THE STORY BEHIND THE KOMBI FROM KOMBI KEG HQ - This is how being observant pays off.

Whilst looking on the Internet for Kombi’s, Kombi Keg HQ came across a blue one in Yandina. While looking at that blue bus they saw on the ad, they noticed in the relection of the windscreen, a low light panel van with a large painted rainbow on its side. They contacted the owner and asked if he’d sell them the low light panel van that they had seen in the reflection of the blue bus. He was blown away that someone had made an offer on a car that was seen in a reflection. Reluctantly he warmed up to the idea of selling the Kombi and told them if they “came tomorrow” they could have it. Needless to say the Kombi HQ crew went straight to bed ready for a 4am road trip to QLD from NSW!

Hands down this is their favorite Kombi so far. Talk about character - his old girl has some stories to tell. The story goes that she was owned by a hippie who had a bed and a sewing machine in the back and he would travel from northern NSW to QLD making and selling leather jackets at the local markets. After figuring that he would probably sell more jackets in a colder climate he drove the old girl to Melbourne and lived there for five years making leather jackets and selling them at the St Kilda Markets. He returned back to QLD in the late 80’s and after that the Kombi was parked up in the garage until she was sold to Henry.

This is the oldest Kombi that Kombi Keg have launched so far and we cannot wait to give her a new start and return her to her former glory. With this in mind we have great pleasure to name the old girl ‘TinyDancer’ paying homage to the song Elton John and his writing partner Bernie Taupin wrote about Bernie’s wife, Maxine who was was the seamstress for the band.
