This week we changed our focus to the value of Effective Learners and the skill of stopping play when the whistle blows. This expectation follows our focus of behaviour on the oval. !Early next term, the PBL Team will undergo an evaluation called the School-wide Evaluation Tool (SET). The SET is designed to assess and evaluate the critical features of school-wide effective behaviour support across a school year. !The information gathered from the SET is used to assess features that are in place, determine annual goals, evaluate on-going efforts, design and revise procedures, compare year to year efforts in the area of school wide PBL implementation. Information is gathered through multiple sources including, a review of school records, direct observations and staff and student interviews. !PBL Lesson Focus Week 10 Oval and when whistle blows stop play and leave the oval Term 4 Week 1 No lesson due to excursions Week 2 Oval and report issues to teachers immediately Week 3 Oval and share space, use equipment correctly and have a plan for play Week 4 Oval and following teacher instructions Week 5 Collection of data for future lesson focus !

!Congratulations to all students who played in grand finals and received awards at presentation ceremonies the weekend. It's always so pleasing to see our students excelling both in and outside the school. Kooty kids can do anything! !Good luck to our students who are competing in the Years 5/6 T20 Cricket day this Thursday. Ms Cook is supervising our students and I’m sure they’ll have a blast, excuse the pun. Go Kooty! !Mrs Simpson and 2/3S are at it again learning new techniques for their artwork. Nicholas proudly displayed his wind sock and we had a wonderful conversation regarding the techniques used. He told me of the Estapol he used to create a shimmer effect. It was amazing and, unfortunately, the photo doesn't do it justice. Well done Mrs Simpson and 2/3S! !This week is the last day of our Come & Try Program for Kindergarten. It has been a wonderful success with lots of children enjoying their time at Kootingal Public School working with our Year 5 students, Mrs Lawrence and Mrs Chegwyn. !Next term, our Kindergarten Bright Stars Transition program commences. This program is designed for students intending to commence Kindergarten at Kootingal Public School. We are looking forward to meeting all impending Kindergarten students and starting the process of formally introducing them to Kootingal Public School. All days are advertised throughout long day care and pre-school centres and through our normal means of communication. !If you know of a family that has a child who may enrol in Kindergarten next year, please direct them to the school. We welcome parents and children to our school at any time to view our facilities and as a part of our transition program. As well, we would like to offer assistance in choosing a school and ensuring a sound start for each child. !Thank you to all families who participated in our Parent Teacher Interview process. It is always wonderful to see our families taking this opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher prior to formal report writing in Term 4. We value the input of our families in the educational process and it all both the school and family to be aware of emerging issues and achievements. !The Kootingal Public School P&C are conducting a Red Food Day the last day of school, Friday 22nd September. Orders are due to the front office with correct money by Wednesday 20th September. Further items are available for sale during 1st break. !Good luck to our students in years 3 and 4 who are competing in the Zone Tennis Hot Shots tournament today. This is a regional tournament with the winning team competing in Sydney for the Todd Woodbridge Cup. Out students completed Hot Shots rotations during their Friday sport time, with additional practice sessions conducted during breaks. Last year our team placed 6th in Sydney. Thank you Mrs Simpson and go Kooty!

!This is a reminder to all families of students in Year 5. Applications for nomination as a candidate in the 2017 School Captains process close Friday 13th October. Previously, I wrote to all parents of Year 5 students outlining the timeline for this process. It is important to note that this is an election for School Captains and the Vice Captains only. The election of the Student Representative Council (SRC) members will occur in 2018. !Lastly, I would like to wish all students and families the safest of holiday breaks. We look forward to seeing you all bright and bubbly ready for Term 4. !
