Good Afternoon KNE Families, I hope everyone is well rested after a nice long and relaxing spring break. I hope you were indeed able to spend time with your family. We are well into 4th quarter, it doesn’t seem possible, does it? Can you believe we have just a few short weeks left of school? I wanted to share exciting news regarding summer school this year! Summer School Dates will be, May 30th- June 23rd. Student hours 8-3:45 with bus transportation provided. Students will receive $100 for perfect attendance. We are also excited to share, free breakfast & lunch for all students, they also earn a Big Scoops $2 gift card and are entered for the Sonic $5 weekly drawings now! We have weekly field trips and giveaways, and creative curriculum delivered by brilliant KNE Teachers & it’s only 19 days!!!! Parents, when you drop off in the morning, please pull up to paw numbers, similar to dismissal. We are seeing a lot of congestion in the morning and delays. Plus, safety is always our top priority! Thank you! As always, you are welcome at KNE to have lunch, volunteer or visit. We ask that you always sign in, grab an ID badge or sticker and please wear that while in the building. If you do not have a badge or sticker visible you will be asked to go back to the office and get one. Thank you for your ongoing cooperation.

Title Math I sent a Title I Math survey home the week before spring break. If you have not had an opportunity to complete and return your survey, please do so. It is very important for us to receive this feedback. If you have misplaced your copy of the survey, please have your child pick up another copy from me. Thanks so much!

Also, don't forget to stop by the Title Math table at our family movie night on April 6th. I would like to have you review our Title I Building Plan and make suggestions/give feedback as we develop our plan for the upcoming school year. Students will also have the opportunity to put their math skills to the test with my candy estimation jars. It should be a fun night for all!

As we head into the final quarter of school, Title Math students continue to make excellent progress. The kindergartners are working on identifying and understanding teen numbers, what comes before and after #1-10, and academic vocabulary (more/less, greater/fewer). My first-grade groups are learning Touch Math to help them add numbers quickly and accurately. We will also begin working on place value concepts. I have a variety of other groups of second through fourth-graders working on developing number sense, addition and subtraction strategies, as well as 4-digit subtraction with regrouping. It is exciting to see these concepts being internalized and students experiencing greater success in these areas!

I want to remind you that Title Math progress reports are not sent home quarterly but when your child passes the summative assessment, thus testing out of his/her skill group. As always, please contact me if I can be of assistance to you. I can be reached at school at (660)563-3019 or by email at [email protected]
