There were so many God sightings as I travelled around the UK and USA sharing our vision of Isaiah 61. The vision from Isaiah that Jesus quoted in Luke 5 is that through the power of His Holy Spirit the Lord desires to bind up the brokenhearted, set captives free, and comfort those who mourn. Jesus offers to freely give us crowns of beauty, oil of joy and garments of praise to enable us, His bride, to be mighty oaks for the display of His splendour. At the UK 25th Anniversary of KISC celebrations it was a privilege to share the hope of the Isaiah 61 message and the many testimonies of the God sightings we have experienced over our years of existence. It was great to catch up with people and see how God is on the move in their lives and throughout the UK. The spiritual awakening was fun to be a part of as I saw God move by delivering people from fear and rejection, comforting those who were grieving and see a spirit of hope arising in a country that had been full of despair. In the USA, Laura Beth (LB) Webster and I visited Eastern University in Philadelphia, Moody Bible College in Chicago and Calvin College in Grand Rapids. Dear KISC Community It is good to be back after 3 months away in the UK and from a few weeks that I spent in the USA. “I saw people helping each other in the playground and I knew God’s love was in them.”

“I saw God in the joy of Children playing, singing and dancing all week.”

a result of the Recruitment Fairs; one young man to be our first Mentor for the Transformational Education College (TEC) and two primary school teachers; all three on fire for Jesus. Eastern University and Calvin College are looking at ways they can support KISC as we start the long faith-filled journey of setting up the first Christian University in Nepal. The Lord has given us prayers based on the 10 commandments to pray over nations to begin to release strongholds that affect the people and institutions in those nations. It was great to pray these prayers with LB at the Liberty Bell site in Philadelphia as well as in the heart of the UK and over Kathmandu. SMC also prayed these prayers together for Nepal in our recent retreat. God is on the move in many nations as I write. Colossians chapter one explains that in Him are all things, whether in heaven or on earth, whether visible or invisible. He not only created them but He is in them. Thus, as I marveled at the amazing autumn colours in the trees, the clouds in the sky, the wind on my face, the faces of the people I met, all these and so much more, are God sightings. May you experience and see the Creator of the universe in all things, whether visible or invisible.

Blessings on youJudith Ellis (KISC CEO)

It had been a bad night. Our little Avia, a couple weeks shy of three years old, had several bouts of terrible diarrhea beginning around 1 am. In the morning, kissing her goodbye, I pedaled off to KISC. At about one in the afternoon, I got a phone call from Shovha, my wife: “Schedule an appointment with a doctor at Alka Hospital,” she said. “Avia’s been getting worse. Nothing but blood. And all she can do is lie down. The man who gave back the sample report said, “Ekdum naramro chha. Chitto doctor dekau,” meaning: very bad. Get to the doctor right away. I could hear the fear and tension in my wife’s voice. I rushed off to the hospital and secured a visit with the doctor at four. Walking back into the main KISC building, principal Leslie Smith stopped me; “Are you OK?” she inquired, having correctly seen I was distraught. I explained about Avia. Leslie quickly pulled Kelly Boehm from the computer lab and the two of them prayed for Avia right then and there in the hall. It was a quarter to two. I later learned that at two, they and several more staff prayed again for Avia. I left KISC at three and pedaled as hard as I could to Kirtipur. Half a kilometer from home, the rear tire got a puncture. I pushed the bike trying to accept Divine Providence as it unfolds. Arriving at our house, I noticed the NGO’s car was gone. The pit of my stomach sank, thinking Rajendra Mama must have had to take Shovha and Avia to the ER. But a few steps further into the compound, I was greeted with Avia’s silvery greeting from our upstairs’ window: “Hi Daddy!” I never felt happier to hear those words. I rushed up and was surprised again to see her standing and smiling. “Wow, she looks pretty good!” I said. “Yes,” responded Shovha, “She’s doing much better. Her diarrhea has pretty much stopped and she is much happier.” “At KISC, some staff prayed for her just before two. When did she get better?” I asked. Shovha smiled, “Right at two o’clock.” Tears of gratitude to God and to the people of KISC welled up. On the way to the hospital and in the waiting room, twice Avia asked, “People are praying for me?” I had to keep back the tears again as I said, “Yes, they are praying for you.” The doctor prescribed multiple medicines to deal with a variety of protozoa and bacteria which she must have ingested while swimming in Begnas over the weekend. Since her improvement at two in the afternoon, she has continued to improve. The next day, all the teachers asked about her and rejoiced at her recovery, even singing a hymn in the break room.

I have worked in many places and have never before felt such sense of genuine care among staff. And this spiritual atmosphere cannot help but be communicated to the students in countless unspoken and unknown ways. It is a privilege and pleasure to be counted a member of the KISC community and to offer what I can to its wellbeing.

Kent Rogers,KISC Staff

And this is why I love working at KISC—there is a powerful community of spiritual care based in devotion to the love of Christ. These qualities are wedded to a genuine pursuit of excellence, diligence and professionalism.

ACTiViTy wEEK rECAP The Primary School traveled to Ancient Babylon during activity week to learn about courage and integrity through the stories of the prophet, Daniel. The theme of ‘God is with us’ was a good reminder of how the Lord has provided for KISC over the past 25 years and how we at KISC should look forward to the ways He will be present with us in the future. Students were encouraged to be on the look out for God Sightings and the blue pillars that line the wall of the hall, testify to how God is near and how He shows Himself through creation and people. What an encouragement it was to see the goodness of the Lord being poured out in all that we did that week. A huge thanks to the parents, staff, and KISC community for helping out in some many different ways. Through your help and support the body of Christ here at KISC can truly proclaim that God was AND is with us!

This month Equip teacher trainers Amber Hohensee and Sally Bolis visited EQUIP’s partner school Good Shepherd School in Kathmandu, where they taught several lessons for two days, switching between four classes. They modeled different styles of classroom management, activities and ways to integrate faith in the classroom.

The children were full of wonder, joy, excitement and many questions as Amber and Sally read books to them. They engaged the students in several hands-on activities as the classroom teachers observed. They also led assembly and encouraged children and teachers to call out to the one true God and seek Him. It is our prayer that all the teachers and children would taste and see that the Lord is good and that He would continue to provide and give them wisdom and guidance.

“Teaching at Good Shepherd was exhausting yet rewarding. It was so beautiful to see how eager and ready the children were to learn. Teaching those two days reminded me how malleable children are and challenged me to reevaluate the way I teach. I realized that the Trinity and the Christian world-view should be integrated into every lesson and,as teachers; we are responsible to train up and encourage children to think critically as well as feed them with the Truth of the gospel. C.S. Lewis said, ‘Education without values, as useful as it is, seems to only create a more clever devil.’ As I continue to teach and provide training for teachers I long to seek new forms of education that show kids their value in Christ and speak about new life in Him alone.” - Sally BOlIS

We at KISC like to see the education of a child as a three way agreement. It involves the parents, the child and the school. Your role as a parent is vital in the stability of your child’s physical, emotional and spiritual health. We give added value to that in our care of them during school hours. By enrolling your child at KISC, you signed into our mission, vision and values and we are delighted to be partners with you. Please see your role in your child’s education as important and keep the channels of communication open with school. By working together, we can nurture our students, your children, in the best possible way.
