Performance Calculation - example
• Each tournament selected for the HP group will be ranked…A, B, C or D in terms of difficulty in winning (Example: Worlds ranked A , US Open ranked B and KaOn tournament is ranked D)
• Each rank will be quantified by a Factor of Difficulty (Example: ‘A’ Rank tournaments will have Factor difficulty 10, ‘B’ Rank 5 and ‘C’ Rank 3 and D Rank 1)
• The factor will be used to multiply the base number of points earned at the tournament
• Need to determine the Base number of Points for each place (Example: Gold 50 points, Silver 25 points, Bronze 12.5 points, 5-8 place 5 points).
• Base numbers are different for each HP group

Funding Plan
• The funding of the athletes will be driven by performance (points)
• HP program will be funded from: Karate Ontario, Q4G, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport, Trillium, Business sponsorships, Family, Club fundraising

• Provides realistic and achievable targets • Creates an atmosphere conducive to continuous
improvement (Kai Zen)• Allows athletes to visualize the improvement, which can
be a strong motivator for further improvements • Creates a sense of urgency for improvement • Provides transparent measurement showing that there is
a need for change • Helps to identify weak areas and indicates what needs to
be done to improve• KO will establish benchmarks for the HP Groups in 2013
