They paid the ultimate sacrificeKitsap County residents who died in uniform during World War II

The Bremerton High School Associated Student Body of 1946-47 raised $39,562 to build Memorial Stadium, to honor those who fought in World War II. In 2007, the Semancik Foundation expanded the project by creating a personalized veterans’ memorial and flag plaza in the stadium, called “The Path of Freedom.” The center stone is inscribed with the logos of the seven branches of our military and the words, “For those who have given life, limb and soul, so we might enjoy our freedom.”

Thank you for honoring our WWII veterans

Thank you for your thoughtfulness in honoring our WWII veterans. They are to be celebrated!

The scope and scale of World War II — and the hundreds of thousands who served and the mil-lions who supported them — is truly beyond what most people today can

even begin to comprehend. Sharing the stories of our surviving service members is a very good thing to do for them and for future generations. Again, thank you.

Your idea is particu-larly good as most of these brave men and women came home and returned to civilian life without parades or celebrations beyond their immediate family and neighbors. Your article will touch the

hearts of many.KARL COMPTON

Our choices are diplomacy or war

The President has laid out the case for why Congress should approve the deal negotiated between the United States, our partners in the P5+1, and Iran.

The choice is clear: Congress must approve

the deal. Not only is a deal the

best way to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, but if the agree-ment falls apart, Iran will get everything they want: sanctions will begin to unravel, America will lose some of its standing in the world, and Iran’s path to the bomb will only acceler-ate. In short, it’s almost everything the hardliners in Iran are hoping for.

As Congress heads

home for recess before the September vote, they need to hear from veterans, mili-tary family members and VoteVets supporters on this issue.

Tell your representa-tive and senators that you expect them to vote to approve the deal negoti-ated with Iran that will pre-vent them from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

There are ultimately two choices here: diplomacy or war.

For some neoconserva-tives, they are happy to cast their lot with more war. For them, force is the only tool in America’s foreign policy arsenal. But we’ll be there to counter their worldview every step of the way in this debate.

We have a very unique voice in the conversation.

Make yours heard. MAJOR GEN. (RET.)

PAUL EATON VoteVets
