Kona Baptist Church December 2015 A Note Fr Past Dean "...Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning...." ~ James 1: 17(NKJV) We rush around so much at Christmas time trying to find the perfect gift for someone. It can be a very stressful time, and can take our focus off the real meaning of Christmas. Most of what we buy is only for a moment in time. There's no real lasting value, especially when buying for Kids! We may lose interest, we are soon finished with it, or kids toys get broken and clothing is outgrown. Every good and perfect gift comes from God the Father, and His gifts are eternal. He has given each of us 'gifts' to do His will. But the most important gift of all was the gift of His son - Jesus. May we be mindful of this gift the season. Blessings in Christ, Pastor Dean

Kona Baptist Church December 2015

A Note From Pastor Dean "...Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning...." ~ James 1: 17(NKJV)

We rush around so much at Christmas time trying to find the perfect gift for someone.

This month we will be collecting the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Your giving enables missionaries to be sent to make disciples and multiply churches amount unreached

peoples and places for the glory of God.

Who is Lottie? Lottie Moon ‒ the namesake of Southern Baptists’ international missions offering ‒ has become a legend. But in her time Lottie was anything but an untouchable hero. In fact, she was like today's missionaries. She labored tirelessly so her people group could know Jesus.

LOTTIE’S TEA CAKE RECIPEAs a way to earn the trust of the people, Lottie Moon made tea cakes for the children in her village in China. She would then be invited into homes where she could share the gospel with their mothers. The children began calling Lottie “the cookie lady.”Plain Tea Cake (As made by Lottie Moon)

• Three teacups of sugar• One teacup of butter• One teacup of sour milk• Four pints flour• Three eggs, well beaten• Half a teaspoon of soda• Flavor to taste, roll thin, bake in a quick oven.

Adapted recipe:• 2 cups flour• ½ cup butter• 1 heaping cup of sugar• 1 well-beaten egg• 1 tablespoon cream

Cream the butter and sugar. Add the egg and mix well. Add the flour and cream. Dust a board with flour. Roll the dough very thin. Cut cookies with a round cookie cutter. Place on a buttered or nonstick cookie sheet. Bake at 475 degrees for about 5 minutes.

Shut down about 30 minutes early as we ran out of foods. We were also blessed with a donation of slippahs, so we brought 4 of 24 bags to give to needed families. What a joy.

Kona Baptist Church on the evenings of Dec. 20 & 21.

We are hoping to show people why we celebrate Christmas. If you would like to help by donating

homemade cookies, helping sew costumes, etc., please
