THE CHALLENGE

God was looking for someone to fill the gap… EZ:22:30

•  Florida deadly for kids at risk - In 2008, the number of Florida children with a history of abuse or neglect reports - who later died - made up almost half of the U.S. total.

•  The number of homeless students has almost doubled since 2006 reaching 25% in 2011.

•  Twenty-five percent of Florida’s K-12 children are responsible for taking care of themselves after school.

•  Over half of Florida’s high schools’ have become dropout factories - ever 9 seconds a child gives up on school.

•  Students from low income families drop out of school at six times the rate of their peers.

•  Sixty-eight percent of students with disabilities graduate.

ANNUALLY KLD PROVIDES

KLD provides a nurturing Christian environment where young

people can learn and grown into tomorrow’s leaders.

We are a pathway to hope…

•  KLD serves an average of 100 youth each day.

•  KLD has two locations – with over 15,000 sq ft.

•  KLD provides education and social emotional services for grades K – 12.

•  KLD provides services year round.

•  KLD teaches to the Florida Sunshine State Standard.

•  KLD graduating students receive a standard FDOE (Florida Department of Education).

•  KLD will celebrate our 10th Anniversary, August 2013.

•  KLD has operation budget of $1M Year.

HOW KLD FACES THE PROBLEM

“We are a pathway to hope”

•  KLD provides over 1,100 HRS of Educational instruction each year.

•  KLD provides 960 HRS of Group Counseling each year.

•  KLD provides 1,500 HRS of Individual Counseling each year.

•  KLD provides services 850 HRS of OUT OF SCHOOL programs and activities.

•  KLD provides transportation for services to over 45 children each day.

•  KLD provides 216 HRS of in-home counseling each year.

KLD 2011 OUTREACH

“We believe we can be the cornerstone of how this

community deals with the issues facing our youth…

our next generation…our legacy and yours.”

•  KLD provided 1,250 articles of clothing to children in need.

•  KLD provided Christmas dinner and gifts for over 50 needy children and their families.

•  KLD provided medical services for KLD Kids through our medical professional team

that included, general, optomology, oral surgery, chiropractic, gynecology and more.

•  KLD provided Thanksgiving Dinner for 85 needy children and their families.

•  KLD provided services 75 children with the best 5 days of their life “Summer Camp!”

Implementation of our Master Plan

...will allow us to

  Create a positive learning environment for a diverse student population, of up to 300 students and their families, that integrates solid academic and agricultural programs.

  Reach an additional number of young people and their families in our Out-of-School programs.

  Provide a 24 / 7 environment that includes housing.

  To provide the opportunity to study agriculture with the goal of developing marketable skills while producing graduates who will have the power to move from a life of dependency to one of contribution.

multi-level practices that will include vocational and technical training; enhancing our social mission, using business methods

to achieve sustainability.
