Why know your Warning Signs?
Heart Attacks and Strokes are amongst the leading causes of death in Australia. Understanding the
Warning Signs and responding appropriately could ultimately save your life or the life of someone
else.
HEART ATTACKS
A heart attack happens when there is a sudden complete blockage of an artery supplying blood to
your heart.
CARDIAC ARREST
A cardiac arrest happens when the heart suddenly stops beating.
STROKE
A stroke happens when there is a sudden blockage of an artery supplying blood to your brain.
What increases the Risk of a Heart Attack or Stroke?
Knowing your RISKS is the first step to avoiding a Heart Attack or Stroke

Age as you get older your risk of heart disease increases
