Dear Klein Community,

Happy New Year!  From time to time, we may hear about how today’s public

schools are not unlocking the full potential of our children, but nothing could be farther from the truth. We encourage you to become informed on what is actually happening in Texas public education and the Klein ISD so that you will have accurate information to share with others.

The two main objectives of the district are: 1) Each student will achieve academic excellence with comprehensive knowledge, skill and understanding within his/her individual learning plan; and 2) every student will demonstrate the character traits of a productive and honorable citizen in a global community. These two goals, along with the mission statement, constantly remind and encourage everyone in the district that a student›s academic success and character development is our daily priority.

More students in Texas and Klein ISD are seeking higher  education opportunities each year, as participation on the ACT in Texas grew to 39% between 2008 and 2012, compared to 17% nationally. Klein ISD students scored in double digits on the 2011 college readiness standards, and are exceeding state averages in every core subject and composite category by two or more percentage points.

There is a myth that school districts spend an exorbitant amount of funding on central administration, when in fact, only three cents of every dollar is spent on central administration

costs, including salaries. In the Klein ISD, only two cents of each dollar is allocated in the same category. Visit http://youtu.be/tRIyG9G8UqM to watch a short video on How a Dollar is Spent in the Klein ISD.

Klein ISD students, teachers, administrators and personnel work tirelessly to meet and exceed standards each year, and we appreciate your continued support of the district and Texas public education. We empower our staff and one another to reach higher every day, and with your help as an ambassador for public education, the Klein ISD will continue to flourish and excel in the next 75 years to come.

Sincerely, Jim CainSuperintendentKlein ISD
