’11’’ STANCE: ORTHODOX BORN: OAK CLIFF, TEXAS LIVES: DALLAS, TEXAS RECORD: 21-0-2 (16 KOs) Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker was born and raised in Oak Cliff, Texas, a rough suburb of Dallas. At the age of thirteen, Hooker started boxing as a means to better defend himself on the streets of his neighborhood. After bouncing around a string of gyms, he found himself a home at Maple Avenue Boxing Gym by way of an outreach program for at-risk youths. His natural talent was soon noticed resulting in him competing as an amateur, during which time he participated in over 100 fights, compiling a record of 97 wins and only 7 losses, with 67 victories coming by way of knockout. Hooker turned professional on April 29, 2011, taking on the vastly more experienced Tyrone Chatman (7-1, 5 KOs) at the Orpheum Theater in St. Louis. After four rounds, the judges saw the fight 40-36, 37-39 and 38-38, making the fight a split draw. Undeterred, in his next fight on June 24, 2014, Hooker scored his first professional win, knocking out Wilbert Mitchell (Pro Debut) in the first round at the Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas. Eleven wins (eight by knockout) later, he took on undefeated Abel Ramos (8-0, 4 KOs) on January 17, 2014 in a bout that was featured on ShoBox from the Cook Convention Center in Memphis. After eight close, hard-fought rounds, the judges saw the fight a draw by the scores of 77-75, 76-76 and 76-76. Hooker followed the draw with a six-round unanimous decision win over Adrian Rodriguez Garza (8-2, 6 KOs) on April 26 at Fitzgerald’s Casino and Hotel in Tunica, Mississippi. Four consecutive knockout victories would follow before he took on fellow undefeated prospect Eduardo Galindo (10-0-1, 7 KOs) on June 26, 2015 at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas for the vacant NABO Junior Welterweight Championship. “Mighty Mo” did not disappoint his legion of hometown fans who saw him capture the title with a sixth round technical knockout victory. In his most recent outing on October 17, Hooker successfully defended his title at Madison Square Garden in New York City against his toughest opponent to date in Ghislain Maduma (17-1, 11 KOs). The 10-round decision win came on the undercard of Gennady Golovkin vs. David Lemieux and was featured on the event’s “freeview” as well as streamed online around the world. In December 2015, Roc Nation Sports announced that it had signed Hooker to an exclusive promotional agreement.
“Mighty Mo” made his debut under the Roc Nation Sports banner on the undercard of Andre Ward vs. Sullivan Barrera, this past March at Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA, where he annihilated opponent Wilfrido “La Roca” Buelvas of Columbia in the first round of a 10-round junior welterweight bout by way of technical knockout. Hooker would ignite Oracle Arena once again on August 6, 2016 as the co-feature on the Andre Ward vs. Alexander Brand card in a 10-round NABO Junior Welterweight Title clash against Tyrone Barnett of Washington D.C. The Texas wasted no time, outmatching his opponent with a flurry of shots and punches, before scoring a technical knockout at the 2:17 mark of the opening round.

RECORD: (33-2-1, 21 KOs) Darleys Perez is a celebrated Colombian boxer hailing from San Pedro de Uraba.

At the age of 29, Oleksandr – his friends call him Alex – is a two-year pro. Before his debut, he was an
elite international amateur representing Ukraine and won the 2012 Olympic bronze medal at light heavyweight. His teammates on the powerhouse Ukrainian Olympic team were featherweight gold medalist Vasyl Lomachenko – who has become his close friend – heavyweight gold medalist Oleksandr Usyk, light welterweight silver medalist Denys Berinchyk, and welterweight bronze medalist Taras Shelestyuk.
He was also 9-0 with 3 knockouts in World Series of Boxing fights over the last 1 ½ years of his amateur career.
As a professional, he is a stablemate of Lomachenko and Sergey Kovalev. All three are managed by Egis Klimas.
In his last fight on July 23 in Las Vegas, he won by sixth-round TKO against Tommy Karpency. After the fight, ESPN.com's Dan Rafael reported from ringside [excerpts]: Blue chip light heavyweight
prospect Oleksandr Gvozdyk knocked out two-time world title challenger Tommy Karpency with a body shot in the sixth round….
Karpency, a southpaw, pulled a surprise in the opening round when he nailed Gvozdyk with a clean right hand he did not see and dropped him with 70 seconds left. Gvozdyk was hurt by the shot but cleared his head and finished the round without any issues.
Gvozdyk took control against the slower Karpency and opened a gash on the bridge of his nose in the fifth round.
In the sixth round, Gvozdyk damaged his eye and then followed with a right hand to the body that dropped him to a knee, where he took the full count from [the] referee at 2 minutes, 21 seconds. [End Rafael item]
Trainer Robert Garcia said, "I started training Alex when he turned pro. He's is a fighter with tremendous skills. I've worked with a lot of great fighters, and he's probably one of the most skilled fighters I've ever worked with. He's very patient, but when he lands he's got tremendous power. He also has that killer instinct once he hurts his opponent.
"He's very good friends with Vasyl Lomachenko. He goes to every training session that Lomachenko has, so he learns a lot from him, also. They're very good friends.
"He only has 10 fights. Within two or three more fights, I think he's ready for a world title fight. "He's that good." Oleksandr said, "I live in Oxnard, California, now and train at Robert Garcia Boxing Academy here.
Robert trains me with Marcos Contreras. "Lomachenko is my good friend. We were together on amateur team. I met him first, like, maybe 2004.
I start to be a friend since maybe only 2009 – when I start to be member of Olympic team, we start to be friends. We were on team together until Olympic Games, 2012, and then we were together one season of World Series of Boxing until 2013. After the series, we both signed with Top Rank.
"Right now, Lomachenko have training camp in Oxnard, always in the same gym, and I always join to him to train together. His father used to train me in amateur – he was not like, my official trainer, but he always was helping me and we always trained together. He helps me now in camp, too.
"I try to always stay in shape. I never stop training. When I rest, I try to do some like, morning warm-up, some little exercises, or ride bicycle. I try to do something always. That's why I can't tell you exactly how long I'm preparing for this fight.
"I was born in Soviet Union, where Alexander is common name. But in Ukrainian translation of Alexander, it's Oleksandr. It's pronounced like Alexander – everybody calls me Alex. In Ukraine, one half of people speak Ukrainian and one half, in eastern part, speak Russian. I am from eastern part and speak Russian when I'm in Ukraine. Officially, in my passport, I'm Oleksandr – with 'o' – but speaking, I'm Alexander. My last name is pronounced – the 'g' is not silent, but almost silent.
"My nickname is 'The Nail,' like the tool to join something, not like on the finger. The exact translation of my last name from Russian is 'nail.' Isaac Chilemba Nickname: Golden Boy
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 175 (Light Heavyweight)
Date of Birth: May 17, 1987 (29)
Hometown: Blantyre, Malawi
Residence: Johannesburg, South Africa
Record: 24-4-2 (10 KOs)
Isaac “Golden Boy” Chilemba has a Cinderella story which begins in one of the poorest counties in the world, Malawi. After the death of his mother, Isaac was left to care for his younger siblings so he moved to South Africa to pursue a career in boxing. His journey has taken him to the United Kingdom, Russia, Canada and the United States since making his professional debut in South Africa in 2005. After his debut Chilemba did not record a loss in nearly six years until he lost a decision to former WBC Light Heavyweight contender Tony Bellew in Bellew’s backyard.
In 2010, Chilemba defeated Michael Bolling in a lopsided unanimous decision to win the vacant IBO Super Middleweight title. After which he defeated Vikapita Meroro in 2011 to win the vacant WBC International Light Heavyweight title. In March of 2014, Chilemba easily outpointed former ranked light heavyweight contender Denis Grachev. In August of 2014, Chilemba scored a TKO victory over the hard-hitting Cory Cummings. The bout took place on the undercard of Sergey Kovalev’s successful title defense over Blake Caparello. Last March, Chilemba took on the highly regarded and former ranked light heavyweight contender Vasily Lepikhin. Chilemba earned a unanimous decision to win the vacant NABF Light Heavyweight Title after nearly shutting out the previously undefeated contender for the whole ten rounds.
Then in November 2015, Isaac faced Eleider Alvarez, in Alvarez’s home country, Canada, in an elimination bout to determine the mandatory challenger for the WBC Light Heavyweight Title, Chilemba lost a close majority decision that many believed could have gone his way.
In his most recent bout his travelled back into enemy territory to face WBO, WBA and IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion, Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev in Kovalev’s home country, Russia. In a hard-fought battle Chilemba took the champ the distance but ultimately lost via unanimous decision. Despite the loss, Chilemba’s stock still rose loss because he became only the second fighter since Bernard “The Alien” Hopkins in 2014 to go the full 12 rounds against Kovalev.
Chilemba is managed by Jodi Solomon. He is training for this fight in Florida with former world champion Roy Jones, Jr. and he is promoted by Main Events.

Curtis Stevens Nickname: The Cerebral Assassin
Height: 5’7”
Weight: Middleweight
Date of Birth: March 10, 1985 (31)
Hometown: Brownsville, Brooklyn, New York
Residence: Brownsville, Brooklyn, New York
Record: 28-5, 21 KOs
Curtis Stevens was an accomplished amateur who won the United States Amateur Light Heavyweight Championship in 2002. He made his pro debut in September of 2004 with a first round knockout win over Henry Dukes. In his first 12 months as a professional, he won his first eight professional bouts, with seven of those wins coming by way of knockout in the first and second rounds.
Stevens won the vacant NABF Middleweight title with an impressive first round knockout of former middleweight contender Elvin Ayala in early 2013. After a hard-fought loss against current WBC and IBF Middleweight Champion Gennady Golovkin in 2013, Stevens would bounce back just three months later making quick work of former ranked middleweight contender Patrick Majewski with a knockout win just 46 seconds into the very first round.
In 2014, Stevens came from behind to score a tenth round TKO victory over former amateur standout and current IBF #1 middleweight contender Tureano Johnson. 16 of Stevens’ 21 career knockouts have occurred in either the first or second round and his knockout-to-win ratio is an impressive 75% (21 of 25).
After coming up short in an IBF middleweight title eliminator bout against interim titleholder Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam, Curtis took a brief hiatus from boxing to appear on BKB where he faced former middleweight contender Gabriel Rosado. Their hard-fought seven-round battle ended in a draw but Stevens managed to drop Rosado in the fifth round.
In his most recent fight, Curtis stopped former undefeated Brazilian, Patrick Teixeira, in the second round to secure the WBC Continental Americas Middleweight Title on the HBO Pay-Per-Undercard of Canelo-Khan back in May. This will be Stevens’ second fight with world-renowned trainer, John David Jackson, who also trains current WBO, WBA and IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion and Main Events’ stablemate, Sergey Kovalev.

BOXER: DARMANI ROCK NICKNAME: ROCK SOLID DIVISION: HEAVYWEIGHT AGE: 20 DATE OF BIRTH: APRIL 17, 1996 HEIGHT: 6’5” STANCE: ORTHODOX BORN: PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA LIVES: PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA RECORD: 5-0 (4 KOs) At the age of twenty, Darmani Rock is already drawing comparisons to former heavyweight greats of the past. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Rock was brought to a local boxing ring by his father at age twelve after he lost a street fight to neighborhood bullies. Rock cites his father, Wayne “Wiz” McLeod, as his greatest inspiration. Rock has received high praise for his powerful jab and ambidexterity. Standing at 6’4”, he moves with an unparalleled lightness and speed for a fighter his size. Rock earned nation-wide accolades following a banner year in 2014 when he took home the USA Boxing Junior and Youth Open, Youth Continental and Youth World super heavyweight titles. During the 2014 Junior and Youth Open in Reno, Nevada, Rock shut out the 2013 National Youth Champion, John Luna, 3-0. This impressive performance was followed by another super heavyweight title at the Youth Continental Championships in March 2014 in Quito, Ecuador where he defeated Argentina’s Kervin Espinola 3-0. Rock then took home the gold medal at the prestigious World Youth Championships in Bulgaria in April 2014 by a 2-1 decision over Germany’s Peter Kadiru. Rock also took home the 2014 World Junior Amateur Championship and capped off 2014 by being named Philadelphia’s Amateur Boxer of the Year at the annual Briscoe Awards. His most noteworthy win, however, came in May 2015 when he beat Cam Awesome, a career amateur who has been called the next Chris Byrd, in Las Vegas for the National Golden Gloves title. Awesome, who touts a near-perfect record over the past eight years and three Golden Gloves titles of his own, is considered one of the toughest amateur boxers to beat in a three round bout. Rock also captured the 2015 U.S. National Amateur super heavyweight championship. He ended his amateur career as the number one rated super heavyweight in the United States (and the number five rated super heavyweight in the world) going 19-5 in national tournaments.
In February 2016, Rock signed an exclusive promotional agreement with Roc Nation Sports.
Rock made his highly anticipated professional debut, after signing an exclusive promotional agreement with Roc Nation Sports, against Rockville, Maryland’s Carlos Black on May 13, 2016, as the co-feature of Roc Nation’s throne boxing card at the Armory in Washington, D.C. Following a devastating left hook, he brought his opponent to the floor with a right-left combination at the 1:54 mark of the first round. Without wasting any time, Rock followed his impressive debut by demolishing his next two opponents, Bobby Favors and Hassan Lee, both by way of knockout in the first round of the respective bouts.
Rock faced his toughest test to date in San Jose native Mike Kyle on the undercard of Andre Ward vs. Alexander Brand at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California on August 6, 2016. Going the distance in a four-round heavyweight showdown, Rock prevailed victoriously by way of unanimous decision with the final scores of 40-35, 39-36 and 39-36.
Rock returned to the ring for a tune-up fight against John Orr on October 22, 2016 in Winchester, Virginia. The rising heavyweight prospect scored a technical knockout victory in the third round ahead of announcing his November 19 Las Vegas premiere at T-Mobile Arena on the undercard of Kovalev-Ward “Pound For Pound” mega-fight.

NICKNAME: T-REX DIVISION: SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT AGE: 21 DATE OF BIRTH: March 17, 1995 HEIGHT: 5’ 10” STANCE: ORTHODOX BORN: FLINT, MICHIGAN LIVES: WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA RECORD: PRO DEBUT Claressa Shields is a talented 21-year-old boxer from Flint, Michigan. Inspired by the late boxing legend Muhammad Ali, Shields developed a passion for the sport and began boxing at the age of 11. Concluding an unparalleled amateur legacy, Shields was named 2016 Sports Woman of the Year and announced that she would be making her professional debut on the freeview broadcast of the year’s biggest boxing matchup, Kovalev-Ward, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Nov.

BOXER: TYLER MCCREARY NICKNAME: GOLDEN CHILD DIVISION: FEATHERWEIGHT AGE: 23 DATE OF BIRTH: APRIL 9, 1993 HEIGHT: 5’9’’ STANCE: ORTHODOX BORN: TOLEDO, OHIO LIVES: TOLEDO, OHIO RECORD: 11-0 (6 KOs) Hailing from Central City in Toledo Ohio, undefeated featherweight Tyler “The Golden Child” McCreary began boxing at the age of 10 to avoid the dangers of the streets and quickly found his true passion. As an amateur, McCreary amassed a record of 87-15 (46 KOs) and won the Title National Championship in 2009 and 2010. McCreary also captured a bronze medal at the Under-19 National Championships, was a two-time Toledo Golden Glove Champion and won Ohio State Junior Olympics Championship. McCreary, who trains at Glass City Boxing Gym, made his professional debut on August 15, 2014, scoring a first-round knockout win over Chris Tanner at the Grand Plaza Hotel in Toledo, Ohio. He followed that up with a second-round technical knockout victory over Anthony Molson in September 2014 at the Performance Arts Center in Dearborn Michigan. In his most recent bout on December 5, 2014, he stopped Antonio Gonzales in the third round at the Grand Plaza Hotel in Toledo. McCreary was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. As a young child, he battled asthma, but was still able to play baseball, basketball and football. When not in the gym, he likes spending time with his grandmother, playing video games (especially Call of Duty) and playing basketball. In February 2015, Roc Nation Sports announced that it had signed McCreary to an exclusive promotional agreement. On March 7, 2015, he scored a commanding first round knockout over Anthony Crowder at Woodward High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, and followed by another first round win by way of technical knockout over Donny Miller, a couple of months later, in front of a home town crowd at the Grand Plaza Hotel in Toledo, Ohio. McCreary would subsequently beat veteran fighters, John Willoughby, Manuel de los Reyes Herrera, and Stephon McIntyre to conclude the year with a record of 8-0 (5 KOs). Kicking off 2016, McCreary furthered his unbeaten streak with a win over Antoine Knight by way of technical in the third round at the historic Pendennis Club in Louisville, Kentucky, a venue which showcased a young Cassius Clay in the late 1950s. Next, as the co-feature at a sold out Lucas Country Recreation Center in the Toledo suburb of Maumee, Ohio, McCreary won a six-round unanimous
decision over Philadelphia’s Jules Blackwell. McCreary scored knockdowns in the second and third rounds and won by scores of 60-52, 60-52 and 59-53.
Before advancing his record to 11-0 (6 KOs) on August 20, 2016 at the Milwaukee Center, McCreary had to hunt down DeWayne Wisdom of Indianapolis, Indiana, whose strategy was to fight in spurts until the final bell. The featherweights went six rounds with McCreary cruising to a unanimous decision win by scores of 59-53 twice and 58-54.

A four-sport high school athlete who played baseball, football, ran track and wrestled, Fredrickson is a huge Ohio State Buckeyes fan and wants to eventually attend Ohio State to further pursue his education. He is also a “sneaker head” whose main passion is collecting the latest Air Jordans. In his time off from the ring, Fredrickson likes to play basketball and shop for clothes, hence the moniker “Pretty Boi.” In February 2015, Roc Nation Sports announced that it had signed Fredrickson to an exclusive promotional agreement. 2015 would prove to be another banner year for Frederickson, who advanced his pristine record to 11-0 (8 KOs). Frederickson drew unanimous decisions over both Eric Palmer at the Woodward High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Ramon Ellis at Foxwoods Resort, Mashantucket, Connecticut. The victories were followed by a two-round technical knockout of Juan Santiago at Oracle Arena in Oakland on the Andre Ward vs. Paul Smith undercard, a commanding one-round knockout of Marteze Logan at the Warren Valley Golf and Banquet Center in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, and a three-round technical knockout of Jesus Angulo at the Radisson Grand Ballroom in Rochester, New York. Frederickson began his 2016 campaign with a second-round stoppage of Lowell Brownfield at the historic
Pendennis Club in Louisville, Kentucky, a venue renowned for showcasing a young Cassius Clay in the late 1950s. He followed the performance with an eight-round unanimous decision win over Elvin Perez in the main event at a sold out Lucas Country Recreation Center in the Toledo suburb of Maumee, Ohio on May 21. Fredrickson won by the score of 79-71 on all three judges' scorecards in a grueling match that was fought mostly in close quarters. Advancing his record to 14-0 (9 KOs) on August 20 at the Milwaukee Center, Fredrickson entertained the crowd in a punishing eight-round slugfest with Puerto Rican veteran Ramesis Gil. The light-welterweights went toe-to-toe, with the taller Fredrickson outfighting Gil on the inside for final scores of 79-73, 79-73 and 77-75.
