INTRODUCTIONTaketheroleofthewaywardPeterPan,thenotoriouscaptainJamesHook,andmanymorewhileyouexploretheever-changingisland.Yourchoiceswillguideyouthroughdifferentstorylines,fromtheseductivemerfolkinthelagoon,totheBravesinthemountainsandalltheothersecretstheislandhastooffer.Gainalliesanditems,unlocknewabilities,interactwithlocationsandcharactersandgainexperienceduringmultipleadventures.Aseverybody'sNeverlandisdifferent,everygamewillbeanewexperience,withnewpossibilitiesandchallengestoface.Althoughtherewillbeawinnerattheendofthegame,theunfoldingofthestoriesontheimmersiveislandofNeverlandarekey.GameoverviewThegameisplayedinturns.Eachturnaplayerhas3actionstomoveandinteract.PlayersexploretheislandofNeverlandwhileinteractingwithstories,happenings,othercharactersandspeciallocations.Aseverychapterofeveryplayerposesmultipleoutcomes,youradventuresonNeverlandwillbedifferenteverytimeyouplay.Playerscanearnadventurepointstoleveluptheircharacter.Thegameendswhenthesidequestdeckrunsoutorwhenallplayersfinishtheirstories.Theplayerwiththemostadventurepointswinsthegame.Componentlist

YourAdventureAdventuresarenarratedthroughstorycards,happenings,andsidequestsofyourchoice.Thegameisplayedinturns.Everyturnaplayerhas3actions.Thestoriesareoneofthemostimportantpartsofthegame.Yourcharacter’smainstoryisnarratedthroughadeckofcards.Thedeckconsistsofseveralchapterswithdifferentstorylines.Dependingonthechoicesoftheplayer,thestorywillposedifferentavailableoptions,testsandoutcomes(seePlayingyourturn).Astorycanbeplayedmultipletimes.Storiescanbecooperativeorcompetitive.Atthestartofthegame,playersdecidewhethertheywanttoplayonecooperativestoryorseparatecompetitivestories.Thesamesetofrulesisusedforbothmodes.Wheneverastoryiscompleted,endedorfailedputthetop4sidequestcardsinthediscardpile.Whenthishappens,theplayerthestorybelongedtocanstillplay.Theycan,however,notpursuetheirstoryanylonger,althoughsomestorieshaveanepiloguechapter.Besidesyourcharacters’mainstory,numerousotherthingsaregoingoninNeverland.SideQuestcardsandHappeningsposesmalleradventuresornewspeciallocations,whichcangainyouitemsoradventurepoints(seeSideQuestDeckandHappenings).ThroughoutastoryEventsmaycomeintoplay.Eventcardsareputontherightsideofthegameboard.Theyaretriggeredbythecolorsandsymbolsonthesidequestcards.ForanexplanationseeEvents.LevelingupWheneveryoureachanumberontheadventurepointtrackersurroundedbystarsyou’vegainedenoughexperiencetoimproveyourcharacter.Todothis,chooseoneofthe4availablelevelupsandputthecorrespondingtokenonyourcharacterboard

- Allplayerscanchoosetoupgradea4-sideddietoa6-sideddieinonechosenskill(e.g.Strength).Fromthatmomentonyourollwitha6-sideddieinsteadofa4-sideddie.

- Thesecondgenericupgradeisarerollinachosenskill(e.g.Cleverness).Wheneveryourolladiewiththatskill,youmaychoosetorerollthedie.Youmustkeepthesecondresult.

- Inaddition,allplayershave2characterspecificabilitiestochoosefrom,asexplainedontheirplayerboards.

Eachlevelupcanbechosenonlyonce,butyoumaychoosetoupgradeyourdieandgainarerollinthesameskill.EndingandwinningthegameThegameendsassoonasthesidequestdeckrunsoutandnonewcardcanberevealedORwhenallplayershavefinished(completed,endedorfailed)theirstory.Someitemsorothercomponentsrewardpointsattheendofthegame.Theplayer(s)withthemostadventurepointswin(s)thegame.Cooperativestoriesmayhaveotherwinconditions.Althoughtherewillbeawinner,theunfoldingofthestoriesiskey!

FactionsEverycharacterinNeverlandbelongstooneofthe6factionsasshownontheircharacterboard:

Acharactercannotchallengeacharacterfromthesamefaction,i.e.JamesHookcannotchallengeanotherpiratecharacter(e.g.Smeeoranindependentpirate).FactionHouseholdsFactionsmayhave1ormorehouseholds.You’llfindthelogoofafactionhouseholdonthelocationtokensandsomeofthespeciallocationsinthehappeningsdeck.Ifyoutrack(seeplayingyourturn)fortheshownfactionononeoftheselocationsyou’llgetanautomaticsuccess.Youcannotchallengeacharacterthatisonalocationcorrespondingwithitsfaction,i.e.SmeeonthePirateIsles.

GameBoardThegameboardfeaturesamapofNeverland(1),theadventurepointtracker(2)slotsforthesidequestdeck(3),thegenericitemdeck(4),thehappeningsdeck(5),andslotsforspeciallocations(6)andevents(7).

MAPThemapofNeverland(1)showsdifferentareasdividedbylines(borders).Thelinescorrespondwiththe6differentterraintypes:forest,mountain,swamp,beach,seaandriver.Playersmaymoveacrossdashedlines(passableborders),howeversomepassageshaveborderrestrictionsasshownbyastraightlineorarrows.Bordersareblockedbystraightlines(blockedborders),representingimpassableterrainlikeasteepcliff.Somebordersfeaturestrongcurrentsoramaze,showingarrows(one-wayborders)inwhichdirectionmovementispossible.Ifaplayerentersaswamptheylose1health.Movingoutofanareawithwater(seaandriver)ismoredifficultandcosts2movementpoints(asexplainedfurtherbelow).IfacharacterisstandingonalocationwiththeJollyRoger,thecharactermaymovealongwiththeJollyRoger.ADVENTUREPOINTTRACKERTheadventurepointtracker(2)showsthenumberofadventurepointsperplayer.Adventurepointsarerepresentedbyanacornwithanumber(theamountofpoints).Whenevertheadventurepointmarkerofaplayerisputonorpassesanumber

GENERICITEMDECKThisdeckconsistsofallgenericitems(4).Agenericitemisplacedonitscorrespondingitemslotonyourcharacterboard(seeItemsabove).HAPPENINGSHappeningcards(5)canberevealedbymoving,searchingortracking.Theyarereadbytheplayertoyourright.Thehappeningcardsaredividedbyatop,middleandbottomsection.Thetopsectionshowsaterraintype(usedtoshowwhenthishappeningoccurs),factiontype(usedtofindafaction)andoccasionallyoneormoreitemsymbols(usedforsearchingitems).Ifacombinationoftheterraintypesbelowisrevealed,thehappeningtriggersonanyofthetworepresentedterraintypes.

Themiddlesectionexplainsthehappeningandcomesinthreevariants:encounters,speciallocationsandtasks.● Encountersareone-cardadventuresthatofferdifferentwaystohandlethem.

Someoptionsareonlyavailabletoaspecificfaction,asshownbythefactionsymbol.Theplayertotherightreadsallavailableoptions,thusexcludingnotmatchingfactionspecificoptions.

OnthebottomsectionmosthappeningcardsshowaspecificareaonNeverland(usedtoputgamecomponentsonrandomlocations).Wheneveryou’reaskedtoputsomethingonalocation(beach,forest,mountain,river,sea,swamp),revealcardsfromtheHappeningdeckuntilyourevealacorrespondinglocationofthattype.EVENTSMostevents(7)areputintoplaythroughstories.Theeventcardexplainshowtheeventissetup,triggeredandtheeffect.Mosteventsaretriggeredviathesidequestdeck.Intheexampleofthefire,thecardisactivated(triggered)wheneveranorange(TigerLily’s)SideQuestcardisrevealed.SomeEventsaretriggeredbyasymbolinthelowerleftcornerofaSideQuestcard.Crocodile:atthestartofthegameyoumaychoosetoplaywiththe

PlayingYourTurnThegameisplayedinturnsinaclockwiseorder.Everyturnconsistsofanupkeepandanadventurephase.UpkeepphaseTheactiveplayerdrawsacardfromthesidequestdeckandplacesitonthefirstspotonthetracker.

o Wheneveracardisplacedonthetrackeritpushestheothercardstowardstheend.Onceacardreachesthefourthspot(discardpile),putitfacedown.

o Whenacardisplacedonthefirstspot,notethecolorandsymbol.Thesecolorsandsymbolscorrespondwitheffectsonevents,locationsandothercomponents.Theseeffectsaretriggeredwheneverthecorrectcolor(andpossiblysymbol)onasidequestcomesup.

o Theactiveplayermaytakeuptoonenewsidequestcardandputitontheircharacterboard.Ifthatplayeralreadyhasasidequestcard,exchangetheoldcardforthenewone.

MOVEThePCorNPCgainsmovementpointsequaltotheirspeedskillplustherollofadie.Playersmayspendmovementpointsinbetweenactions,butnotinbetweenPC’sandNPC’s.Attheendoftheturnanyexcessmovementpointsarelost.Tomovefromonelocationtoanotheracrossaborder,playersneedtospend1movementpoint.Iftheymoveoutofanareawithwater(seaandriver)theyneedtospend2movementpoints,insteadof1.Whenaplayermovesintoaswamp,theylose1health.Adjustthehealthtrackeraccordingly.WhenaPCmoves,theplayertotherightoftheactiveplayerdrawsthetophappeningcard.IfatanytimeduringthePC’sturnaterraintypeonthetopsectionofthehappeningcardcorrespondswiththeterraintypethePCmovedto,theHappeningcardisactivated.Theplayertotherightimmediatelynotifiestheactiveplayerandstopstheirmovement.Next,oneofthetwofollowingoptionshappens:● ifthePChadtofindafaction,checkthetopsectionoftheHappeningcardtosee

ThePCmaycontinuetheirturnafterwards,unlesstheHappeningcardtellsyouotherwise.SomecardsincludethekeywordBorderless.Ifyouhave“borderless”youmaymove(fly)withoutanyborderrestrictions,suchaswaterandborders(seeMaps).INTERACTPC’sandNPC’scaninteractwithspeciallocations,NPC’sandothers.Howtointeractisexplainedonthecorrespondingcards.Mostnotablytheycaninteractwithstorymarkers.Thereare2kindsofstorymarkers,correspondingwiththecharacters’colors:Mainstorymarkers Sidestorymarkers

PC’smayinteractwithalloftheirownmarkers,andotherplayers’sidestorymarkers.NPC’smayonlyinteractwithsidestorymarkers.Amarkerrepresentsachapter.Thedeckconsistsofseveralchapterswithdifferentstorylines.Therefore,duringonegameyouwillneverreadallthechaptersinthedeckandcanreplaythestory.

Amarkercorrespondswithanumberorromannumeralinthestorydeck.Ifyouinteractwitharedmarker(captainJamesHook)you’llfindthecorrectchapterinthestorydeckofcaptainJamesHook.Achapterstartsonacardwithalanyard.Theoptionsareshownatthebottomofthecards.Onthebacksideofthecards,andpossiblyothercards,therewardsandresultsareshown(seebelow).CHAPTERSThefirstcardandchapterofyourstoryistheintroductioncard.Thiscardmayaddextracharactersorlocationstotheisland.Italsoexplainsthebackgroundofthestory.Aftereverybodyreadthesetupcard,thegamestarts.Thenextchaptersofyourstoryarenumberedandworksimilartotheintroduction.Whenyoureadastorycard,makesuretoreaditoutloudsoallplayerscanenjoyyourstory(andchoices!).Atthebottomofthecardyou’llfindtwoormoreoptionstochoosefrom.Dependingonyourchoicesyou’llreaddifferentchaptersandcreateadifferentstory.

Afteryouchooseoneoftheoptions,remembertheletterandflipthecardaround.Dependingonyourchoiceyoureadthetoporbottomhalfofthiscardoroneofthenextcards.Forexample,ifyouchose“A:StayonBlackRockstoseewherethey’regoing.”youflipthecardaroundandreadthetop(Asection)ofthecard.Ifyouchose“B:Headdownthehillsoyoucanfollowthem.”,youflipthecardaroundandreadthebottom(Bsection)ofthecard.

Sometimesyou’llneedtoperformaskillcheck.Similarlytochoosinganoption,theresult(SUCCESSorFAILURE)willguideyoutothenextcard.

Therewardsectiontellsyouhowmuchadventurepointsyougain.Addthosepointstotheadventurepointtrackerontheleftsideofthegameboard.Sometimesyou’llgainorlosealliesanditems.Nameditemsareitemsfromthespecificitemdeck.Thecolorofthebacksideofthespecificitemcardscorrespondwiththecolorofthestorycards.Theresultsectionshowswhatchaptercontinuesyourstory,asshownbythenumber.Putthetokenonthenextlocationandkeepthestorycardshowingthenumberofthenextchapterrevealed.Inourexamplethediamantisputonarandomforest.Alternatively,you’llneedtofindafactionorhavetocompleteanothergoalbeforeyou’reabletocontinuetothenextchapter.Tofindafactionyoucaneithertrackthem(seeTrackbelow)orhappentowalkintothem(Happeningcard).Whenyoureachthelocationandinteractwiththestorymarker,whenyousuccessfullyfindafactionorcompleteagoal,lookatthestillrevealedcardwhatchapterisnext(inourexample‘9’).Puttherevealedcardbackinthedeck,andlookupthenextchapterbygoingthroughyourstorydeckuntilyoureachthecorrectnumber.Youcancontinueyourstoryuntilyoufinishit,failitortimerunsout!Ifastoryisfinished(completed,endedorfailed)putthetop4sidequestcardsinthediscardpile.Dependingonhowyoufinishyourstoryyoumayhaveanepilogue.Whateverwayyourstoryfinishes,youmaycontinueplaying(challenging,interactingwithside-storymarkersorspeciallocations,etc).CHALLENGEAllcharacterscanchallengeothercharactersofadifferentfaction,aslongastheyareonthesamelocation.Acharactercannotbechallengedwhenit’sstandingonitshousehold.Chooseaskill(speed,strengthorcleverness)youwanttousetochallengeanothercharacter.Bothplayersperformthechosenskillcheck.Ifyousucceedyougain1adventurepoint.Theplayerwiththehighestresultchoosesoneoftheoptionsbelow:
