More Yarn Information

Gauge – In St st: 21 sts and 27 rows = 4 x 4“; Take time to

check gauge, changing needle size if necessary.

Rib pattern – On RS rows, alternate k2, p2; on WS rows,

k the knit sts and p the purl.

Stockinette stitch (St st): – K on RS, p on WS.

Instructions

Instructions are for smallest size. Changes for the larger siz-

es are in parentheses and in different colors. If there is only

one number it applies to all sizes.

Back – 82/90/98/106/114 With size US 6 (4 mm) needles,

cast on 82 (90, 98, 106, 114) sts. Next WS row: 1 selvage

st, p1, * k2, p2; rep from * to last 4 sts, k2, p1, 1 selvage st.

Work in rib pat as established for 2½“, ending with a WS row.

Work in St st for 12 rows.

Shape sides – Cont in St st and inc 1 st each side

of next RS row, then every 14th row 5 times more =

94/102/110/118/126 sts. Cont in St st until back measures

16¾“ from beg, ending with a WS row.

Shape armholes – Bind off 2/3/4/4/5 M abketten, sts at

beg of next 2 rows, 2/2/2/3/3 sts at beg of next 2 rows, 2

sts at beg of next 2 rows and 1 st at beg of next 4 rows =

78/84/90/96/102 M. sts. Cont in St st until armhole measu-

res 8½/8¾/9¼/9½/10“, ending with a WS row.

Shape shoulders and neck – Bind off 7/7/7/9/9 sts

from each shoulder edge once, then 6/7/8/8/9 sts twice.

At same time, on first row of shoulder shaping, shape neck:

Bind off center 32/34/36/38/40 sts. Working both sides

at once, bind off 3 sts from each neck edge once, then 1

st once. No sts remain after shoulder and neck shaping is

complete. Total length = 26/26¼/26¾/27/27½“.

Left front – With size US 6 (4 mm) needles, cast on 39/43,

47/51/55 sts. Next WS row: 1 selvage st, *p2, k2; rep from *

to last 2 sts, p1, 1 selvage st. Work in rib pat as established for

2½“, ending with a WS row. Work in St st for 12 rows.

Shape side – Cont in St st and inc 1 st at side edge (beg of

next RS row), then every 14th row 5 times more = 45/49/53/

57/61 sts. Cont in St st until left front measures 16¾“ from

beg, ending with a WS row.

Shape armhole and front neck edge – Work armhole

shaping at right edge same as for back and at same time, on

first WS row after beg of armhole shaping, shape front neck

edge as foll: Bind off 1 st at beg of next WS row, then every foll

WS row 5/6/7/8/9 times, then every other WS row 12 times

= 19/21/23/25/27 sts and when left front measures same

length as back to shoulder, shape shoulder at right edge

same as for back. No sts remain after shoulder and neck

shaping is complete. Total length = 26/26¼/26¾/27/27½“.

Right front – Work to correspond to left front, reversing

all shaping.

Sleeves – With size US 6 (4 mm) needles, cast on

50/50/54/54/58 sts. Next WS row: 1 selvage st, p1, *k2, p2;

rep from * to last 4 sts, k2, p1, 1 selvage st. Work in rib pat

as established for 2½“, ending with a WS row. Inc 0/2/0/2/2

sts evenly on last WS row = 50/52/54/56/60 sts. Work in St

st for 8 rows.

Shape sleeve – Cont in St st and inc 1 st each side of next

RS row for all sizes, then every 10th row 7 times, every 8th

row 3 times (then every 8th row 12 times, then every 8th row

8 times, every 6th row 6 times, then every 8th row 5 times,

every 6th row 10 times, then every 8th row twice, every 6th

row 14 times) = 72/78/84/88/94 sts. Cont in St st until

sleeve measures 19“ from beg, ending with a WS row.

Shape sleeve cap – Bind off 3/3/4/4/5 sts at beg of next 2

rows, 2 sts at beg of next 4 rows, 1 st at beg of next 28/32/34/

36/38 rows and 2 sts at beg of next 6 rows. Bind off remaining

18/20/22/24/26 sts. Total length = 25/25¼/25½/26/26½“

Finishing – Pin pieces to measurements and block. Sew

shoulder seams.

Front band – With size US 6 (4 mm) circular needle, be-

ginning at cast-on edge of right front and ending at cast-

on edge of left front, pick up and knit 86 sts along straight

edge of right front, 49/50/53/54/55 sts along shaped edge

of right front, 46/48/50/52/54 sts along back neck edge,

49/50/53/54/55 sts along shaped edge of left front and 86

sts along straight edge of left front = 316/320/328/332/336

sts. Next WS row: 1 selvage st, *p2, k2; rep from * to last

3 sts, p2, 1 selvage st. Work in rib pat as established for 4

rows. Next WS (buttonhole) row: 1 selvage st, work 2 sts,

bind off 2 sts, *work 11 sts, bind off 2 sts; rep from * 5 times,

work to end. On foll RS row, cast on 2 sts over bound-off sts.

Cont in rib pat until front band measures 1¼“ from beg, then

bind off all sts on next RS row. Sew in sleeves. Sew side and

sleeve seams. Weave in all ends. Sew on buttons.
