How does Kiriaini Mission Hospital achieve an
average of 70 deliveries per month in view of the
underlying obstacles?
Sensitizing the management on:-
Team building through regular staff meetings
Review of staff terms and conditions
Clear job description and orientation guidelines
Focus on community
Public awareness programmes through local FM radio stations and church
gatherings
Community mobilization through neiboring health facilities and opinion
leaders
Advocacy for enrollment with NHIF
Administration and management

Establishment of:-
A gynaecological clinic in the hospital
Newborn unit (Nursery) hence no referrals
On going CME for newborn management
Satelitte Clinic in Murang’a Town

Recruitment of a sonographer

Increase in patients turn out in all departments
Improve and sustain the number of deliveries
Upgrade the laboratory department with modern
equipment and increase efficiency
Reduced waiting time for specialised laboratory
investigations from average of two and a half hours to
thirty minutes between 1/05/2011 to 31/10/2011.
Acquired knowledge and skills in leadership and management
Identified the need and importance of acknowledging others
Realised the importance and potential in teamwork
