World’s cane sugar production is directly re-lated to the sugar production. This in the lastthree years averaged 112 million tons, outstan-ding as the mayor producer’s countries Brazil,Thailand, Australia, Cuba and India.

Annual consumption is now running at about120 million tons and is expanding at a rate ofabout 2 million tons per annum.

Today’s modern sugar industry is still beset withgovernment interference at many levels andthroughout the world. The European Union,Brazil and India are the top three producers andtogether account for some 40% of the annualproduction. However most sugar is consumedwithin the country of production and onlyapproximately 25% is traded internationally.

One of the most important examples of govern-mental actions is within the European Unionwhere sugar prices are so heavily subsidizedthat over 5 million tons of white beet sugarhave to be exported annually and yet a milliontons of raw cane sugar are imported fromformer colonies. This latter activity is a form ofoverseas aid which is also practiced by theUSA. The EU’s over-production and subsequentdumping has now been subjected to GATTrequirements which should see a substantialcut-back in production over the next few years.

On the other hand environmental issues as theneed for renewable fuel has shown to be asolution for many countries which are lookingfor a way out of the fossil fuel trap, with de-mand for ethanol.

Also considering that the per capita sugarconsumption tendency in underdevelopedcountries is decreasing and that Asian countries

consumption is culturally lower, a strong pres-sure on imports from Japan, South Korea andChina should be expected in the coming years.

This situation of sugar’s scarcity in world’smarkets is pushing sugar’s prices up and stimu-lated the production in several countries. Thereare some good reasons to expect promisingperspectives for the sugar cane producingcountries.

In the last years new lubricants have beendeveloped in order to replace asphaltic cutback oils from the sugar industry becauseof higher requirements and standards forsecurity, health and environmental issues.By taking advantage of the differentiatedcharacteristics of the new oils, LAAPSAintroduces a product program of high valuefor the protection of equipments involvedin the cane sugar production.

Besides the lubricant offer, we understandthat the best approach and the best decisionwill be reached by carring out a thoroughcheck out of the production environment.

is a group of Premium fluids made of a blend oforganic and synthesized hydrocarbons, resulting in “gel- type”compounds with tixothropic properties. This will ensure alubricating film with superior viscosity, capable to resist the highestload stresses in the large roller mill’s thrust bearings of the extrac-tion process.

Its structure conformed by special polymers of high resistance tothe deformation generates a very high hydraulic resistance; itsstability, high thickness and its adhesiveness conform a ring thatremains and seals the brass bushings, resisting the water-washout,and avoiding the entrance of pollutants as juice and bagasse.

The additive chemistry of SUGARPRESS | BR resists the high tem-peratures generated between the friction elements avoiding seizure.

APPLICATIONS

SUGARPRESS BR has been designed to lubricate and to protectjournal bearings or crown wheels, open gear transmissions and itssupport bearings, semi enclosed transmissions gears of crystallizersand dryers, with the capability to resist the permanent attack ofpollutants as vapor, water, juice and trash.

The quantities of SUGARPRESS | BR needed to effectively lubricatethe mill brasses is up to 10 times less when compared to the quan-tities normally used of asphaltic cutback type lubricant and up to30% less compared to graphite type greases. Tests and docu-mented trials show that temperature readings measured at a dis-tance of 6 mm of the friction area between brass bushing and shaftare about 100ºC/210ºF.

SUGARPRESS | BR is a product line of Premiumfluids made of a special blend of organic andsynthesized hydrocarbons, resulting in“gel- type” compoundswith tixothropic proper-ties, which ensures alubricating film withsuperior viscosity, capa-ble to resist the highestload stresses in thelarge roller mill’s thrustbearings of the extrac-tion process.

The stability, thickness and adherence of thefilm form a ring that remains resisting thelaundry for water and avoiding the pollutingentrance as juice and bagasse.

Its additive chemistry provides high protectionby minimizing metal-to-metal contact and wear, and lower operating temperatures of the fric-tion elements. SUGARPRESS | BR is of a lightgolden color, without solid contents and be-cause of its lowest consumption rates, highest workspace cleanliness may beachieved, as never before.

In this way black oils with asphaltensand with carcinogenic effect, will beeliminated from this food processingindustry.

Also higher reliability can be achievedwith SUGARPRESS | BR, compared to thelubrication with metallic soap greases, because it doesn’t block up pipes, whichusually happens because of the oil-soap-solid lubricant separation when workingunder high hydraulic pressure generatedby the pumps of centralized systems.
