“Sri Krishnaaya Namaha”

HISTORY

A munificent donation of five hundred thousand rupees made tothe Shri Vallabhacharya Vidya Sabha, Madras, by the Philanthropic DwarakaDoss brothers, the late Shri Jumna Doss and the late Shri Amichand Dossenabled it to found the Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College,Madras, in June 1964. The phenomenal growth of this institutionprompted the Sabha to think loudly of expanding its service to educationat different levels. A Telugu businessman and great philanthropist, the lateShri Kola Perumal Chetty, came forward with a generous donation offour hundred thousand rupees including a 21-ground land adjoining thecollege, for starting a first grade English School with modern techniquesof teaching, blended perfectly with Hindu ethos and culture. The activeinvolvement of the Sabha and the munificence of Chettigaru togethertriggered the starting of Kola Perumal Chetty Vaishnav School on 3 July1972 with the blessings of His Holiness 108 Goswami Shri BrijratnalaljiMaharaj. That day the school made a humble beginning by admittingstudents from LKG to V standard. Handsome donations given periodicallyby Shri Kola Perumal Chetty totalled to more than a million rupees. Thisand the untiring efforts of the managing body resulted in a three storeybuilding within a year of its inception, paving way for the steady growthof the school over the years. In fact, the school came to be styled as KolaPerumal Chetty Vaishnav Senior Secondary School in 1978 with theopening of Plus Two, affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE), New Delhi. Spacious class rooms, good furniture, well equippedlaboratories, excellent playgrounds and other amenities have made thisinstitution enviable and most sought after by the parents and studentsalike.

The school imparts instruction in English medium. Tamil and Hindiare taught from std. I onwards and Sanskrit and French from std.VI.

Realizing the difficulties of the tiny tots to reach the school, ShriKola Perumal Chetty donated a school bus in 1974. Science and LibraryBlock was constructed in 1977 to accommodate the laboratories, workshops and the library. The top floor of the main building was built in

1979. To facilitate the smooth functioning of the school activities, an OpenAir Theatre was commissioned in 1982. The office functioning in the firstfloor of the new administrative block built in 1984 was shifted to theground floor in 2004 together with the Principal’s office and theCorrespondent’s room. The Principal’s room on the first floor wasconverted into Committee Meeting room. It was Shri Kola Perumal Chettywho was instrumental in starting a course in Computers in 1985. In1986 a spacious canteen was added to provide hygienic snacks and drinksto appease the palate of the pupils.

In 1994-95 a new building to house the book stall, canteen.Sanchayika Bank, NCC room, three class rooms and the Computer labwas built. In May 2002 a lift was installed. It was inaugurated during theTri-Decennial celebrations. A new school bus was bought in July 2002.Provision for rain water harvesting was made, bus and cycle sheds werebuilt and paver blocks laid round the compound.

In 2003 - 2004, the administrative office was shifted to the groundfloor and new air-conditioned rooms were provided. A spacious Computerlab and Maths lab were built on the second floor.

In 2005, the ADC Auditorium was rebuilt with two green rooms, oneclassroom and an audio-visual room. The staff room was extended andseparate cabin for each teacher was provided. An arch with the schoolname was built at the main entrance. The school prayer hall was extendedand air conditioned in May 2007. It provides a perfect ambience for dailyprayer. The school gained ISO 9001 : 2000 certification in April 2005. Itwas upgraded to ISO 9001 : 2008 in April 2009. In 2007, Smart ClassProgramme was introduced for all classes and Plasma T.V.s were installedin all classes. The Basket Ball court was relaid and two floors were addedto the Audio-Visual Block in the year 2008. A roof garden was set up onthe terrace of the computer block.

In 2009 the school Library and KG Block were renovated and airconditioners were provided.

As per the CBSE instructions, the Continuous and ComprehensiveEvaluation Scheme was implemented in the year 2010-2011 for classesI to X to provide holistic education.

In the year 2010 the Primary classes I - IV were renovated with falseceiling and tiled flooring. New furniture was provided. Light Roofing facilityopposite to the ADC auditorium was also constructed.

The Centenary Year Celebration (17.02.1911 - 17.02.2011) of ourFounder Chairman Late Shri Kola Perumal Chetty was organized in agrand manner on 17.02.2011.

In the year 2011 classes V to VIII were renovated with tiled flooring,false ceiling and new set of furniture. Two air conditioners were fixedin std.XII-B.

The highlight of the 2011 - 2012 was the two day project exhibition‘Green Nature’ with the theme - Perceive, Preserve and Protect theenvironment.

In the year 2012 classes IX-XI, Maths Lab, VCA room and Sanskritroom were renovated with false ceiling and tiled flooring.

A new E.B.Panel Board was installed on the ground floor in the year2013 as a safety measure for effective and proper power supply. Theparapet walls along the corridors of the first floor and the second floorwere fitted with new railings as an effective safety measure.

To combat the problem of water stagnation during the rainy seasonand to provide relief, new drainage water channels were constructedwith Gutters of Truss and down-taking pipe facility. The school alsointroduced Easy Educational Automation Software module.

In the year 2013 - 2014 std XII-B class room was renovated. Two airconditioners were installed each in std XII B class room and the prayer hall.

Additional rest rooms were constructed in the I floor (for girls) and inthe II floor (for boys).

Interactive Touch Smart Boards with Projectors were installed inClasses XI & XII and the KG block to make teaching - learning processmore effective and enriching.

The school purchased two buses, 29 seater - Eicher & 49 seater -Ashok Leyland to provide easy and safe transport to the young studentsliving at a distance from the school.

Fire alarms were installed in each floor as a safety measure.

The Kola Perumal Chetty Best Teacher Award was instituted in theacademic year 2013-14 to perpetuate the memory of the FounderChairman of the school late Shri Kola Perumal Chetty. The MaidenKola Perumal Chetty Best Teacher Award function was hosted on Saturday,29 March 2014.

The school introduced online registration for Pre KG in theacademic year 2014-2015 to make the admission process easy and effective.No application forms are issued in the school campus. Our website :www.kpcvs.co.in.

The infrastructure of the school was upgraded in the academic year2014-2015 to suit modern needs. As the strength increased, there wasneed for extra classrooms, therefore the following changes were made :

The committee meeting room was converted & renovated as XI Aclass room. The NCC room and book stall were converted into II C classroom. A part of the library was converted into book stall and NCCmaster shares space in the I floor Hindi room in the AV Block. The craftroom and UPS room in the first floor were renovated. A new computerlab was constructed in the second floor and the art room shared spacewith the Maths lab. New ACs were installed in XI A, XI B & XI C classrooms. ACs were also installed in X A & B rooms and II B & C rooms tocombat the fumes of the adjacent car service centre.

Additional washbasins were fixed behind the library and a new restroom was constructed there.

The Vallabhacharya Vidya Sabha donated a 12 seater, AC New ForceTraveller to facilitate travelling.

In the year 2015-2016 additional sections were added in std III(III C) and in std XII ( XII C).

All Plasma TVs were replaced with Interactive Touch Screen Boards.The school also purchased new furniture.

All classrooms are under the surveillance of CCTV Cameras as perthe Tamilnadu Govt. instructions.

The Laying of the Foundation Stone Ceremony of the New KG blockof the school was held on 9 March 2015. This project is a part of theGolden Jubilee Project of Shri Vallabhacharya Vidya Sabha.

The construction of the NEW Golden Jubilee Block Phase-I wascompleted in a record time. It comprises of 12 class rooms, 3 staff rooms,3 Language rooms, 11 toilets for students and 1 for the staff, a Prayer Hall,EB Panel Room and Lift facility.

The Golden Jubilee Block - Phase I was inaugurated on 22 October2015 by His Holiness Goswami 108 Dhrumil Kumarji Mahoday of Surat.

All the KG classes were shifted to the New Block on 21-12-2015.All the teachers were provided coats by the Management, thus usheringin uniformity and uniqueness. In the academic year 2016-2017 a newsection was added to each of the classes - Pre KG to std IV.

The school purchased new furniture (Dual Desk for students, tablesand chairs for teachers) to the tune of 13 lakhs. The school acquired 45new Airconditioners for installation in the new block phase II and classesIX A & B in the main building.

The Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Shree Vallabhacharya VidyaSabha was held in a grand manner at the Centenary Hall, MadrasUniversity on 23 July 2016. The chief guest was his Excellency Dr.K. Rosaiah- The Governor of Tamil Nadu. The Founder Patron of the V.V.Sabha, HisHoliness 108 Shree Goswami Shree Mathureshwarji Maharajshree andH.H. Goswami 108 Shree Drumil Kumarji Mahoday graced the occasion.

His Holiness 108 Shree Goswami Shree Mathureshwarji Maharajshreeunveiled the Golden Jubilee Plaque and inaugurated the ModernA.D.C. Auditorium and Golden Jubilee Block Phase - II on24-7-2016 in the school premises. A Solar Panel costing about 21 lakhs,was dedicated by Goswami 108 Drumil Kumarji Mahoday.

Stala Shuddi Samskrana Pooja was performed on 19.09.2016 in theschool premises. The consecration of Goddess Saraswathi and LordGanesha was performed on 5.10.2016 and Samprokshana (PranaPrathishta) of the Temple of Goddess Saraswathi was performed at theschool campus on 6th October 2016.

Classes I-IV shifted to the new block on 2 November 2016. Thenew building also houses the spacious and well furnished Principal’s roomand the Administrative office.

1. Intensive Academic Training : Academic training starts onthe very first day the school reopens. Slackness in studies andtruancy from class work will be taken to the notice of parents orguardian as and when warranted. The cooperation of the parents/guardian is solicited in correcting their erring wards. The parents/guardian are advised to keep in touch with the Principal once amonth. This collective effort of teachers, administrators and par-ents is what makes our school very special.

2. Library : Located in a spacious and imposing building, the libraryprovides open access to a large collection of books acquired overthe years. It has been remodelled with modern facilities - aseparate cabin for the librarian, wall cupboards with glass doors,marblex floor, news bulletin boards, reading room for the staffand colourful plastic chairs for the students. It is fullyairconditioned and provides perfect ambience for peaceful reading.The authorities encourage students to use the library to themaximum. The library is kept open after school hours and duringterm end holidays also.

3. Sports and Games : The school has Volley Ball and BadmintonCourts. The students are encouraged to play Table Tennis,Tennicoit, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi etc. Facilities for athletics are aplenty here. Drill and Physical Training are compulsory compo-nents of the curriculum. A new Basketball Court was constructedat a huge cost during the year 2001 and it was inaugurated in2002.

4. School Publications : The school publishes a calendar anddiary which gives all the information needed by the students andparents. The newsletter ‘Bal Brindavan’, highlights the schoolactivities. The annual school magazine ‘Brindavan’ carries articles bystudents and staff. From time to time souvenirs are published tocommemorate special / significant occasions of the school.

5. Gita Class : Bhagavad Gita classes are conducted for the studentsof std. V to XII every Thursday from 3.00 to 3.45 p.m. Studentshaving cent percent attendance receive a scholarship of .100/-and those having 99% attendance receive a scholarship of .50/-

6. Hindi Class : Hindi classes are conducted for training the studentsfor Dakshin Bharath Hindi Prachar Sabha Exams after school hours.

7. Prayer : The tone of the school is set by the Prayer whichcommences at 8.40 a.m. on all working days. An atmosphere ofserenity prevails as the students recite slokas in praise of LordKrishna. They invoke the blessings of Goddess Saraswathi andthe Gurus. Slokas from the Gita and verses from Thirukkural alsoform a part of the daily prayer. This is followed by meditation whichimproves their mental alertness.

8. Community Service : The students are encouraged to activelyparticipate in social and community work like Road Safety Patrol,Scouts & Guides, N.C.C., Cubs and Bulbuls. NCC (VIII & IX),RSP (XI), Guides (VI - IX), Scouts (VI & VII). Cubs & Bulbuls (III - V)classes are held four times per month to train students in rightsocial behaviour, discipline, citizen ship, etc.

9. Canteen : Students can buy hygienic eatables from the canteenduring the lunch break.

10. Accident Cover : A personal Accident Insurance Scheme is pro-vided by M/s. Tata AIG Insurance for all students. This scheme wasintroduced during the academic year 2004-2005. Students (I to XII)pay a premium of .150/- annually and become a member of thisscheme. This is obligatory.

11. Medical Facilities : The school runs a first aid cell. Annualmedical check-up, conducted by qualified doctors, is a must forevery student.

12. Parent Teacher Association : Class wise PTA meetings are heldmonthly. But its executive body meets more frequently todiscuss the issues connected with the school.

13. Alumni Association : The old students of the school arewelcome to visit the school and join the annual get together onJanuary 26. They have to get enrolled as life members on paymentof .100/

14. Kalasarovar : This Inter School Cultural Meet is biennial featureof the school. It is sponsored by well-wishers.

15. Summer Coaching Camp : Encouraged by the overwhelmingresponse and success of the Summer Coaching camp started inMay `93, the school has made it a regular feature. This twoweek course stresses on physical fitness and gives coaching ingames like Table Tennis, Badminton, Volleyball, Basketball, Cricket,Athletics, Chess, Carrom. Art and Craft classes are alsoconducted.

16. Shri Vallabh Cultural Academy : To promote and nurtureIndian art and culture and also to provide more opportunities todevelop their innate talents and to impress upon young minds thesignificance of Indian heritage, values and virtues, art and culture,the Shri Vallabh Cultural Academy of the school conducts classesfor the following disciplines - Vocal, Dance, Guitar, Violin, Veena,Mridangam, Tabla, Flute, Yoga and the Key Board.

Students of classes V to VIII attend any one of the abovedisciplines. The classes are conducted on Mondays andWednesdays from 2.20 p.m to 3.45 p.m.

17. Career Guidance : There is a Career Guidance cell which arrangeslectures by experts in different fields for the senior students.

20. Tour : Travel helps to broaden one’s outlook. To promote the all rounddevelopment of the students of std. IX to XII, tours to places ofhistorical, geographical, mythological and religious importance are arrangedevery year in lieu of their field trips. The Staff Council finalises the placesand schedule during the academic year. The cost of the tour is collected ininstalments with the term fees. Any student applying for T.C. in the middleof the academic year should pay the whole amount before clearance.

21. Indoor Games Hall : A spacious hall is provided for the studentsto practise indoor games like Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess etc.

DISCIPLINARY RULES

1. Students are strictly forbidden to loiter in the verandahs.2. Smoking, consuming drugs, littering, defacing the walls, ragging, use of

4. Consumption of non-vegetarian food in the campus is strictlyforbidden.

6. Slackness in attendance, habitual late coming, indifference to homework, disobedience and disrespect towards staff and such other of-fences entail dismissal from the school.

7. Electronic gadgets like mobile phones, Ipads, Ipods, Smart watches.Android Tablets and Xbox etc. should not be brought to school. Ifa student is found possessing any one of these gadgets, it will beconfiscated and returned only at the end of the academic year.

ATTENDANCE AND LEAVE RULES

1. Attendance is taken every session (morning and afternoon) by theclass teacher. It is obligatory on the part of the student to attend allthe periods prescribed for the day.

2. A student is required to attend the school on all the working days.If it becomes necessary to take leave, he/she has to submit a leaveletter to the class teacher before availing the leave. If the studentcannot submit the leave letter for genuine reasons before going on leave, he/she may do so on return to the school.

3. Students abstaining from school for more than three days have tosubmit an explanatory letter written by the parent / guardian.

4. Leave on medical grounds should be supported by a propermedical certificate.

5. The school monitors the student’s attendance periodically. Par-ents / Guardian are informed if their wards lag behind in atten-dance. They are requested to take corrective steps in such cases.

HOUSE SYSTEM

“Teach them young”, goes the adage. In order to develop leadershipqualities and shape their personalities, the students from std. I - XII aredivided into four houses. Raman, Shivaji, Tagore and Vivekananda, withhouse colours : green, blue, red and yellow. Each house guided by ableteachers, forms a cohesive group but vies with the others in winning lau-rels.

Each house, in turn, is assigned a week-long responsibility of con-ducting the morning assembly, preparation of news reports, talks on spiri-tual and general topics, pulling up late-comers and those that flout uni-form regulations, ensuring discipline, smooth movement of students totheir class rooms, checking furniture, maintenance of black boards, con-ducting school functions and overall supervision of any activity that isconnected with the school. Besides, a contemporary theme is also high-lighted every week through charts, posters, talks etc.

The competitive spirit among the houses is keen but healthy. Theperformance of each house is assessed and points are awarded. The besthouse gets the Rolling Shield.

ADMISSION

1. The school is co-educational, admitting both boys and girls to allstandards without consideration of caste, creed, community or so-cial status.

2. The students seeking admission can collect the registration form fromthe school office. Such forms, filled in by the parents/ guardians, mustbe submitted for registration together with the necessary certificatesbefore the due date.

ADMISSION (XI Standard)

1. Candidates seeking admission into std XI must have passed thestd X All India Secondary School Examination or Matriculation ofStatutory Universities or the SSC Examination of any State Board ofSecondary Education.

2. The candidates must have undergone 10 years of formal educationin an English Medium School to become eligible for admission.

3. Minimum age prescribed for admission to the std XI is15 years 6months as on first June of the year in which admission is sought.This may be relaxed in special cases by the Chairman, CBSE, NewDelhi.

4. Those seeking Science group must have secured 60% mark inScience and Maths and those seeking Commerce group must havesecured 50% besides opting for English as a core subject.

1. Fees will be collected twice a year.

2. After the final selection of candidates, the parents have to remitthe fee as per the fee challan and obtain the receipt for the same(only for new admissions) in the extension counter of KarurVysya Bank situated in the school campus.

3. A separate counter will be opened by Karur Vysya Bank in theschool campus during the below mentioned dates and the fee canbe paid in the school campus itself. The fee challan will be issuedafter the announcement of the results. This fee challan shouldbe preserved carefully for the whole academic year.

WITHDRAWAL

1. Applications for T.C. must be given in writing by the parent /guardian, in case of need, before 31 January of every year with 100/- in the school office. The T.C. is made ready after the results ofthat year are announced. It should be collected before April 10failing which, the application for T.C. gets lapsed. Applications for is-sue of T.C. received after the announcement of the results will beentertained only after the payment of Tuition Fee, Special fee andStationery fee of I Term.

2. If the applications are made after January 31, the T.C. will be issuedone week after the school reopens, i.e., in June.

3. In case where the T.C. is applied after one or more years afterleaving the school, a search fee for 200/- will be collected.

III. FEES1. After the final selection of candidates, the parents are asked to

remit the fee as per the fee card and obtain the receipt for thesame (only for new admissions) in the extension counter ofKarur Vysya Bank situated in the school campus.

2.. Thereafter a separate counter will be opened by the Karur VysyaBank in the school campus during the below mentioned datesand the fee can be paid in the school campus itself. The fee cardwill be issued after the announcement of result. This card shouldbe preserved, carefully for the whole academic year.

3. No reminders will be issued for payment of fees.4. Fee should be paid by the due dates as indicated above.5. Failure to pay the fee by the due dates will entail payment of Late

Fee.a) A Late Fee of .200/- from the last due date to the end of that

month.b) Re-admission fee will be collected the next month at the

discretion of the Management.6. Cheques / DD in favour of K.P.C.V.S.S. SB a/c. 34814.7. Cheques on local banks will only be accepted subject to

realisation. If the cheque is returned unpaid, payment will beaccepted in cash with the cheque return charges in the schooloffice.

Every assignment / activity / homework must be completed within the specified time. Parents should ensure that their wards are regular in doing the assigned task.
