We're kicking off our fes vi es with a "Let's Connect" Seminar on Tuesday, 4 March from 0800‐1500 at the USAFE Conference Center. There will be weekly library displays and story me at 1000 every Thursday on Ramstein and at 1100 every Wednesday on Vogelweh. Our Professional Development Seminar will take place on 19 March from 0800‐1100 at the USAFE Conference Center. ColorMeGreen5K The U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland‐Pfalz Sports & Fitness Program is pu ng on the Color Me Green 5k run on March 15th in honor of St. Patrick’s day. The run will be located at the Landstuhl Fitness Center (Bldg 3720) and starts at 10:00. Everyone is encouraged to wear green and show their support for the event. The event cost is only a mere $5, and the first 100 people to register get a free t‐shirt! This is a family friendly, dog friendly fun run for all ages. Pets must be on a leash, and registrants must be U.S. ID Card holders. Registra on goes from 0800‐0930 and the runners form up at 0945. If you have any ques ons on the event, you can contact the event POC, Steffanie Paole at 489‐2086. Get out there and don’t get pinched!

The Airman's A c needs volunteers for a beau fica on day on March 15th to cleanup from
1100 to 1500. The volunteer shi s are two hours each, first shi star ng at 1100 and the
second at 1300.
This will be a wall to wall cleaning of the facility and removing old items to make room for
new ones. The Airman's A c services the en re KMC and is operated solely by volunteers.
We will need a large number of volunteers for this event, units/sec ons are encouraged to
sign‐up in groups. If you or your group would like to volunteer, please contact MSgt Andre
Aponte, MSgt Larnique Mickens, or MSgt Tonya Allen.

Addi onally, The Airmen's A c is in need of volunteers for Mar 2014. They need
volunteers Tuesday‐Friday from 1100‐1300 for sor ng dona ons, gree ng patrons, and
general clean‐up and organiza on. People can volunteer as individuals, or as a unit/group.
Due to the me it takes to training first me volunteers this month, we have
dedicated two days to train any and all first me volunteers prior to shi working.
Those days/ mes are: 5 and 26 of March @ 1030.
We are located in building 2162 next to the barbershop on the Southside. If you would like
to volunteer either email the Airman's A c or report to the Airman's A c between
1100 ‐ 1300 on Tues ‐ Fri. We will not turn volunteers away.

The 86th AW Commander has made some
changes to his driving policy. Here is a small
summary of changes, but s ll take a look at
AWI 31‐201. It may save you some heartache
later when transpor ng yourself in the KMC
Area.
SUMMARY OF CHANGES
This publica on establishes policies and
assigns responsibili es and procedures for
compliance with safe and efficient movement
of personnel and vehicles for the efficient
supervision of motor vehicles, bicycles, roller
skates, and pedestrian traffic on Ramstein Air
Base (RAB), Vogelweh Air Sta on (VAS),
Vogelweh Family housing Area (VFHA), Ein‐
siedlerhof Air Sta on (EAS), and Kapaun Air
Sta on (KAS), as well as all other areas under
the control of the 86th Airli Wing (86 AW).
This Interim Change modifies the Suspensions
and Revoca ons chart as iden fied in USAFE
Instruc on 31‐202. Addi onally, it provides
administra ve correc ons, iden fies the
correct process for DUI/DWI infrac ons and
provides the most up to date informa on in
the traffic point system.

March Madness Club 7 meal is in full swing
and we need people to volunteer and donate
food for KMC 5/6 Hosted Dinner on 14 Mar 14
at 1800 at the Club 7 on Ramstein. This event
provides a home cooked meal to Single or
Separated Airmen in the Dorms who don’t get
home cooked food every day. The 5/6 Needs

KMC 5/6 Upcoming Events and Opportunities
BTZ101
BTZ 101 is a 2 day course that provides NCOs and Airmen the necessary tools to get ready for SrA Below‐the‐Zone. The first day is a 4 hour session tailored for NCOs and the second day is 4 hour session for the Airmen. Tenta ve Dates: March 19th & 20th. Limited sea ng.
The Enlisted JCDI is an informal dinner for our enlisted members of all services (Air Force, Army, Navy, NATO, etc.). The combat dining in is the newest of dining‐in tradi ons and is popular due to the less formal atmosphere and combat dress requirements. Flight‐suits, space and missile crew suits, BDUs, and ABUs can be worn to the event. The uniforms can be mixed together and/or altered (appropriately and with good taste ‐ not revealing). This year's theme is "Boot Camp ‐ Past, Present, and Future". Water balloons, water guns, T.I.s and an obstacle course are just some of the hazards to be prepared for! Tenta ve Date: May 2014. Here is what we are looking for:
Newsle er ‐ Looking for anyone willing to work on ar cles and provide content for all chapter/division/
interna onal ac vi es. Newsle er will be produced on a monthly basis.
Twi er ‐ Have a smart phone and want to get involved? We need a couple people to work the twi er
page and tweet up to date legisla on, chapter events, etc.
YouTube ‐ Be able to work with our video development team to come out with any training aids,
briefings, and events that go on with the chapter.
Website ‐ We have a couple of individuals already on the web design team but always looking for more to
work with it. Content updaters are extremely important and too much of a task for one or two to handle.
Pinterest ‐ Would like to discuss the possibility of using this for the chapter.
Marke ng ‐ Create flyers, brochures, PowerPoints, and general paraphernalia associated to recrui ng,
reten ons, and ge ng the word out.
SharePoint ‐ ensuring that the SharePoint page is up to date and current with all files and documents
while providing a good base for project management.

COLABillActionbySenate
The Senate Armed Services Commi ee (SASC) will soon mark up legisla on to end reduc ons in cost‐of‐
living (COLA) allowances for working age military re rees. Some reports say it could happen as early as
February 6, while others point to early next week. We suspect it will be the la er. More than a dozen
bills pending in the House and Senate seek to reverse the unpopular COLA cuts and there are an equal
number of proposals on how best to pay for the change. Most lawmakers agree that the COLA reduc‐
ons were a bad idea but the s cking point has been how any correc ve legisla on would be fund‐
ed. We understand the bill up for considera on in the SASC does not include an offset for the $6 billion
fix, which makes us wonder about its long term viability. At a minimum, considera on of any bill is a
posi ve step forward and likely to spur a lot discussion on the ma er

The Saturday Learning
Academy took place on 22
Feb and involved over 30
students. The
Kaiserslautern African
American Heritage
Commi ee provided 6
volunteers to assist the
students with academic
curriculum to get the
students on track with
studies. The next SLA is 22
March 0800‐1100 at
Ramstein Middle School.

WoundedWarriorCollectionConcludes
SupportingtheEducationofOurYouth
We concluded our month long Wounded Warrior
Dona on Collec on Rally on 27 Feb 2014. The
Kaiserslautern African American Heritage Commi ee
coordinated the rally with collec on point coordinated
around the Ramstein AB and Kapaun AS. The
Kaiserslautern African American Heritage commi ee was
able to collect over 400lbs of food and toiletry items for
our Wounded Warriors. We will host the Wounded
Warrior Breakfast on 13 April 0800‐1000, volunteers are
welcome.
The Kaiserslautern African American Heritage
Commi ee con nued to fulfill its partnership mission
with Ramstein Middle School on 27 Feb. The
organiza on provided milestone incen ves for
students that par cipate in the Ramstein Middle
School "Math Mentor" program. Students that score
in the top 10 percent each session receive AAFES reel
me movie ckets that are sponsored by the KAAHC.
The key tenant to the partnership is "To enhance the
quality of educa on at Ramstein Middle School and
the effec veness of mentorship by the
Kaiserslautern African American Heritage Commi ee by establishing and maintaining high‐caliber
and crea ve partnerships between the school and the organiza on." If you’re interested in volun‐
teering to tutor, contact the KAAHC, or take part in the Ramstein STARS happening every
Wednesday at 14:45‐16:00 at the Ramstein Intermediate School.
The Kaiserslautern African American Heritage
Commi ee recently presented a Valen ne's Day
Special: The 5 Love Languages workshop. A endees
experienced the importance of being able to express
love to your spouse in a way that your spouse or
partner can understand. Par cipants completed
profiles to determine their own Love Language and
broke into working groups to explore the different
love dialects within each love language. All in all, the
event was formed to help improve posi ve
communica on among couples and hopefully it
achieved that goal. If you’re interested in a ending

giving back to the KMC. The
organiza on is comprised of
both military and civilian
members and is open to
everyone interested in
learning more about the
Hispanic culture
in a relaxed and informal
atmosphere. You may have
seen us taking part in the
Rocking 4th of July fes vi es
where we can
normally be found serving our
world famous fajita tacos
helping out at a wounded
warrior dinner, or perhaps at one of the
Hispanic Heritage Month events that we
host throughout
September and October.
We pride ourselves in
providing family events and
adult ou ngs for our members to unwind
and get to know other KHAC families.
