Yardages and Cutting WOF means width of fabric from selvage edge to selvage edge. Remove as little fabric as possible when trimming off

selvage edges. 1 yard Knightley panel, SB20275-930 • Cut out large center panel 16 1/2"-wide and then 1/4" out from inside of the black outline for height. Note: An exact height is not important. Panel will be framed and trimmed to size. • Cut out 4 squares 6"-wide and then 1/4" out from inside of the black outline on top and bottom. 5/8 yard light aqua swirl, SB20053-930 • 1 strip 2 1/2" x WOF; cut into (2) 2 1/2" x 17 1/2" strips for center panel. • 1 strip 9 3/4" x WOF; cut into (3) 9 3/4" squares and (2) 5 1/8" squares. Cut the 9 3/4" squares twice diagonally to make 12 large triangles. Cut the 5 1/8" squares in half diagonally to make 4 small triangles. • 3 strips 1 3/4" x WOF for rail units. 1/2 yard dark aqua swirl, SB20103-950 • 2 strips 1 3/4" x WOF for rail units. • 5 strips 1 1/2" x WOF for border. 1/3 yard gray swirl, SB20053-170 • 5 strips 1 1/2" x WOF for rail units.

1/2 yard yellow swirl, SB20053-310 • 5 strips 1 3/4" x WOF for rail units. • 3 strips 1 1/4" x WOF; cut into (8) 1 1/4" x 7 1/2" and (8) 1 1/4" x 6 1/2" strips for panel squares. 1 yard black swirl, SB20053-190 • 5 strips 1 1/2" x WOF for rail units. • 3 strips 1" x WOF; cut into (2) 23" and (2) 17 1/2" strips for center panel. • 6 strips 2 1/4" x WOF for binding. 1 1/3 yards white scrolls, SB20053-101 • 15 strips 1" x WOF for rail units. • 2 strips 9 3/4" x WOF; cut into (5) 9 3/4" squares and (2) 5 1/8" squares. Cut the 9 3/4" squares twice diagonally to make 20 triangles. Cut the 5 1/8" squares in half diagonally to make 4 triangles. 3 1/2 yards for backing • 2 pieces 61" long

Piecing the Units Use a 1/4" seam allowance for all stitching. Press seams as directed.

1. Sew 1 1/4" x 6 1/2" yellow strips to opposite sides of the small panel pieces. Press seams toward the strips.

Trim strip ends even at the top and bottom.

2. Stitch 1 1/4" x 7 1/2" yellow strips to the top and bottom of each unit. Press seams toward the strips. Trim each unit to 6 1/2" x 6 1/2", keeping the panel centered in the frame.

3. Referring to the exploded quilt diagram, sew the 1" x 23" black strips to the long sides of the large panel. Press seams toward the strips. Trim the strip ends even at the top and bottom. Stitch the 1" x 17 1/2" strips to the top and bottom. Press seams toward the strips.

4. Stitch the 2 1/2" x 17 1/2" light aqua strips to the top and bottom of the framed panel. Press seams toward the strips. Trim the bordered panel to 26" tall, keeping the panel centered. Framed unit should be 17 1/2" x 26".

5. Stitch (3) 1" white strips lengthwise together with 1 each 1 1/2" black and 1 1/2" gray strips and 1 3/4" light

aqua and 1 3/4" yellow strips to make a strip set. Press seams away from the white strips. Repeat to make 3 strip sets. Crosscut the strip sets into (18) 6 1/2" A rail units.

A Rail Units — Cut 18

6. Stitch (3) 1" white strips lengthwise together with 1 each 1 1/2" black and 1 1/2" gray strips and 1 3/4" dark

aqua and 1 3/4" yellow strips to make a strip set. Press seams away from the white strips. Repeat to make 2 strip sets. Crosscut the strip sets into (10) 6 1/2" B rail units.

Completing the Quilt Refer to the Exploded Quilt Center diagram throughout the following steps.

1. Referring to the Left Section diagram below, arrange 2 A rail units, 3 B rail units, (2) 9 3/4" and (2) 5 1/8"

light aqua triangles and (1) 9 3/4" white triangle into diagonal rows. Join the units and triangles in rows. Press seams in opposite directions from row to row. Join the rows to complete the left section. Press seams to 1 side. Repeat to make the right section, referring to the exploded quilt diagram for placement of the black and gray edges of the rail units.

2. Sew the left and right sections to the long sides of the bordered panel unit. Press seams toward the panel unit.

3. Referring to the Top Section diagram, arrange 1 A rail unit, 2 B rail units and (3) 9 3/4" light aqua triangles in diagonal rows. Join the units and triangles in diagonal rows. Press seams in opposite directions from row to row. Join the rows to complete the top section. Press seams to 1 side. Repeat to make the bottom section, referring to the exploded quilt diagram for placement of the black and gray edges of the rail units.

4. Center and stitch the top and bottom sections to the top and bottom of the center section. Press seams toward the top and bottom sections.

5. Arrange 3 A rail units, 1 small panel unit and (4) 9 3/4" and (1) 5 1/8" white triangles in rows. Join the units and triangles in rows. Press seams toward the A rail units. Join the rows to complete the top left corner section. Press seams away from the center row. Repeat to make the remaining corner sections, paying close attention to the positioning of the small panel units to keep the print upright in the quilt and to the positioning of the rail units from corner to corner. Note: Set aside the remaining white and light aqua triangles for another project.

6. Center and sew the corner sections to

the angled edges of the pieced section to complete the 43" x 51 1/2" quilt center. Press seams toward the corner sections.

7. Sew the 1 1/2" x WOF dark aqua strips short ends together to make a long strip. Press seams to 1 side. Cut into (2) 51 1/2" strips and (2) 45" strips. Referring to the cover quilt, stitch the longer strips to the long sides of the quilt center and the shorter strips to the top and bottom to complete the top. Press seams toward the strips.

8. Remove the selvage edges from the

61" backing pieces. Join the pieces on the long edges with a 1/2" seam allowance. Press seam open. Trim to make a 52" x 61" backing piece.

9. Layer the quilt top and backing with a 52" x 61" batting piece. Quilt as desired and bind using your favorite methods and the black swirl binding strips to complete the quilt.
