Korea's First Step To

A New World

When you look at modern day Korea and compare it to it's roots, Korea has made much

progress over the past many centuries. Since the earliest times dating back in Korean history and myths

on how a small peninsula, becomes one of the greatest nations overtime, the birth of Korea lies within

Silla. One dynasty was able to unify and conquer the land that we know as of today. The Silla dynasty

was one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea which last from 57 B.C to 935 A.D. The Silla dynasty is one

of the longest reigning kingdoms in all of Asian history. Over the near 1000 year rule, under Silla's

kingdom, there were many progress and achievements which makes it the most significant time period

in Korean history. One major reason why the Silla dynasty is significant is because during that time,

they were able to unify Korea as a whole nation. Another factor to Silla's success is due to the social

structure called kolp'um, which lasted out through many other Korean dynasties. The final aspect of the

Silla dynasty that makes it one of the most significant parts in Korean history is the art, architectural,

music, and literature. Korea has come a far way with all the changed over the past centuries but it

wouldn't be the same without the founders of a beautiful nation.

The Silla kingdom existed during the Three Kingdoms Of Korea and last for nearly 1000 years

and over that time Silla was able to unify Korea. In the early Silla period, the leaders were Park, Seok,

and Kim who shared the ruling power. Due to the emergence of a centralized monarchy that later King

Naemul of the Kim clan established a centralized state. As a result, the later King Beopheung (514-540)

was able to create a powerful army to combat and defeat the Goguryeo kingdom and also protect the

Baekje kingdom. In doing so, the Baekje was fond of the Silla kingdom therefore they help each other.

In 668, King Munmu of Silla was able to conquer both Baekje and Goguyeo. The Silla dynasty was

the first to bring unification to Korea and the legacy continues today.
