GRAND KNIGHT’S MESSAGE

Gentlemen,

August was a busy month even without our regularmeeting. The Scholasang again at theRainiers Game on Aug.7th and were, asexpected right onkey. The gentlemanwho is in charge ofthese events has invitedus to sing again nextyear, great jobguys. The followingday was the annual

Pilgrimage at St. Georges. The Color Corp wasthere in all their finery, thanks to all that couldattend. Saturday was also our Intercouncil Picnicand Mini Car show, attendance was disappointing asonly about 50 folks were in there. This is an eventwe may want to think about removing as attendancehas been slim the last several years. I wouldappreciate any feedback that is offered.

Columbian Squires, Crusaders of St. Joseph, heldtheir 1st Annual Flag Football Tournamenton Saturday, August 15th. Although only three teamsparticipated, the event was considered a success as itwas the first tournament of this kind to be sponsored.Sean Johnson has told me that they will work onobtaining a larger turnout for next year. Two of theteams consisted of mostly St. Michael ElementarySchool kids and a few from McKenny ElementarySchool. The third team was from Steilacoom – ateam that plays in the Thurston County Youth

Football League. The Steilacoom Sentinels won thetournament, but, all played hard and are eager toplay again next year. The Squires raised over $3000,after expenses paid from sponsorship andregistration fees, for Friend of Mia and all proceedswill be given to Seattle Children’s Hospital forchildhood cancer research. A special thanks goesout to all of the sponsors, Pellegrino’s ItalianKitchen, Panowicz Jewelers, Falcone’s BicycleCenter, Cooper Moss Advanced Dentistry, Get YourSmile On, Sir Knight Phil Kelley, Schilter FamilyFarm, Edward Jones, Cut Rate Auto Parts, VueVision, Allen T. Miller Law Offices, Council 1643and Assembly 1183.

FAITHFUL NAVIGATOR’S MESSAGE

Dear Faithful Brother Knights

We had two really fun events, in August, with a lotof participation. OnAugust 7th, our ScholaCantorum had aspectacular performanceof the National Anthemat Cheney Stadium andthe Tacoma Rainiersbaseball game was athriller. Also, it wasHusky night, so many ofus were wearing purple.

The next day, the Color Corps participated in thePilgrimage for Our Lady of Perpetual Help, at St.George’s Byzantine Church. This is a fantasticevent, if you haven’t yet participated, please try tocome next year. The BBQ after Mass is alwaysamazing. I will include some photos.

What I would really like to encourage everyone toparticipate in, on Sunday, September 13, is ourAnnual Veterans Cowboy BBQ at Columbus Park.We added “Veterans” because the proceeds gotowards covering veterans at our veteran’sappreciation dinner in November. This is a fun eventfor the whole family. There is a steak dinner with allthe usual fixings and a hot dog dinner for thekiddies. We will have some games, as usual, andwater balloons for the kids. Please purchase yourtickets from one of the assembly officers.
