We have been reading 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?' and doing lots of art and craft activities to support early reading. We thank Mrs Perrie for bringing in some fabulous tadpoles as part of her science programme. We are enjoying watching them swim around and seeing how much they are growing every day. We are also lucky to have Mrs Holly Bowyer in our class from Edith Cowan University who is completing her final prac with Kindy A and B.

Kookaburra Chronicles

Kindy A have had a wonderful and exciting start to Term 4

In Literacy we have been busy learning our final sounds of the alphabet, making goop and going on sensory letter hunts through rainbow rice. We have been reading 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?' and doing lots of art and craft activities to support early reading.

In Numeracy we are getting very clever and are continuing to read, write and say our numbers to 20 and beyond!

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Camp

The Year 6 students along with Mr Knox, Miss Booker and Mrs

Kemp are on camp this week in Busselton. This event has many

positive outcomes for our students and for many is a very

significant highlight of Primary School. We wish them well on

camp and look forward to their stories on return.

Open Board Meeting

Wednesday 7 November sees the yearly Open Board Meeting. All members of the school community are

invited to attend on this day as an observer to experience the operations of the Board. The meeting takes

place in the staff room and begins promptly at 3.15pm.

First Aid

At South Padbury we are always concerned with the health and well-being of all of our community and I

thank Mrs Gilchrist and Miss Bird for their specialised programs tailored for our classes in Health and

Protective Behaviours. To further enhance these programs, we will enjoy the expertise of the Red Cross

with some upcoming incursions, on general first aid skills and also importantly, as the weather continues

to warm, with Snake Bite treatment. Being sun smart is also an important concept for our children to learn

and I thank all parents for their ongoing support of ensuring your children have their hat at school for all

outdoor events.

Cycling to School

With the weather becoming more favourable, it is great to see the increase in the number of students

riding to school. It is not only a healthy pursuit, but a great way to start the day and also to lessen the

number of cars during pick up and drop off times. Thank you also to the many families who are utilising

the car park at the Padbury shops to further reduce the hazards for our children on entering and leaving

the school grounds.

Statements

Yr 2 – 6 Games Club

Following on from our successful Chess Club, the club has expanded to a new and improved Games

Club highlighting all available board games in the library. Playing Board Games is a great way to

improve reading and comprehension, counting and other maths skills, teamwork, social skills, puzzling

your brain and most of all just being fun! Each week the club captains are introducing a new game and

are then available to help younger children learn it and enjoy. Games Club is every Thursday and

Friday lunch and all children from Year 2 – 6 are welcome.

Fredderie, Owen and Mia

P&C News

Kookaburra Chronicles

Page 5

The P&C held its meeting last week, but unfortunately there weren't enough members in attendance to vote on a number of issues. Therefore, the Executive Committee will be holding a meeting on Thursday to address these issues.

Our last Disco for the year will be held on Friday 23 November. The Disco will follow the same format as our last disco and will include all students from Kindy to Year 6. More information will be sent home soon.

As the end of the year rapidly approaches, it is timely to remind all parents that the P&C will hold it's AGM early in the new year. The AGM is the meeting at which the new P&C Committee for 2019 will be voted in. All positions will be vacant and nominations for each role will be invited before the AGM. I encourage all parents to consider not only joining the P&C as a general member, but also to consider nominating for one of the Office Bearer roles. The P&C is an extremely important part of South Padbury Primary, and works hard to enhance the learning experience of every single student at this school. This year we have paid for every child to attend school incursions and subsidised the Edudance program, reducing costs to parents and ensuring that no child misses out on these fun activities. Our Mother's/Father's Day Stalls and our Discos are also much anticipated activities each year. Without the P&C, none of these activities would take place.

The role of President will definitely be vacant next year. I have been involved, in one way or another, in the P&C for the past 6 years. It's time for a break.

If anyone would like further information on any of the roles within the P&C, please contact me and I'll be happy to help. ([email protected])

Don't forget our newest hair and sports accessories fundraiser! http://bit.ly/SOUTHPADBURY

Our final meeting for the year will be held on 21 November at 7pm in the Staff room. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Thanks, Chantelle

If you do not intend for your child to continue at South Padbury for 2019 could you please let the front

office know. You can contact us via the Flexibuzz App, phone, in person or by email

[email protected] If you have a potential work transfer or possible house move, please

let us know so we are aware of this possibility.
