Brother Knights,
Greetings! The summer is officially over, my favorite time of the year. We have many events to look forward to this fall. The breakfasts have begun & the next one is Sunday October 9
th. We had a great turn-
out at our September breakfasts & look for-ward to more of the same this fall. Thank-you volunteers!
The annual Tootsie Roll drive is underway this past Saturday, September 24
th at Safe-
way. We had volunteers but can always use more for the coming ones on all the Satur-days in October (all 3 King Soopers stores, Davco, St. Augustine’s, & the Lochbuie market). Please jump in & let me know when you are able to volunteer for 1 hour on any (or all) of these Saturday’s! The do-nated money goes right back into our Brighton community elementary schools to help the special needs programs in those schools.
Saturday September 17th a bus load of us
went up the hill to the Reserve Casino. A good time was had as evidenced by all the smiles of the participants on the bus ride back to Brighton. Thanks, Fidel Balderas, for setting up this fun event!
November is our annual Memorial Mass & dinner at the hall on Thursday November 17th. Afterwards we will put together more than 250 turkey baskets to be distributed through the food pantry. This is just another great example of Knights helping those in
need in our community.
Lastly on the charitable front several other events; We will again be donating Coats for Kids through the food pantry. We have or-dered 48 (4 boxes of girls & boys) coats, matching Michael Connelly’s generous do-nation of 48 coats. Also, we will be distrib-uting Halloween candy at the Hall on Mon-day October 31
st. Bring your kids by or just
join in the fun of handing out the goodies to all those appreciative kids (and sometimes grown-ups too).
Just a reminder our meetings are at 7:30 pm every month on the first & third. The second meetings are held downstairs to accommodate those that have issues with the steep stairway on the second floor. If you haven’t attended in awhile, we would love to see you at one of the meetings.
The next First degree installation will be held on Tuesday October 18 for new candi-dates at 7:00 pm – we are off to a some-what slow start so please talk with your Catholic gentlemen about joining our order. Our goal for the fiscal year is 21 new mem-bers.
I look forward to seeing you all soon.
Vivat Jesus,
Jim Albany

I am writing this article on the first day of Fall, this is my favorite time of year. I love to see the leaves from the trees change colors, red, yellow, orange, and brown all have a sense of calm. I like when the weather cools down, and there is a crisp-ness in the air, somehow I sleep better.
The Ladies Auxiliary did not have their Family Game Day on September 18, because of a conflict of interest. The Broncos were playing the Colts at home so we decided to post-pone the Fam-ily Game Day. We will keep you informed with the new date and time. I look forward to seeing every-one at this family event.
Please join us for a peaceful day of prayer Wednesday, October 12th at 10:00am across the street from Planned Parenthood to pray the rosary. (7155 E. 38th Avenue, Denver, CO 80207) The Ladies Auxiliary and St. Augustine parish members will aggressively pray to save lives. This is part of the "40 Days for Life" campaign. The vigil is practi-cal exposure to, and an awareness of, the occur-rence that will leave an impression on you. Invite a friend or neighbor to participate in this beautiful prayer vigil.
The Daughters of St. Monica are busy pre-paring for our Annual Craft Fair and Bake Sale. This event is just around the corner, so save the date and mark your calendars. Support the Ladies Auxiliary and local vendors Saturday, October 22
from 9am-4pm at the Columbian Home Event Cen-ter. Admission and Coffee are FREE ! ! Tables are almost filled and proceeds benefit college scholar-ships for local youth. Please contact one of our Auxiliary Ladies for a flyer to advertise at your place of business or neighborhood venues. For questions or a registration form contact Melissa Cisneros at 303.263.8473 or Jill Klein at 303.498.0840. Help us get the word out to enjoy handcrafted items and homemade baked goods.
Sincerely Serving,
Laura Lucero

Greetings Brother Knights. The Columbian Home Board had a busy sum-mer and we have been working on various projects to improve the hall. First, we are in the process of completing the transfer of the liquor license from Council 3285 to the Columbian Home. The state has approved the transfer and we are just awaiting the actual license. We have had the tem-porary for a couple of months and this is the final step.
Rentals were good all summer, as usual, and we were able to operate in the black for the last several months. Work continues on upgrading some of the electrical connections. We had a big ex-pense this summer when the beer cooler went out. It has been repaired. The hall is a very old building and is constantly in need of work, so if you have any special skills and wish to volunteer some work, con-tact me or Jim Herrera.
As I stated last month, we are now entering a difficult time of year. Rentals have already begin to fall off and the expenses will climb. I want to thank Council 3285 and the Bingo Committee for the finan-cial help being provided to Columbian Home. May we all work together through Jesus Christ to keep and maintain our home.
Antonio Lucero
Columbian Home Board President
My fellow Sir Knights, Just a few updates on upcoming activities. We will have our first Honor Guard on Saturday, October 2nd at the 5 PM mass. Showtime is 4:30 in the church basement. Let's have a good showing for our first Honor Guard. We will have an Honor Guard at mass every month on the first Sunday of the month, and we will rotate through all masses. Our next 4th degree meeting will be on Tuesday October 4th at 7:30 PM, and we will have a second reading of our proposed bylaws, so please try to
attend. Our next 4th degree social will be on Thurs-day, November 10th at 6:30 PM. The location has not been determined yet, so if you have any sug-gestion, please get with Our Faithful Captain, Jim Albany. These are always fun and a great way to get together, so I would invite all Knights to attend, no matter what degree you are.
Vivat Jesus!

Culture of Life and Family
The Knights of Columbus stands strong in its conviction that every human life is a gift of God, endowed with certain inalienable rights—the first among these being the right to life. Even in the midst of difficulties and uncertainties, we believe that human life is sacred and inviolable, and ought to be defended with maximum determination. To this end, the Knights of Columbus supports policies that promote a Culture of Life and opposes legislative efforts that promote abortion, contraception, sterilization, cloning, and the destruction of embryos, assisted suicide, euthanasia, unjust war, and the death penalty when there is an acceptable alternative.
Oct. 1st, Prayer in the Square, 9AM in front of Planned Parenthood, come to pray a public Rosary & Divine Mercy
Chaplet for the sanctity of human life and the end of the persecution of Christians.
