• Mindfulness Minha and MovementSaturday, June 21, 6:30-9:30PM, 88th St. Sanctuary: BJ members who participated in the Costa Rica retreat have formed a Mindfulness Havurah and would like to invite the BJ community to gather for an evening of mind-

ful practice and movement. The event will be facilitated by Rabbi Marcelo Bronstein, Rabbi Rachel Cowan and Sol Gonzalez, our movement facilitator from Costa Rica. Light refreshments will be served. • Volunteer with the bJ/SpSa Homeless Shelter this SummerMonday and Tuesday, 88th Street Frankel Hall and Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday, 86th Street Social Hall: Many of our regular volunteers are away for the summer, which means we need you! You can get involved by joining our set up shift (7:00-9:00PM), sleepover shift (9:00PM-7:00AM), or becom-ing a food donor. We are especially in need of additional sleepover volun-teers for Tuesday nights. • Get involved: city council District 6 introduces participatory budgetingTuesday, June 17, 6:00-8:00PM, Goddard Riverside Community Center, 593 Columbus Avenue: This year, Council Member Helen Rosenthal’s office will be allocating one million dollars of the city’s budget through a process called Participatory Budgeting. In the fall residents will start brainstorming ideas for our community. Volunteers will then develop these ideas into pro-posals and, in the spring, residents will decide which projects get the fund-ing. • Join the Justice for Farmworkers campaign with the economic Justice HevraMonday, June 23, 6:30-8:45PM, location given upon R.S.V.P.: Hidden from our view are 80,000 farmworkers who make New York’s multi-billion dollar

agricultural economy possible. The Economic Justice Hevra, part of Panim el Panim, BJ’s Community Organizing and Advocacy Initiative, is working on the Justice for Farmworkers Campaign. We traveled to Albany on Cinco de Mayo to lobby for Farmworker labor rights and are continuing to work on the passage of the Farmworker Fair Labor Practices Act.
