PRODUCT STORY

When Danish designer Henning Koppel created his first watches in 1978, he undoubtedly knew that he had created something beautiful. However, he probably did not know that his watch design with the discreet dot hour markers would today be considered a horological icon.

The 2012 collection introduces the Slim Line models with a slender case design, a timeless black, white or silver dial and golden hands. Fitted with a high quality strap with a discreet pin buckle, the new Koppel Slim Line offers a case diameter of 32 or 38 millimetres and a slender case that is thinner than the new Koppel Gent Chronograph and Dual Time. Certainly the perfect watch for any shirt cuff and a cool timepiece for business as well as pleasure.

Henning Koppel (1918-1981) has been described as a distinguishing exponent of the development of Danish design since the mid-fifties. He was, like Georg Jensen himself, originally educated as a sculptor, but made his mark very strongly as a designer. His work is characteristic for its understated, organic fluid expression. Many of Henning Koppel’s iconic works are found in Georg Jensen’s Hollowware range with Fish Tray no. 1026 and Pitcher no. 992 recognised as design icons of the last 100 years.

AFTER-SALES SERVICE

Battery maintenanceAs a general rule the battery should be changed every 2 years. Every time the battery is changed, the gasket of the case back should be changed and the watch should be tested for the 3 ATM water resistance. This applies especially for very humid and hot climates.

Strap maintenanceThe strap should be replaced (at the customer’s expense) when it is worn out. Time to replace it will be easily noticed when the colour fades or the strap gets a dirty appearance.In order to preserve the condition of the strap as long as possible it is recommended to:– avoid contact with water and dampness to prevent discoloration and deformation.– avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight to prevent the colour from fading.– leather is permeable, therefore avoid contact with greasy substances and cosmetic products.If the strap needs cleaning, it should be wiped carefully with a clean cloth moistened with very mild soapy water. The strap should then be left to dry naturally at room temperature before wear.

Life expectancy of leather is limited in time due to sweat, wear, and tear, however, a leather strap should last for a period of 6-12 months without alteration of its aesthetic look.

The watch 421 is equipped with a size Small strap and the watch 418 is equipped with a size Large strap. The following standard spare straps are available:
