HIGHLAND - Daniel Ober-reuter will be performing a live and unplugged spiritual experi-ence the afternoon of April 24, at the Knights of Columbus Hall here. Doors open at 2 p.m.

Oberreuter is the lead singer and song writer of the cutting edge Catholic band, “The Thirst-ing”, from Portland, Oregon.

His music unabashedly pro-claims the truths of the Catholic faith from confession, and the Eucharist, to the Trinity and Mary, all while rivaling secular acts in energy and emotion.

The mission of The Thirsting is to inspire people to love and follow Jesus Christ through the Eucharist, Mary and the Rosary as well as the teachings of the Catholic Church.

As a live touring band, The Thirsting is known for high energy shows with a powerful message.

Oberreuter is especially known for his promotion and preaching of the rosary. At a Thirsting concert, the audience is taken on a spiritual journey as a Catholic message is inter-mingled with a stunning rock performance.

Many people are moved to greater repentance and a deeper love of Jesus and His Church. The band has played numerous diocesan youth rallies and con-certs across the nation and has opened for major label acts such as Matt Maher.

Family Of The MonthMarch’s Family of the Month

Award is given to a Brother Knight and his Lady for their continued service and support to the Church, our Council and our community.

Our Brother Knight is one of our newer members who joined our council last May. He has been very active within our council and regularly attends our monthly meetings. His Lady is a member of the Highland Ladies Auxiliary and is very ac-tive in their events and regularly attends their meetings as well. Both our Brother and his Lady have committed to volunteer-ing their time to work multiple Lenten Fish Fry Dinners. In the past he has worked the Madison County Fair and as a team they chaired one of the soda stands at last year’s Kirchenfest.

Our Brother Knight and his Lady are recent converts to the Catholic religion and have demonstrated that they are truly committed to the faith as togeth-er they have chosen to become Hospitality Ministers at St. Paul Church. They also realize the value of a catholic education as their daughter attends St. Paul School. Their daughter plays a key role in helping the family doing ‘her part’ in many ways. She performs very well in school and participates in the family’s success by providing them with needed inspiration “to be all they can be.” While mom and dad are busy serving the needs of the church and our council, she keeps busy doing her homework, praying, smil-ing and exhibiting impeccable manners.

Our Brother Knight and his Lady have accepted a husband and wife position as committee members for the “Stewardship & Discipleship” initiatives at St. Paul Church and the Spring-field Diocese. After completing instruction in the four pillars of Discipleship; Hospitality, Formation, Prayer and Service, they will be poised to assist in facilitating the success of those initiatives.

It is with deep appreciation that we have selected the family of Shanon, Dawn and Madison Autry as March 2016’s Family of the Month. Congratulations from 1580.

Senior Knight Of The Month

March’s Senior Knight of the Month award is given to a Brother Knight for his con-tinued service and support to the church, our council and our community.

This longt ime Brother Knight is a member of both the

3rd Degree Council and the 4th Degree Assembly with over 42 years of faithful service. His list of duties and accomplishments within our Order is quite nu-merous. Our Brother is a Past Grand Knight of Council 1580 and continues to volunteer his services at every sponsored event throughout the year. He is a weekly volunteer at the Tues-day night Euchre tournaments and Wednesday night Bingo games. During the Lenten Fish Fry dinners he coordinates all of the carryout orders for the local nursing homes and retirement centers. This year he chaired the Spelling Bee which yielded over 30 area student participants and was a great success. He contin-ues to be one of our council’s greatest Pro-Life supporters and spokesman. He also spends many hours in the Adoration Chapel at St. Joseph’s Hospital and is a member of the Cursillo movement. He is truly an asset for Council 1580 and the Order of the Knights of Columbus.

It is with great pleasure that we have selected Leon Luber as our March 2016 Senior Knight of the Month. Congratulations from Council 1580.

Knight Of The MonthWe have selected as March’s

Knight of the Month, a Brother Knight who contributes much his time and talents to the Knights of Columbus Council 1580, St. Paul Catholic Church and the Highland Community.

This Brother Knight is a long-time member of our council with 26 years of faithful service. He volunteers his time at many of our sponsored events such as the Kirchenfest, Madison County Fair and Chicken Dinner. Sever-al years ago in the early 90’s he provided assistance in pouring the concrete used for construct-ing our parking lot. You will also find our Brother Knight regularly working the Wednes-day night Bingo games. It has been said, (or claimed), that he makes the BEST cheeseburgers and pork burgers around. He has also been a ‘season ticket holder’ for left bleacher seats at 7:30 Mass at St. Paul Church for many, many years.

It is with sincerest apprecia-tion that we have selected Lee Wellen as our Knight of the Month for March 2016. Con-gratulations from the Highland Knights of Columbus Council 1580.

“Christ has no body but yours; no hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which His compassion looks out upon the world. Yours are the feet with which He walks to do good. Yours are the hands with which he blesses all the world.”

St. Teresa of AvilaThe man whispered, “God

speak to me”, and a meadow-lark sang. But the man did not hear. So the man yelled, “God, speak to me”, and the thunder rolled across the sky. But the man did not listen. The man looked around and said, “God, let me see you”, and a star shone brightly. But the man did not see. The man shouted, “God, show me a miracle!”, and a life was born. But the man did not notice. So the man cried out in despair, “Touch me, God, and let me know you are here!” Whereupon, God reached down and touched the man. But the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on...

Love is Mission “The Holy Family Prayer Program”Many thanks to the participants who helped make our “Holy

Family Prayer Program” the success that it was. Featured presenters were Jeremy Hilling, Dan Kapp, Don Lohman, Jerry Klostermann and Joe Wetmore. Our very own Deacon Dave Bohnensteihl led the program which also featured Kathy Lohman as Cantor and Dineen Czar as accompanist. Joan Riffle assisted with the decorations and the Highland Assembly 0231 provided a six man Honor Guard. How truly blessed we are to have so many talented and willing participants. This rosary based prayer program with the Holy Fam-ily Icon as its centerpiece provided for a very spiritual evening.

precious that few financial products from other companies can – guarantees. As long as you pay your premiums, the policy proceeds will be there for your beneficiaries should something happen to you. That’s peace of mind, and that’s what we offer with every product in our portfolio.

We guarantee the cash value in your whole life policies will be there.

We guarantee the rates on your term insurance. We guarantee our retirement products will provide a stream of

income when you need it. On top of those product guarantees, I guarantee that I will offer

professional, high-quality service that you would expect from our organization.

Our Order is among the highest rated life insurers in North America. AM Best has rated the Knights of Columbus “A++, Superior” for 39 consecutive years. It’s a testament to our track record for excellence and security.

I would suggest that a principal reason that we were able to achieve those accolades is because we remain steadfastly com-mitted to the vision of Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney by providing life insurance by brother Knights for brother Knights.

That commitment is an essential core value of the Knights of Columbus, and our core values permeate all levels of our organi-zation. We pledge to serve our brother Knights, and their families, according to our Golden Rule: “In all my professional relationships, I pledge myself to the following rule of conduct: I shall, in light of all conditions surrounding those I serve, render that service which, under the same circumstances, I would apply to myself.”

Let’s talk soon to discuss how our products can bring that peace of mind to you and your family.

local community. Thank you all for your continued support toward this most worthy endeavor. Upcoming events include the Madison County Bowl for Charity which is scheduled for

Sunday, April 10th. Five member teams may enter for $100 per team, ($20 per person). Also, if you cannot make
