Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Education Week at Kororo Public School 2020. Education Week  provides an opportunity for our school and community to reflect on the achievements, so far in 2020. Our school and community have faced unprecedented challenges in 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted our way of school life, changing the way we learn and socialise.   Despite the disruption, our staff, in partnership with parents and carers, have worked tirelessly to ensure that high quality teaching and learning has continued for all students at Kororo Public School. The theme for Education Week 2020 is “Learning Together”, which expresses and reinforces the role of our school as the cornerstone of the community. We all worked together to move learning online almost overnight to maintain the continuity of education during the COVID-19 restrictions. The theme ‘Learning Together’, is about celebrating our partnerships between students, teachers, parents and the community. I would like to thank all staff for being creative in how we can celebrate together during COVID-19 restrictions. You can share our students’ excitement with the video and on our Facebook page. Our staff and students have achieved many great things in Semester 1 2020 and I would like to congratulate every student at Kororo Public School for their efforts and achievements academically and socially. Education Week is an annual state-wide celebration of Public Education, which has been held for more than 50 years. This year’s events will run from Monday, 3rd August to Friday 7th August, with a focus on opportunities to celebrate virtually.   As a school we build and develop skills our students need in order to have and express a voice during their educational journey and as an engaged global citizen. Having a voice opens up a conversation for clarity, enquiry and also explores possibility. Education Week is all about acknowledging and celebrating the richness and diversity of our school – the students, the

community and the staff. I would like to acknowledge and applaud all staff in their efforts to ensure our students are

known, valued and cared for. Thank you for the commitment and passion you share with our students in your school on a

daily basis.

In NSW schools every student, every teacher, every leader and every school is on a journey of learning – learning how to

do things better than we have done them before, learning how to ensure that every student reaches their potential,

learning to be the very best version of ourselves that we can possibly be and learning to be leaders in our talents and

strengths.

At Kororo Public School we believe there is a “Leader in us all”. We are a seven habit school and awards for Education

Week focus on the Habits and recognise students who have used the approach to being effective in attaining their

learning and personal goals.

I’m sure you will enjoy Kororo Public School’s Education Week activities on Skoolbag and Facebook. Every day we have

been posting events and/or work samples for you to join in, and celebrate our

learning together.

Our playground is getting an upgrade to provide a safe playing space for our

students. The students and staff have taken the opportunity to discuss and observe

the development of the playground.

Our Professional Learning this Term is focusing on Number Sense.

The whole school is focusing on making learning in numeracy,

engaging and fun.

The office ladies are eager to lean more about Number Sense and

what they can learn and what our students can achieve.
