Discussion

Page 2: KMIP interop test program

Status

• Membership– Oracle, IBM, Safenet, Cryptsoft, Quintessence

have joined– EMC, Thales have expressed interest in joining

soon– Others are more than welcome

Page 3: KMIP interop test program

Testing status

• Three testing agreement documents being prepared– KMIP Test Program Application and Agreement– Request for KMIP server interop test– Request for KMIP client interop test

• Servers being shipped to SNIA tech center• Hope to announce availability of the test

program this year

Page 4: KMIP interop test program

Assumptions/Questions

• Server implementations are located at the SNIA tech center– We have allocated a rack

• Client implementations will be testing remotely (even though in some cases they may be co-resident)

• A test is for a product at a particular version

Page 5: KMIP interop test program

Assumptions/Questions

• All server implementations will be available to all client tests

• Client testing will be per profile/recipe which is a subset that is functionally complete

• Testing is confidential and only pass results are posted with permission

Page 6: KMIP interop test program

Fee structure

• SNIA and SSIF membership based upon company size• Testing fees are cost recovery• Server testing is annual fee - $3000– If multiple versions need to be supported simultaneously

then that is two server testing fees• Client testing - $500– per client fee– There is a concern that client testing fee will not recover

our costs

Typical workflow and timeframes• Server – stable for at least a year

– Shipped to SNIA tech center– Provisioning in SNIA tech center– Vendor configures, provides instruction to SNIA on capturing results

from a client test– Vendor provides support for diagnostics, maintenance of the server– Server test cases are automated and server passes the interop test and

is included in the list of servers available• Client – total elapsed time < 2 months

– Client tests privately– Client declares readiness for validation– Client exercises test cases for their recipe and the server

implementations and results are documented
