Dear Parents, As we approach the end of the school year, our teaching staff will be undertaking the difficult process around preliminary class placements for the 2018 school year. The process takes considered thought and discussion as we work to make the best decisions for each child in the school. We do have a published enrolment and class placement policy which assists in decision making. As part of this policy the common understandings around placement in composite classes is defined. The school makes every effort to avoid students being in composite classes for two consecutive school years due to the fact that most parents do not prefer this type of class organisation. In reality, the range of student needs and abilities in a straight class can actually be equally as diverse as in the mixed grade class. Unless there is a specific and individual placement reason, the school also avoids students being with the same teacher for two years running. These two aspects combined with teachers moving grades add to the complexity of the puzzle in trying, to the best of our ability, to place 680 students across the classes. With eight school days until the end of the 2017 school year, please make sure that your calendar is up to date as we don’t want anyone missing out on an event or celebration. Enjoy your week. I’m sincerely hoping that I’m not the only one yet to get into the Christmas shopping mode all ideas for the latest gift ideas would be gratefully received! DEPUTY’S REPORT

Hello Everyone, Wow! What a busy time it is, as we come to the end of our 2017 Kororo School Year! Last night our Year 6 students dressed very smartly and celebrated the end of their Kororo Public School learning journey with their fellow students, parents and staff. The Year 6 farewell was held at Aanuka, where students enjoyed a lovely meal, dancing, viewing movies and photos of their past learning experiences at Kororo Public School and using a photo booth! At the end of the celebration each student received a Year 6 Completion Certificate and the School Captains cut the cake. Mrs Mackay congratulated the students on their success as students at Kororo Public School and gave them great advice to continue to believe in themselves, to build friendships, make good choices and to do their very best. A big thank you to Miss O’Shea, Year 6 teachers and the team of Year 6 parents who assisted with the organisation to make the night very special for our students. Congratulations to our Year 6 of 2017 for completing Year 6. We all wish you luck in the next part of your learning journey to prepare for a very happy and successful future. Yesterday our Year 6 students experienced a day at their future local high school. Congratulations to Breah F for being recognised for her excellence in Hockey at the PSSA North Coast Awards. She also represented the North Coast region in Cross country, swimming, athletics and football this year. Last week 6NP were part of a film production to explain and model how modern technology can enhance learning in the classroom, especially for students with special needs. The film crew arrived and Mrs Mackay, Mr Portelli, Mrs Turnbull (Specialist Teacher Vision) and 6NP were interviewed and/or filmed. Filming included shots in the playground and the classroom. We are looking forward to viewing the end product that will be a resource to assist other schools integrate technology into school curriculum so many more students can gain access to learning tools to enhance their learning. Well done 6NP! Enjoy the photos of KM experiencing coding with Bev Babbage our Computer Consultant who is working with Mrs Muma and KM to explore coding in their classroom.

PRESENTATION DAY AWARDS After the students have received their award certificates for Presentation Day on Tuesday, we will speak to each student and ask what would they like in the way of a prize voucher. Their choices will be either a gift voucher from Rebel Sports or from the Book Warehouse. The value depending on the award they have won is $20 for a Class Award, $40 for a High Achievement Award i.e. Citizenship Award and $70 for the Dux and Sportsperson of the Year Award.

To the wonderful parents who assisted with making the decorations and those who helped decorate the

room for our Year 6 Farewell. Your support was greatly

appreciated.
